On our wedding day, the food was just as good if not even better than at our tasting. Several guests approached us to give their compliments about the meal, and my family who works in hospitality was particularly impressed by the level of care paid to every detail, down to the sparkling clean silverware. One of the best moments for us was seeing the entree Joe made for our vegan guest, who was nearly moved to tears by how thoughtfully it was prepared! Many times you can order ice delivery from your local grocery store...unfortunately in Harlem they don't seem to have too many galas going down or maybe I was hitting up the wrong people because I got a resounding round of "huh?" when calling up for ice delivery. So I went to the internetz. Queens Ice popped up and after a simple phone call and no credit card deposit I'd booked 500lbs of ice 3 days in advance. The rate seemed reasonable, though definitely not wholesale (I've seen cheaper) and since the load was divided into bundles of six 7lb ice bags I thought we'd be alright. Well, first they got lost and after 30 minutes of back and forth directions and cell phone calling the driver finally arrived just past the 2 hour window I'd given him. Once they unloaded I realized that I needed more ice...and then an hour later even more. Fortunately, they have a 24 hour ice emergency number so whenever you need him, ice is there. And more ice means more cocktails, more ice cream, more beer and more good times rolling...and that's just so darn cool.
