My fellow yelpie Jeannie has been raving about their duck à la pressie for ages and we finally organized an outing so she can share her love of Tourmaline and the duck with us. Thank you Jeannie. The duck in itself deserves an award. You can tell that Yvan the head chef and owner has put so much detail into creating this magnificent dish for his customers. From picking the perfect farm to order the duck from in PA, to purchasing the machinery for churning out the sauce from the bones and internals of the duck, to incorporating different aspects of duck preparations from different cultures (French Normandy, Chinese roast duck) and teaching to Daniel in the city for some tips. You know Yvan has put his heart and soul into this one dish. I love how this dish is prepared table side by the chef himself with so many different stories and presentations. He starts off the duck with a serving of the perfect tot crispy skin served with his seasonal sauce. We had rhubarb. We were the stars of the room with everyone envying us. I can't recommend this experience enough. Worth every penny! In addition to the duck, we ordered some apps, salad and a fish dish. The seasonal cocktail Noveau Peach so refreshing and delish and dessert wine was a perfect accompaniment to the desserts. The atmosphere or the restaurant was cozy and high end. Lots of couples on cute romantic dates. The owners Yvan and Rebecca are the sweetest. I met Rebecca at our building bbq that they catered and she was just so lovely. Mentioned to her that we were going to see her the following week and she remembered me. Definitely check out Tourmaline. A true gem in FH and so happy to have them here.

Both my husband's and friend's hanger steak was very chewy!!! A restaurant of this quality should definitely serve a better cut of beef!!! We really looked forward to this dinner having read about the chef but were very disappointed with the entrees! The kale salad and celery root latkes were good as were the desserts. Overall 5/5: Relatively new place opened about 9 months ago. It's allegedly owned by the same…read morepeople running East Buffet. In Chinese circles, it's referred to as the "New East Buffet," so frequent comparisons will be made throughout review. UNLIKE East Buffet which operates as a dim sum restaurant during the day and an event venue at night, this place is exclusively a banquet hall and event space. As a result, the place feels grander, is more elegantly decorated, and is more upscale. There are functional elevators, so it's more accessible for elderly guests compared to East Buffet. The bathrooms are much nicer, with each toilet housed in its own room, rather than traditional stalls. Food 5/5: Menus vary based on the package any given hosts orders but their standard is very similar to East Buffet's. As you would expect for traditional Chinese banquet hall food. Very flavorful with giant portion sizes. Is the quality the same as some more expensive Chinese fine dining in Flushing? No, but it's close and remains authentic. Ambiance 5/5: The singular atrium is spacious, well lit, and elegantly decorated. There are chandeliers, lots of arches, and even more chandeliers lol. They have floor to ceiling windows facing out towards Northern Blvd. Check their Instagram for pictures. The wedding I attended had enough space to accommodate a third party bar as well. Service 4/5: Better than East Buffet. The staff didn't appear to be pushing past people and rushing everywhere like they do at East Buffet. They seemed friendlier but service is still more "functional" than truly exceptional.

You step into Royal Queen on the top floor of Flushing's New World Mall, and instantly, the sheer…read morescale of the operation hits you like a slap in the face. It isn't just a restaurant; it's a cathedral of consumption. Look up quickly at that ceiling, a massive, radiating sunburst of gold and crystal chandeliers draped in waterfalls of white string, call it "sungold".. It's theatrical. It's loud. It's completely uncompromising and visually energetic and right up on your stuff. People think fine dining is about snooty & hushed dining rooms, white linen or silk tablecloths, and waiters moving like iceskating gohsts. That'sghosts. Real gastronomy is about energy, precision, and respect for the ingredient.ls. And here, in a cavernous banquet hall in Queens packed with hundreds of people clinking teapots and hailing steam carts, there is an absolute purity of discipline. I sat down, and within thirty seconds, the assault began. First came the Siu Mai. Look at the structure. Most chefs get lazy they pad the filling with filler, turn the pork to rubber, and overcook the shrimp until it loses its soul. But here? You bite through that paper thin yellow wrapper, and there is an unmistakable, violent snap of fresh, sweet prawn bound with perfectly seasoned pork. It's juicy, rich, and utterly balanced. No nonsense. Just technique. Then, the Har Gow. The true test of any dim sum kitchen. If the translucent skin sticks to the bamboo steamer or tears under your chopsticks, the kitchen has failed. Period. But when the basket opened, the steam rose with that clean, pure scent of rice starch and sweet seafood. The pleating on the dumpling was flawless tight, delicate, holding together a filling of whole, pristine shrimp that tasted like they were swimming an hour ago. And the atmosphere? Pure theatre. The carts weave through the room like a well-drilled brigade during a Friday night rush. The giant LED screens blaring event packages in gold and crimson, the hum of conversation, the crack of crispy pork belly skin three tables over, it's alive. Most people come to places like this and just see a crowded room. I see conviction. I see chefs back in that kitchen who understand that simplicity is the hardest thing to master. You cannot hide behind a fancy reduction or a sprig of chervil here. The dumpling is either perfect, or it's garbage. At Royal Queen, it's extraordinary. Pure, unadulterated passion on a bamboo steamer. Perfection.

Still a solid experience but they're getting stiff competition for both quality and value…read more Service is still good but also still typically Chinese. Setting is fine but there's more of the dining area blocked off for events. The bathrooms have been fixed up slightly but it's still a weak point. What they still have is a bright and airy dining room with lots of light and space. They were never cheap but you paid for better quality and a nicer setting. The food used to be some of the best in the city with premium prices to match but now I see the food dropping off. The har gow is a good example. Identifiable chunks of shrimp has now given way to overworked paste and fillers. Hopefully the rising competition nearby serves as a wake up call and they shape up, but at the moment they are no longer the slam dunk recommendation they used to be.
