Excellent South Indian style food, served with pride and expertise! Come in expecting to be treated like a hungry relative and the staff...including the owner himself... will treat you like a treasured member of the family. We've been eating at Southern Spice since their old location in Flushing, Queens and they just get better and better. An expanding menu will keep you coming back for more and the old favorites are done to perfection. The chef will gladly adjust the spice level to your preference, from mild to volcanic. We prefer near volcanic, but that's up to you! Eat here, you won't be disappointed!

I've had Southern Spice bookmarked for a really long time and finally got a chance to visit. We didn't dine in the restaurant, so this review is for our takeout order via GrubHub. Disclaimer: I don't like to use food delivery services (especially for pickup orders) since their prices are always way more expensive than the restaurant prices. Ordering directly from the restaurant for pickup orders is the way to go! But someone gave me a gift card for GrubHub, so I used it on this occasion. What's for dinner tonight: (Note: prices listed below are restaurant prices, not GrubHub prices, which are $2-$3 more per item); -- Veg Samosas (2 pcs/$5): don't forget to ask for tamarind sauce and mint sauce! These samosas were ok. Pretty standard but not much filling inside. -- Butter Chicken ($17): this entree comes with a small order of basmati rice. I asked for this dish to be made "spicy" but it was very mild in heat level. This dish was very mild in overall flavor as well. -- Channa Palak $13): this entree comes with a small order of basmati rice. I asked for this dish to be made "spicy" but it was very mild in heat level. This dish was a little bit more flavorful that the Butter Chicken, but the overall flavor was very mild. -- Naan ($3): pretty standard. -- Basmati Rice: it's not listed on their menu but entrees come with a very small side order of rice. If you like more rice, best to order extra rice ($3/large). All in all, Southern Spice was ok. Not great but not necessarily bad. I grew up eating great Indian food and am used to much bolder flavors. However, the average "American" person will probably enjoy the food here.

This place is tasteless !! I would give it 0 stars if I can. I ordered 1 hour prior to closing and I'm wondering if they played into why my food tasted as bad as it did. My order was ready in 5 minutes, but typically when I ordered from Indian restaurants my ordered takes 30 minutes - 1 hour. I ordered the palak Chana and my chickpeas tasted wayyy undercooked. My boyfriend has the spicy vindaloo. He stays his meal was spicy but when I tasted it it didn't have much flavor to me. The garlic naan barely had any garlic on it. I don't recommend this place. No authenticity at all.

We were drawn to SS for delivery given its immigrant-owned annotation in DoorDash. With so many options, we were happy to support a local, immigrant-owned business. Great food! The menu has a lot of nice variety. The lamb korthu parota was unlike anything I had before - loved the spicy flavor, and there was enough for leftovers. I've had a ton of samosa chaats before, but SS's had a lot of great textures and was generous for the price. The dosa was perhaps the least exciting; I was hoping for a little more crunch, and the dipping sauces weren't what I was expecting. But still, I liked the flavor and ate every last bit. I'd maybe try another type of dosa next time. We'll be ordering from here again and hopefully will go in person soon, too.

Ordered take out with my co workers and this food did not disappoint. Every thing tasted home made and very filling. Lots of flavor, seasoning, herb and spices.

Ordered on ubereats. Honestly, the chicken tikka masala was very disappointing and does not taste authentic. By far, the worse chicken tikka masala I had. I rather eat a big Mac at McDonald's or something. Look at picture for reference. The chicken tikka masala has no flavor, barely any sauce for rice/dipping, and just tasted off. Look at the color too, its suppose to be some creamy orange tomato sauce. Creamy my ass. The paratha was bad too. No butter flavor. store bought frozen paratha taste much better than this. Threw 80% of the food away because not worth the calories of shit food and $$$ down the drain.

    Satisfying samosas.

The whole facility is grand, clean, and quite lovely. There's a beautiful garden area where he had our photographer take pictures. As my wife and I were planning this whole ordeal ourselves, we relied heavily on the Inn's guidance and recommendations. For the most part, they did not let us down. Julia, our wedding planner, helped us every step of the way. And she was great! As were Mary, the maître d,' and Courtney, my wife's adorable bridal attendant. All 3 of these women really did their darndest to help the whole thing come together and go as smoothly as possible. Even down to packing the food up after the party ended (we spent so much time schmoozing, we barely had any time to eat!) And a brief aside about the food: This was one of the few weddings I've (attended?) where all the guests RAVED about the food. May the Inn at New Hyde Park still stand 10 years from now so my wife and I can hold our 10-year anniversary bash here!

When I asked an employee to sweep a small area in the event space that had become dirty, the employee handed me a broom and dustpan and went back to the bar area to socialize with a colleague. The waitstaff is incompetent; they failed to remove finished drinks from tables or attend to guests at all. No one, including me, the host of the event, was asked by the waitstaff if they would like a drink or anything. The only things the waitstaff did were clean food off of tables when a course was over. Throughout the event, the staff appeared untrained and were unaccommodating as guests waited for assistance. In addition, we had no bartender throughout the entire event, even though "Bar Service" was included in our contract. Just a few bottles of red wine and champagne left on top of the bar. Throughout the event, I asked if they could put out white wine, a request they only fulfilled until 30 minutes before the event was over. After the event, we reached out to L, Director of Sales at The Inn at New Hyde Park. She refused to rectify the situation and uphold the contract we had with The Inn. After weeks of her not getting back to us with a resolution, she offered a refund that did not reflect their breaches in contract. Also, on The Inn's website, they claim to have won The Wedding Wire's Couples' Choice Award for 2025. This is false; they did not win.

They can accommodate for up to 25 children however the office needs to be notified of how many kids will be officially attending the party a week in advance assuming they want to make sure they have enough people to assist with the games. Planning a head is key since this place tends to book up quite quickly because they are available Friday, Saturday and Sunday only for 1 hour and 45 minutes. You are able to arrive 10 minutes the earliest prior to the start time for set up since all they provide are tables and the garbage bin in the eating room. I had quite a few friends come in to help out with the set up which is highly recommended since it will be difficult to set up by yourself in 10 minutes. We had set up the water, juice, plate, forks, napkins, cups (a cup filled with black sharpie pens to write your names with on the drinks) and the party favors on 2 fold-able tables that you can easily access and set up yourselves. The main table which are 2 benches placed side by side are already set up which is where we had the balloons attached and table cover set up as well. On the opposite side of the room which is right across from the windows of where you can see into the gym, has a long sitting bench starting from one end to the other end of the wall. Above that, there are hooks going across as well which made it extremely convenient for guests to hang their bags and coats. There is also a boys and girls bathroom (single use) and they do have a fridge but not available in the same room since I gave the cake to the worker and saw him take it down to the lower lever (gym area) to another room but brought it back out when it was time for cake. As for food, in my opinion, since it is a short time, it's best to provide food that is quick in easy for kids to eat, such has chicken tenders, french fries, sandwiches, chips, etc. I decided to go real easy and order pizza AND have it delivered at the time the kids would be eating so that it would be warm. I had the kids eat first which took about 20 to 30 minutes and they played for about an hour and returned for cake for the last 15 - 20 minutes we had left. The sports that the kids played were soccer, hockey and dodgeball. Keep in mind the majority of the kids were 5 to 6 so I wouldn't really consider them playing a sport but more of them having the freedom to run around a large space with balls and sticks. I am assuming if the kids were older, the 2 coaches (teenagers) would be more engaged during the game play but with my kids, they basically provided the equipment, music and made sure when it was time, they moved on to the next sport. At times, I felt that they could at least toss the balls back into the center but they would either just stand and watch or be on their phones. But nothing to really be upset about considering the kids were having fun either way. Few of the adults went to the end of the court and played some basketball. Overall, it was an experience and yes, I could have easily booked a party at chucky cheese or bouncy house/trampoline house but in my personal opinion, though it was work for me to bring everything in, it was private and the space of the gym was so huge, it didn't feel as hectic as the other party places and it was nice to be able to just sit, eat and watch while the kids played. Cost wise, depending on how you spend, it may come out the same but it definitely shouldn't be more since this place does not charge based on number of kids. The rent space is a flat fee of $300.00 (check only). So if you are someone who has 20 kids for a party, you know that just the kids alone will cost you double that fee plus more since you pay extra for food for adults, favors, etc. TIPS: If ordering pizza, order it from Previti & Papazzio located at 2085 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040 (516-354-2354) since they offer a small discount on the order if you have it delivered to the center. I would recommend the kids to eat first so that during the time kids are playing, the adults can watch from above and eat the remaining food (since most parents don't get to eat when the kids are eating) and when the parents are done, you have the opportunity to start cleaning up and even have the guest pack left overs (bring aluminium foil). You can also start bringing things to the car so that later on you have less to carry out. I had a sheet cake but if I were to do it over again, I would have went with cupcakes because you save time cutting the cake and serving it to everyone where as for cupcakes, guests just take as they please and it's faster to eat as well. Lastly, be on time since there are other parties before and after you. So you have to be out of the room, all guests, cleaned up and cleared out ON TIME. Delegating is key (let your friends help). Best Advice: Keep the party as simple as possible! Less is more :)

I had been to the venue twice before--my sister got married here and a friend had a bridal shower--so I already knew it was beautiful. But hosting our wedding here was something truly special. From the very first meeting, the staff made us feel welcomed, cared for, and completely confident that our day would be in good hands. The venue itself is gorgeous with a warm, slightly rustic, homey charm, but the real standout is the staff. They are some of the kindest, most accommodating people you will ever meet. We didn't even bother touring other venues because we just knew this was the place--and we were 100% right. We worked mostly with James and John, who ran our wedding, and they were both phenomenal. James in particular deserves all the praise in the world. He handles so many details behind the scenes and somehow always seems to be in the exact place you need him. He listened closely to what we wanted and went above and beyond to make everything perfect. He was even completely prepared for emergencies, pulling out Advil at one point and a tide pen at another... and right before our ceremony, my husband accidentally got water on his vest. James took it, dried it, and brought it back looking perfect just in time. It was such a small moment, but it speaks volumes about how dedicated he is. By the end of the night, it honestly felt like James and John were family. We're already joking about finding excuses to go back just to say hello. If you're considering this venue--stop considering and just BOOK IT! Stewart Manor Country Club is outstanding in every way: the staff, the service, the atmosphere, the care, the experience. We couldn't recommend them more.

He shows every bride and groom so much love and attentiveness, and his only response is "that's the way it's supposed to be." What's even more astounding, is that the Stewart Manor CC even helps with wedding planning. They provided us names of equally hypercompetent vendors who provided us gorgeous flowers, a tasty wedding cake, and a DJ who had everyone on the dancefloor til the last song. If you have an upcoming wedding, baby shower, Sweet 16, or just want to book a venue, the Stewart Manor Country Club should be your first and last stop.

The set up of the cocktail hour had very spread out seating, but most of the folks had to stand since there were not enough tables or standing tables to be comfortable. The food at the reception was okay but nothing to be blown away with. The cocktail hour had better items. The salad and pasta duo was okay but the pasta was more al dente than I like the texture to be. The layout of the reception hall was slightly odd since the couple's table was at the entrance of the reception room facing the DJ booth. The room itself was pretty spacious and it opened up to a patio area where they had desserts and a fire pit to roast marshmallows towards the end of the festivities. The bathrooms were clean and they had some products and toiletries to help freshen up before you return to the reception hall.
