Average food and service - go there if you are totally out of options. Service is lackluster and servers are bored and uninterested. I asked for bacon as an add on for my breakfast meal and that didn't happen, no biggie as we weren't charged for it but still. We also ate lunch here, fish and chips was good, well the fish anyway, the chips/fries are straight out of a bag, well maybe not but they are a round fancy cut and seasoned. I have been to the Olympic Cafe a few times and always love the food. Last night I went with my family and we all enjoyed our meal. My parents shared the kalua pork burrito (because the portions are huge) and I had the hamburger with waffle fries. One problem I always have when I go there is that I can't make up my mind because the menu has so many diverse options. I have to wonder how fresh the food is when the menu is so large! My family is on the restaurant business so I know how hard it is to keep things fresh.... However, I never got the chance to find out! After speaking with the very cold manager, our party of 8 got up and left before we even ordered drinks! If you are going with a group, don't bother! The wait staff was very friendly. The price and selections were also good. The only problem I had was the cooks would not prepare the omelette I wanted. After having a heart attack, I am on a no cholesterol diet. I ask for an omelette on the menu only made with egg whites. I was told they would not do it, not even do r an extra charge. My wife enjoyed her meal, while I had a bowl of oatmeal. Not a happy start of the day. I could of made the oatmeal at home. This cafe is of my list permanently. read more

I came here with my family for dinner and Brian was our waiter. He was the best waiter evarr!!! He had great cadence and was very friendly. Brian gave great recommendations. We had kulua pork quesadilla, fish and chips, fish tacos, ahi wrap, pork burrito, and a bloody Mary. The Kailua pork was sooooooooooo tastyyyyy!!!! Definitely get that. They had good sized portions. I got the ahi nori wrap with side of papaya and wanted to cut back on the carbs, lots of mixed plates lately lol the kitchen was nice enough to sub rice out for lettuce. It's a great scene here with the view overlooking the central intersection in Kapaa. The veggie and tofu options to swap out meat were beyond ideal and a crazy suprise. The veggie burger is homemade and messy but good. I had it with the terryaki pineapple burger (subbing the meat) and it was a delicious mess. The fries were just okay and the terriyaki could have been a little more authentic but I inhale it. It was yum. My husband devoured his burger an nothing was left but swears of sauce and smiles. The bathroom is locked and downstairs out back in the parking lot area which is inconvenient but it is clean and spacious so it works. Overall a great spot I'd go back and I might before I leave. The food is not good. It's definitely mediocre/terrible bar food. The fish tacos were over cooked and super dry, the mangoes weren't ripe, the guacamole tasted like it was rotten. The server was nice abs tried to be helpful. Maybe just go for some drinks? I'll never eat here again. read more

We had dinner here twice while on our honeymoon because it was our kind of place - relaxed, non-touristy, and very laid back. The ambiance is great - nice and open-aired with great seats by the "window" that allowed you to people watch down below. Our server - we had the same one each time we went - was wonderful and very attentive. The food options reminded me of your standard pub fare with a Hawaiian twist. Everything we ate - kalua pork quesadilla, burgers, burritos, etc. - were delicious. They pour a stiff mixed drink, and they have a better than average beer selection as well. First night on Kauai and we walked down to Olympic cafe for a quick meal. The atmosphere was fun and we had a great table overlooking the bustling streets alive for first Saturdays. This place looked like a tourist trap from a distance, but we decided to just stop in for a few beers since they had an upstairs open patio that was quite inviting on a hot day. This place was a great place to grab some lunch after our hike that morning. Another recommendation from some locals that turned out to be alright. It was nice sitting up top overlooking the street below (except for all the birds! wow!!) and the service was fine. We recently spent a week on Kauai and ate here 3 times during our stay. The Ceasar salad is huge, and for a bit more you can ad local fresh fish. Delicious! I had the fish tacos, quite good but a little dissapointed on the portions. Tried the mixed seafood platter and this was quite good. If you come here for nothing else, you have to try the Kauai pie, their version of mud pie, with coffee flavored ice cream, chocolate ice cream, macadamia nuts, on an oreo cookie crust.
