Do not do business with G&G Moving in DE. Horrible service. Lazy workers. Packed pods so poorly that they were only half full requiring additional pods to be delivered. Lazy workers sat in the truck for half the day and charged me for the time. AVOID this company. I hired this company to pack 3 pods. 4 movers for $205/hour was estimated 5 hours to pack 3 pods. I only needed 2 pods since I do not have a lot of furniture but I rented an extra just in case they did not do a good job of packing. I thought it was odd that four men showed up in 2 large moving trucks. I even asked about it before they started work and was told that is how they travel to and fro job sites. Within the first hour of packing the first pod, they asked me to prioritize which items I wanted them to pack. I found this incredulous since they knew the house was closing for sale the next day and ALL of my household belongings needed to be packed. Several times during the day, I commented that they were not packing correctly and was told they have been doing this for years and they knew what they were doing. I was moved by professional movers just 3 years before with the same household contents and I watched how they packed. They put heavy furniture in first and placed lighter and smaller items on top. BUT G&G movers put in large bags of clothing, bedding and pillows in first, then put heavy leather sectional furniture on TOP! I have 7-six ft shelving units for storage; they put them in the pods and put nothing on the shelves! After about 2 hours, they revealed their bait and switch; they again told me that not all of my stuff would fit (after only one and half pods were packed) they offered to load their trucks with my stuff and they would store it for me instead of using the pods AT A FEE OF COURSE! I declined and said it all needs to go in the pods. THIS is when they got lazy. One guy, Hector, spent a total of 4 hours inside one of the trucks. They had truck issues and at several times during the day, all four men were outside looking at the engine on three separate occasions for 30 minutes per. The truck leaked antifreeze all over the driveway which we had to clean up after they left even though i told them they needed to. The truck damaged the front yard; the next morning at the walk through, the buyers demanded it be repaired. They packed 3 pods so poorly, I had to get a 4th pod delivered early the next morning. When that pod driver arrived, he opened the other 3 pods and was shocked at how badly they packed them. I was in such a rush, that the pod driver assisted in packing the 4th pod. He also confirmed that he has never seen a 3 bedroom house with such little furniture need even 3 pods let alone 4 pods. They tried to charge me $1800 for 8 hours but I refused to pay. Jessica, the owner, got on the phone. I explained how many hours Hector and the other 3 did nothing but stand around a truck engine. She tried to charge me $1700 but I again refused. Four men stood around me on my deck while Jessica demanded I pay the bill. I refused but they would not leave until I signed, so I signed under duress including the words: "I do not agree" when signing my name. I told Jessica while i was signing that I wrote above my signature and that I would dispute this charge as soon as they left my house. I had to pay 2 college kids & the pod driver $200 to load that 4th pod. I had to pay $200 at closing for the driveway damage. Rent for addition 4th pod is $900 for 3 months. Hector's 4 hours in the truck =$205. The 4 guys watching the truck repair for total of 1.5 hours = $308. TOTAL=$1813; they charged me $1707.50 so they actually owe me $105.50! DO NOT do business with this company. The reason they brought the trucks was NOT for transportation but to do a bait and switch; to sell me on their moving and storage service instead. They are lazy, sloppy and horrible at packing properly. They damaged my driveway and threw cigarette butts in the driveway, front yard & even in the back yard. I just purchased a (very heavy) sofa at a used furniture store. It had to be moved 50 miles to my house. I found G&G on Yelp, found their quote to be attractive, and booked their services. The woman on the phone was efficient and professional, and provided a two-hour window for the pickup. Alonzo texted me when they were en route, 3 gentleman showed up at the store with a moving truck with a liftgate, picked up the sofa, drove it to my house, and humped it up a difficult flight of stairs requiring 2 90-degree turns. All 3 movers were polite, careful, clean, and friendly. Overall, I found it to be a very moving experience. Sorry about that - it went great, and I will use them again. read more

I have given this business many opportunities to make things right but with no luck. Our move was a nightmare. They didn't disassemble the items they were supposed to, gouged the floor, broke the leg off the piano, broke the keys in the tool box and the truck broke down on the way to deliver the furniture to our new house. It turned a simple one day move into several days and more time off work. Their reviews were good and that is why we selected them. I can't say that I would recommend them. My boyfriend got several moving quotes and felt they were way too high for the job and short distance of the move. G&G moving was recommended by a co-worked and they did not disappoint. Accommodated an afternoon move for us. Said they would arrive between 12 and 2 and we're on the way at 1220. Quote for timing was spot on. The movers were exceptional. It was the worst moving experience ever! We sold our home by owner and the buyers realtor recommended G & G Moving and although she didn't have first hand knowledge, she thought the agency had used them in the past. It was a quick settlement and I didn't do my due diligence on this company or research the reviews and thought, if they were recommended what could go wrong? When I say everything, I mean everything could go wrong! Not one piece of our furniture doesn't have some type of damage! It was estimated at a retail replacement value of $9,700.00 just for the Thomasville, Ethan Allen and Hooker Furniture pieces that were damaged beyond repair. They demanded payment of $2,400.00 or they would not turn into insurance that paid .60 cents on the dollar. We didn't pay. Not only did our real estate attorney tell us not to pay, but the realtor that initially recommended them called and ask them to make it right and if they didn't, they would drop them as a preferred. Needless to say, they ended up dropping them and said they really didn't use them much prior. One of the main pieces damaged beyond repair was a marble top to my sideboard in the dining room. I advised them when they arrived that the top was heavy and they needed to be careful, instead, they laid it flat on the floor and kept walking over it and when they picked it up to load...boom! They dropped it and it busted in half! It only got much worse from there as you can see in the pictures, the sideboard top, entertainment center and fireplace pieces are completely destroyed! They even took my marble top without asking and when the authorities ask them to return it, the owners wife said that I gave it to her? The owners told the authorities that we could pick it up in a couple of hours and as you can see when reviewing the pictures, they needed the time to completely damage it into several pieces so we couldn't use it for another purpose. More than a month later, nothing and to find out afterwards, he is also a realtor! Although we could have proceeded with a demand for the damages, we have decided to move on and post the reviews in hopes no one else will have to go through what we did. read more

These guys are the best! I was limited to one particular day for my move, and even though G&G was already booked for that day, they told me they would make time for me. And they did - they even showed up over an hour early after calling to make sure that would be okay! Once there, they got right to work and worked quicker than any other moving company I've used. They were incredibly careful with everything I owned and there were no damages or breakages. They even put moving blankets down on the floors to keep them clean, and moved them around as they needed to use different entryways. They price by the job instead of by the hour, and the actual price at the end of the job was exactly as they quoted, no surprises. I found and used a great Living Social deal for them, but even without that savings their price came in way lower than a lot of the larger companies that I got quotes from. And since they're local, they knew their way around and I didn't have to worry about planning out the best truck route to the new place. HORRIBLE!HORRIBLE!HORRIBLE! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARNING! This is my first review of any product or service. I have never before felt the need (either after having a positive or negative experience) to not only share my opinion, but more importantly, warn other consumers NOT to use a service or product. Let me start by saying that the quote I received, was not my final bill, even though it states that all prices are quoted up front. I payed considerably more for the move, despite having a signed contract with a lower price. That is the least of my problems. These movers destroyed SEVERAL of my items. They broke a casio keyboard, 2 lamps, and scratched, dented, scraped, and BROKE several pieces of my furniture. I will leave pictures of the items so you can see for yourself. When I approached the company, they said, and I am not kidding, "well you had a lot of stuff" and "if you consider all the items you had, versus the items that were scratched, its not that bad". This is not a joke. Jessica actually said these words to my husband and I. Further, they said they can send someone out to "fix" the items. I told them that I did not want any more of their services and no one affiliated with them will be touching my furniture. I am in the process of disputing the charges I payed. $16,000 in furniture and items DAMAGED and they gave me $238.00! Lastly, they left a mess at the home I moved from, the morning of closing. My husband had to go back to the home, because the new family was very upset with the manner in which they left the garage. They spilt oil from a tool, left scraps and debris and did not have the decency just to sweep it up prior to leaving. IF I COULD LEAVE A ZERO STAR I WOULD!!!!! read more

This "company" moved my furniture 12 miles. In the process they did over 4000$ damage. There were no blankets or anything. They just threw it in the truck. Oh yeah and they were over 4 hours late. When they got to the new house they unloaded the furniture all damaged and just threw it on the floor here and there. Taking a mattress up the stairs they damaged the wood stairs themselves and put two dents in the drywall and damaged the woodwork. The owner, Vernon, came over and said he would make it right and repair damage to furniture and house. Well he used a little marker pen to hide dents but never actually fixed or repaired anything. I had previously used G&G for a move, and the experience was very good. Vernon somehow managed to get an oversized couch into the apartment when it seems like it just wouldn't go. Hired them again, and, wow, what a nightmare. Vernon didn't show up, but three of the most miserable, exhausted, unfriendly moving guys did. They openly admitted they were absolutely exhausted. They could not get the couch out of the apartment, even with the added benefit of taking out half the stairwell. We all (including the moving guys) kept calling Jessica to get Vernon on site. She was very rude when she finally picked up the phone five hours later, and said Vernon was busy elsewhere. Finally after waiting several hours, Vernon showed up. Got the couch out in two minutes. On the other end, the guys slogged said couch through the pouring rain, along with all of my other stuff. It was not protected or shrink wrapped, although I had been promised all the furniture would be shrink wrapped. They couldn't get the couch in, either. At this point, what should have been a five hour move was going on thirteen hours. Everything was damaged. Very careless with everything. Vernon did come out to try to fix the couch and several other pieces that were damaged, to no avail. Vernon is a sweet man but this was the move from hell. read more

Hired these guys to do my move this week. They arrived right on time, were efficient, and very friendly. Zero damage to my stuff. They took great care with fragile items and wrapped as needed -- including very large framed artwork. They were respectful and polite and did everything we asked, even moving a bed a few inches over - little things :). My only complaint: they removed the light bulbs from my floor lamps to move them(good), but Didnt give them to me ! Or maybe they are around here somewhere, hiding among the boxes ..... I would not recommend this moving company to anyone!! A friend of mine recently used G&G Moving to move from a townhome in Avondale to a townhome in Pike Creek. She moved a lot of the items herself to save on the quoted hours. Even so, the final price was $200 higher than quoted and she had to tell the movers not to take as long on their breaks because they were taking their time and not working hard. The even bigger issue is that the moving company truck damaged her SUV that was parked next to it when they left. The rear back corner panel around the gas cap was dented in. When she called G&G to report the damage, the office manager was very rude and dismissive of her complaint. The office manager said she talked to the movers and they said they did not damage my friend's vehicle. Her vehicle was undamaged before the truck parked next to hers and was damaged after the truck left. And the damage was done high on her vehicle further making it obvious that the moving truck hit it. And if the movers honestly are not aware they hit it, it could have happened while they were pulling in or leaving the parking spot next to her vehicle. I personally called the owner, Vernon Gordon to let him know what had happened (I stepped in because I don't like anyone being taken advantage of) and he said he was unaware. He had the office manager call my friend back the next day to get the info and to report it to their insurance company. G&G's insurance company called my friend and were just as rude and accusatory towards my friend as the office manager was upon her initial complaint. And their insurance company denied my friend's claim because they said the movers denied hitting her car. There was no accountability at all by G&G for the damages they caused and their insurance company is also not covering their damages. I would not recommend G&G - they were unprofessional, their final price was $200 higher than quoted even with less items needing to be moved and they caused damage to my friend's car costing her even more money ... don't let this happen to you!! read more

Moving nightmare from HELL !!!! This was one of the worst decisions I had made in a long time. I hired G&G to move from Delaware to Tampa FL. When they first entered into the home, I thought they were very professional until I noticed they were moving so fast that I became nervous and very annoyed. I showed them items that were staying in the kitchen and sun room etc. When they began moving the items, they took off the Master Front Door which was beautifully made of wood & glass. Well, that was OK because they proceeded with the master bedroom and started taking the bed down. Well as they were going down the stairs, I am assuming that the mattress went into the wall of the side entrance. It went through the plaster and made a hold in the wall. I had sold my home and the buyers where going to do a walk through the very next morning which the wall needed to be fixed ASAP. I had a FIT because I already emphasized that you were moving too fast. He/Vernon reiterated that maybe the buyers would not see the damage. OMG. That pissed me off more than ever. Luckily, I had a contractor already scheduled to come in to fix other small repairs. Vernon (owner) had to pay for the fixtures which cost about 275.00. That was just the beginning. When the contractor arrived, they informed me they may not be able to find the exact match of paint. They came up with the closest match and had to redo the entire wall due to the color difference. The movers loaded and exit the house. Episode #2 - I ran out of packing tape and needed to go out to Lowes. OMG -- and found the Master door on the side wall in the kitchen whereby they forgot to put the door back on. I literally had to wait for the contractors to come back with their items so they could stay into my home while I stepped out. The contractors thought this had to be one of the most ridiculous situations they had ever seen. Not only did G & G (Vernon) had to pay for the damages, they also had to pay the contractors to install the FRONT DOOR. Episode #3 - They forgot several boxes including a small crib that folds out into a twin bed. Vernon (owner) said they would come back for these items. When the workers arrived the truck was too small and they still left several items because the boxes could not fit into the truck. If only they did a final walk-through, they could had eliminated this mistake. Episode #4 - Because there was so much going on, remember in the beginning of the story, I told them not to pack certain items - Those items were packed and the buyer that purchased the Kitchen and Sun-room furniture could not retrieve them because they were packed deep into the truck. There is so much more details after the furniture arrived in Tampa. Because my settlement date changed to the next day, before they proceeded to leave Delaware, I called to see if I could change my delivery date. OMG - for 1-day they told me it would cost 500.00 to change this date. Of course, it was cheaper to put my things into storage. The Storage owner in Tampa said that cost was outrageous and when they arrived they did not have inventory of my items when unloading nor was covered. Last - no, they did not offer me any discount, not even an apology. I am disputing the final payment with my credit card company. read more

We hired G&G to pack and move us from Philadelphia to Tampa, Florida. We were happy with Jessica's communication and the price they quoted was fair. Jessica assured us she would be handling both the pack and load from Philly and the unpack in Tampa. Maybe I should've known we were in for a bad experience when I found a whole cabinet of food at 11pm the night before we were leaving to drive 1,000 miles, which I had to pack in reusable bags and garbage bags that our next door neighbor gave us. Unfortunately, it only got worse. I can say that in almost every single one of our boxes (which were extremely poorly packed, I must say), several items were damaged. Examples of the damage include the leg of a bed being broken off, brand new furniture being scratched and nicked, a desk being scratched so deep it cannot be repaired, brand new wedding gifts broken, vacuum cleaner in 15 pieces, etc. etc. I am happy to provide photos of what our boxes looked like upon request - it's not a pretty sight. We were absolutely shocked. Now, I must say that Vernon handled the issues very professionally and agreed to give us a partial refund without requiring us to go through an insurance claim, which would have given us a very small amount of money for our many expensive damaged items. I have to hope/imagine that our circumstance was not the norm for this business. However, I feel that I need to tell other customers what happened so that they may make the judgment call for themselves. We are still finding damaged items (like when I made homemade ice cream the other day and put it in a Tupperware container only to find the container had a huge crack, as did the other Tupperware container I tried to use when I discovered the leak or 2 cracked picture frames when we went to hang them up earlier today). Would I use G&G again? No. But hopefully others have better experiences than we did. And I have to commend Vernon on his willingness to work with us to get us a prompt reimbursement so that we may replace the many broken items. read more

While our movers were friendly and fast, they were also rushed and careless. I hired them because they said they could move my piano. They did not provide enough staff to move this heavy piano and they dropped it moving the piano out of the house! Fortunately it tipped over onto my plants which broke the fall and only a minor ding resulted. You would think they would call for additional support moving the piano in. Nope. They were lucky that people volunteered to help move it into my new home. G&G will provide good pricing because they understaff their jobs and their workers are expected to complete 2-3 jobs in a day. read more

First, gotta give the G&G team kudos for making our move uneventful and rather stress free. We had contacted G&G to get a quote on simply packing our apartment, loading a rental truck and gathering our things from 2 other locations...logistical nightmare. Got a very fair quote and was ready to ink the deal, but Jessica asked if she could possibly provide a quote for G&G to "do it all, door to door". Sure, why not....well, huge surprise, fantastic price quote and that made our decision easy. They worked around our bizarre schedule and short notice and were in and out in record time. Move in day was meet on the appointed time by the sub group they assigned here in FL. Move was seamless but as we opened things and unpacked, found a number of things damaged. I saw how things were packed in DE and know that all was done properly. On this end, the sub group had to unload and reload to a smaller van......they whacked a few things and although our damage was minimal, still annoying. G&G took care in packing, wrapping and loading only to the the clowns here muck it up. Jessica worked very quickly to get a fair refund and we got the cash almost instantly, well done. Hope we do not have to move for a long time, but if we do.....will call Jessica and G&G for a referral. In July 2014, I used G&G moving for a local move and had an amazing experience. After shopping around prices, I chose to go with G&G. Some alternatives had slightly cheaper rates but they were all on a "per hour" basis and had all sorts of additional fees. G&G, on the other hand, had absolutely no hidden fees. They quoted me a fair price (not on a per hour basis) and that is all i paid (except a tip for an excellent move). What more can you ask for: Vernon and his employee arrived early, worked diligently and carefully, didn't damage anything, and were polite and friendly. My quote was spot on and I only had to pay about $20 more because we went over the 2hr minimum slightly. When they arrived at my home (on time) the power was out on our entire block. What a nightmare. Broken items beyond what I initially realized, stuff thrown in storage, unprofessional dealings, furniture destroyed....the list goes on. Initially, our long distance move meant our belongings would be in storage for three months Vernon knew that and took no care to put out things in storage neatly. When I went to get something of storage that G&G packed, it was a disaster and I discovered several damaged pieces of furniture. One piece was totally trashed (an armoire). When I told Vernon about it, he told that the item could not be guaranteed because of the material it was constructed from....this was told to me AFTER G&G destroyed it, not before they moved it! The sectional sofa had a damaged section, which G&G paid to reupholster, however, upon unpacking the entire storage unit, we found much more damage to the sectional. Kitchen table was gouged beyond repair, which they did replace after much haggling. These were only a few things I initially saw when I went to the storage unit to retrieve an item. I should have waited to completely unpack the unit to survey the damage because there was SO MUCH MORE....boxes were destroyed, meaning items in the boxes were destroyed; there was a gouge on the handle of our new stainless steel refrigerator, shelving unit was so scratched up....and on and on. Initially, I disputed the charges on my credit card and G&G did not respond to the dispute so (per Discover) I would have won the case and not had to pay the $4k in charges. However, I was told by Jessica that they "would win the case"---when they didn't even respond to the dispute with Discover! So unprofessional--Vernon got involved and apologized on behalf of Jessica. They ended up refunding us approximately $700 to repair the table and piece of the sectional they ripped, but the damage we discovered later was far, far more than that. I would absolutely NOT recommend them for a move of any distance. Before I hired them, I read great reviews on Yelp so I felt comfortable using them. If I had read a review such as this one, I would have never used them for our long distance move. read more

I had this team move around 10 pieces of furniture today. The first issue was that the team got lost on the way and went to the wrong address despite the fact that I had verified the address twice with the company. The movers were slow and did not move to get the job done in the time that was estimated. When I spoke with Vernon to set up the appointment, he said I would be fine to have 2 guys and it should be done in under 3 hours. It took over 4 hours to move a few pieces within a 5 minute driving radius. Once they got to the new apartment they attempted to move in my desk and it broke coming up the stairs. When it broke they said "I figured that might happen" but continued to try anyway. When we called to get the issues resolved, Jessica was rude on the phone and said Vernon was out of town and no one would get back to us for another 2 days. read more

Vernon is one of the MOST professional people I have ever worked with. He moved a dining table and 8 chairs from Delaware to Hawaii. When the shippers (not G & G) broke 2 of the chairs, he was SO quick to have one of them fixed and the other replaced. I rarely had to initiate the followup. He kept me updated almost on a daily basis. He treated the dining set like it belonged to him. He is very detail and customer service oriented. I lucked out in finding him!!!! We required a 5-bedroom move from Delaware to New York, and after several different company quotes, we choose G&G. We had several large items including a 65 inch plasma tv, large dining room table, and oversized king bed with marble headboard, along with so many boxes and fragile items, and all these items were handled with care and not damaged/scratched/broken. Everyone was very courteous and thoughtful. And no move goes completely as planned, so their flexibility and adaptability was very appreciative. They even spent extra time putting the beds together late at night to allow our kids a place to sleep. They were very affordable, professional, and pleasant to work with, and I would recommend them to others. read more

This was a very unprofessional group. They were sent by a consignment company and arrived several hours outside of their agreed time slot. They checked with their office and refused to move one damaged piece which I accepted; then they disappeared leaving the apartment open and without calling me on the cell I gave them. They moved nothing. I called the trucker on his cell and he said they were called back with no further explanation. Meanwhile I was stuck with no time left to get another mover as I had a flight out of town that evening. I still have not received any call of explanation. read more

G&G Moving has moved me three times in the past two years: out of a one-bedroom apartment, into a storage unit; out of a storage unit, into a house; out of the house, back to the storage unit. While both he and his employees work efficiently and pay careful attention to details, thanks to the flat-rate pricing system, there's never a sense that they're rushing through the job without care; they're always willing to stop for a quick chat or to respond to any questions or worries I might have. Upon arrival, Vernon assesses the amount and type of materials to move, then devises a strategy for packing the truck; on multiple occasions, I've been grateful for his advice about how to pack a tricky object or how to reconfigure an already packed item to avoid causing damage. Best of all, Vernon works miracles in packing far more than I thought possible into my storage unit; thanks to his awesome spatial intelligence, I'm able to save money each month on a smaller unit. Not a single item has been damaged in any of my moves and, even better, items come out of the storage unit (where they've sat for +6 months) with no damage at all. Jessica and Vernon have been extremely professional and caring with my recent move. I had the unusual situation that I was on vacation in the left coat the entire week before my move . Jessica was prompt and responsive to any inquiry. The movers showed up an hour after I returned from the airport . Vernon led the team so personable and easy to talk to. The 3 guys had my 2600 square foot house 4 bedrooms dining room living room and den, multiple boxes and gardening equipment packed into the truck in 4 hours . They stored it in the truck Saturday and Sunday night and moved it in my new home on a Monday arriving half hour early and efficiently moved items in. There were a few lost pieces of hardware hindering putting an ikea bed together and two damaged items . HOWEVER Jessica and Vernon came and repaired each item with complete professionalism. I hired G&G Moving to relocate me about 20 miles from home. The owner went to school with one of my coworkers so I thought I could trust them, even being a newer and small company. I was quoted what I would consider a very low rate, which I thought was maybe due to the company trying to build business but I was a bit leery that it was TOO low. I booked my move a month+ in advance to ensure there would be no problems. After scheduling, I received absolutely zero communication from G&G prior to the day of the move, which was a call two hours before they were supposed to be there to begin the move to tell me that they would be unable to move me at all that day due to employees calling out. They then tried to reschedule my move for THREE days later. As if I could even trust them to be there three days later to do it, why couldn't they have come the very next day? I booked over a month in advance to ensure my day would be secure and that clearly meant nothing. Maybe I'm just one of the unlucky customers based on the other positive reviews, but this was and is totally unacceptable and I will never recommend G&G to anyone I know because of this disappointing outcome. It ended up costing me $900 above and beyond their quote to hire someone else last minute. Shame on you, G&G, for not following through with your commitment to move me. I'm sorry you had people call out, but most companies seem to have enough staff on standby to accommodate something like that. read more
