Absolutely terrible distribution center. I dread when my packages get delivered USPS because I always know they're going to get bottlenecked in Omaha and be late. Most recently I had a package get checked into and out of two different facilities in the same day. On the 18th my package was accepted and shipped out from a facility in Franklin, IL then accepted and shipped out from a facility in Chicago, IL on the same day, the package arrived in Omaha early in the morning and then just sat there for multiple days without being touched. This is ridiculous performance from the Omaha crew. Either the employees or the facility management needs completely overhauled. My USPS packages are always late and it's ONLY ever Omaha that holds them up. Do better. read more

Literally the worst distribution center in the U.S. - the level of incompetence here is actually impressive. Regardless of lack of staffing, the current staff is still low IQ and terribly trained. Packages will sit here for weeks without movement. When they do move, they will go to the wrong local post office, resulting in them being returned to the distribution center where they will sit for another week. Shame on the post master. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Congrats Omaha Postal Distribution Center, you LOST my package! Or that's what I assume since it has been there and not moved and no one can seem to answer my questions. No one can call the center because "oh we use email not phones." What century do we live in??? My package was supposed to arrive in Wichita, KS on Dec, 19th. It was sent from Florida, to Chicago, to Kansas City to Wichita on Dec. 19th (where it sat for 3 days) and then it was erroneously sent to Omaha, NE on Dec. 21 and now is in limbo. Absolutely horrific.......the entire location needs cleared out of current employees and either restructured or closed. No variation....EVERY single time a package passes through this center it is either delayed, lost or rerouted to the the opposite side of the country. No excuse for this type of negligence. Apparently I am echoing what everyone else says to some extent but here goes. 1 time out of 5 if I have a smaller package it will go to Wood River instead of my hometown. Then Wood River puts it in someone elses PO Box with my same number. If I don't catch it and call Wood River's location then I am just at a loss!!! How does tracking not alert the Postmaster that the mail has been misdirected if I can read the tracking info and clearly see that it has been put in someone else's P.O. Box in the wrong town????? Most recently I had a small package misdirected to Sumner. Sumner doesn't even have a published phone number that anyone answers!!!! How is that safe or professional? All of the problems start at the Omaha Sorting Center. I have had packages sit in there for 5 working days!!! That is ridiculous. I understand there have been employee cutbacks, turnover, and all of that. I can sympathize with that, but how are the oldest packages not sorted first by at least the following day??? Please also to save yourself grief do not let anyone talk you into using USPS Ground Advantage. This is a scam the Postal Service came up with to provide more "cost effective" shipping as an alternative to Priority Shipping. The person selling the service to you at the counter will say that it will almost always be just as fast as Priority. That is a lie. That USPS Ground Advantage Label gives those Sorting Centers permission to keep kicking your package aside if they are busy for as long as they like. It is ALWAYS worth it to pay for Priority Mail unless you are comfortable with your package getting kicked around in a sorting center for up to (in my experience with Omaha) 5 working days. Unfortunately so many large companies are almost exclusively defaulting to using USPS Ground Advantage. It's just not a viable option if you want to keep any customers happy. Keep adding reviews people. If any of us ran a business like this we would lose it. Add more employees USPS Omaha Sorting Center and make sure they are conscientious and competent!!! read more

This has been MONTHS of everything we order taking a da*n vacation in Omaha. We've had food go bad. We've had presents be severely late. INSANE. UNACCEPTABLE. It cannot be that hard to transfer a package to Norfolk. And even worse, who in their right mind sends a package bound to Norfolk to Valentine only to ship it BACK TO OMAHA for it to likely sit around another week. You guys need to figure it out. I mailed a certified letter on the 10th from Elkhorn to Lincoln. It is now the 17th and it still says processing. It was supposed to be there on the 12th. This isn't the 1st time my mail is hanging out somewhere. I've had to stop payments on checks as they don't arrive within 10 days. This is the worst service. I was shipping a very valuable item to a customer and once it made its way to Omaha it started going in circles for weeks in their distribution center. I got in contact with local Omaha post offices and they informed me that the center is nearly all automated so if there's something wrong that the scanbots don't understand they will just loop it around on the carousel forever and ever with no one there to intercept it or even realize there's an issue. The kindly lady at the post office offered to send an internal email to the center, but said they have no other way of contacting it. It's been a month, and it's still stuck there. I lost money and my customer was upset. This was also a very rare item, only a few exist in the world. Up until recently, I trusted USPS. I want to support the postal service because it is such a big part of American life & history but it is experiences like this that are going to force me to turn to ups or fedex. read more

After calling the distribution center in Omaha five times over the last few days I finally was able to speak with a human being. Unfortunately, she works at a call center and could not help me. I'm not sure why it would take so long for a package to arrive in Texas from Iowa; especially, since we had the forwarding set in place a week beforehand. It's been 5 weeks now and no package. I'm sending the Omaha Distribution Center a map so they know Nebraska and Iowa are neighbors. I live about 60 miles from Omaha and they have sent my latest package to Spokane, WA. Can they get it any further away from where it is supposed to be? You guys are a big joke only because I paid lots of money to ship a package on April 4, 2024 and the package was suppose to be delivered on the 6th of April and here it is 8 days later and that package has not been delivered yet. All my tracking is showing that it is on the way and that has been since the 4th of April when it supposedly left your center. I will never use USPS again to ship my packages. Slowest package delivery in the country. I live right across the bridge from omaha and my package will always sit over there for 2-4 days before it gets brought across the bridge into my town. If i could give zero stars i would. I used to get mail pretty quickly but in the last few years it has been ridiculously slow. The Omaha distribution seems to be the problem. When my mail gets to Omaha they forward it back to where it came from or send it somewhere clear across the country or it sits in Omaha for days before it gets to me. For an example, i had a package coming, it was in Omaha, then sent back to Colorado then back to Omaha where it has sat for 3 days. This is common with alot of packages. Its so frustrating to pay so much for shipping and have them not get the packages to me in a timely manner. It's so frustrating and no matter how many people complain, nothing ever gets done about it. Like another reviewer, they have sent my packages from there to Spokane Washington. Who do we complain to. So tire of this mess and the constant delays. They need to hire more capable people or at the very least people who can read and know how to do their job. read more
