My stylist is from NYC and asked me specific questions about what kind of highlights I wanted, where I wanted them and whether I normally opted for toner. Still waiting to see the outcome. Slightly awkwardly waiting in the reception area while she juggles another client. Slightly disappointed at the lack of mindless magazines - No Self, Seventeen, Vogue or Glamour. Fortunately, there was Harpers Bazaar so I could catch up on Paris Hilton's latest. I did the face framing height lights - 8 foils but I think she gave me a few extra. Saved around $60 by skipping toner and a blow dry. Asked for thick highlights, and they looked a bit skinned but the stylist showed me how they were actually thick. She was right. She didn't show me my hair automatically at the end. I had to ask, but I did like what I saw.

I returned to this salon for blonde highlights (bleach/foils) specifically because I had an…read moreexcellent experience with Victoria about two years ago--my results then were flawless. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite. I clearly requested the same foiling pattern that had previously been used. Because I part my hair on the side, starting the foils along that part gave the best result. However, Victoria chose to use a different method and applied significantly fewer highlights than expected. It was very apparent that this was done to rush through my appointment while managing multiple other clients at the same time. The end result reflected that decision. My hair was noticeably over-processed, uneven, and poorly blended. I left with stark, white stripe-like sections down the middle and along both sides of my head--an outcome that looks unnatural and is difficult to conceal. This is not a subtle issue; it is a clear technical failure. The entire appointment felt rushed and lacking in care. The focus seemed to be on volume--fitting in as many clients as possible--rather than delivering quality work. This is a significant decline from the level of professionalism and attention to detail I experienced in the past. Victoria immediately acknowledged the problem and said she wanted to correct it, which made it clear she knew the result was unacceptable. However, that only reinforces that the issue was preventable and caused by poor execution and lack of attention during the service. I was also charged $220 for what was described as a 'partial' highlight, yet the coverage was far less than what is typically considered a 'partial' at most salons in the U.S. Charging a premium price for rushed, subpar work is extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, I am from out of town and was visiting on vacation, which made this situation even more difficult to handle. I am now left having to live with a poor color result for the remainder of my trip and will need to wait until I return home to have my regular stylist attempt to correct it. Based on this experience, I would strongly caution others against booking with Victoria if you expect careful technique, proper processing, and results that reflect the price being charged.

Whether I'm in for a simple trim or a complete transformation including length and color, she makes sure I leave happy and with increased knowledge as to what products she recommends and how to style and keep my locks healthy and looking fabulous. It's always been a challenge to maintain my hair as it's so easy to whip out the old faithful bun routine, but with her help I now love getting into her chair and have had fun experimenting with different hairstyles and techniques utilizing her guidance and expertise. I've recommended her to my friends and family, and those who have taken my word left the salon more than satisfied with the results. As long as Ashley remains in Jax, I shall be her faithful client! I'm really disappointed with my experience at Haute Headz. I was excited to try a new stylist after…read moreseeing her work on IG (Avery) and was prepared to spend more than I normally would, but I walked out feeling frustrated and like I didn't get what I paid for--especially at a $300 price point. The appointment started off uncomfortably when the stylist next to me overheard what I do for a living (title insurance) and commented that I work in "legalized extortion." Not only was this wildly inappropriate, it made me feel awkward and judged right from the start. I had a thorough consultation with my stylist and we agreed that to achieve the look I wanted--light ends contrasting with a deeper base--I'd need a full lightening service rather than the partial that was originally quoted. I agreed to the upcharge with the expectation that I'd get the desired result. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. Instead of a smooth, dimensional color, I ended up with chunky highlights, a grown-out root look, and ends that are still noticeably darker than the base. It looks like a rushed job and not at all the intentional contrast we discussed. To make things worse, there are two very obvious bright white spots at my hairline where toner was completely missed. I brought this up when I got home and noticed it (Avery really should have caught them when washing or styling my hair, they're quite obvious) and the stylist did offer to fix it, but her availability didn't line up with mine. I explained that I couldn't take another hour and a half off work to come in during the week, given the 30+ minute drive each way, which she knows because we live near each other. Rather than showing understanding, she got defensive and told me it wouldn't take long and that I should reach out to the salon owner if I had further concerns. The one bright spot in all this (well, other than the 2 in my hairline) is that the haircut turned out well, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. But overall, this was a frustrating experience with results I'm unhappy with and a lack of professionalism I didn't expect from a salon at this price point. I won't be returning.

Linda (stylist of 36 years) cut my hair Sunday 06/17/18 Evening @ 4pm…read more I showed her a few pictures (below) and expressed concern for difficulty of getting the cut right. It's a mix of a few styles. I told her I want an A LINE LONG BOB of sorts. I explicitly said, I'm not a hair stylist so I don't know the correct terminology so please forgive me. The photos and language were the template that created the style I LOVED. The photos of me in pink are the results of the hair cut I desired. I take responsibility for the results I received and think it's fair to share my experience here. Linda finished cutting my hair and it was nothing like I desired. I grabbed the chunks of hair I wanted to be shorter. I sat back down and she went at my hair another round. There was a moment of chatter about having my hair short- I said, YES! "I want it short in the back, like a cute short cut". I trusted her as she again was confident and motivated. She grabbed the clippers, touched the back of my neck and asked me if that's where I wanted it. I waited a few moments and clarified, "that's where I want my hair to end, yes". Before I knew it, she used the clippers up most of the back of my head. It was too late to say anything and I hoped for the best. What I ended up with was a look like friar tuck in the back. A bowl cut in the back. Two inches of my hair laid in from the top in the back creating a straight horizontal line with buzzed hair below it. The sides of my hair remained longer and untouched except for a trim. I asked her two times for some long bangs in the front. She didn't do anything to the front. The hair on the sides were to be angled. An a line, I expressed. These hairs were horizontal. By the time I looked at the back I wasn't interested in having her cut my hair anymore. I went home. Cryed. Had my bf do some blending in the back so the straight line wouldn't be so bold. I also did a little angle cutting on the hair in the front on the left side. I'm so unhappy with this cut, I feel like I was raped. I was courageous and used my voice to get what I wanted and then she went all the way for whatever reason. I would have NEVER told her to buzz the back of my hair. I realize afterwards, that I could have said, "do a short cut in the back like a long pixie". By then it was too late. I got a wild do and that's that. I get to grow it out and share my experience. I realized earlier this year that if I don't speak up, others will fall victim. Go to your hair stylists with empowered voice. Say what you want and have them repeat back to you what they heard. Clarify for your sake. Clarify so you get what you want. Don't just trust people to do what they want because they only know what's in their experience. Tell them what you want with courage.
