Have been coming here since our first trip 17 years ago. This was a favorite of ours and we made a point to come every time. This time I was disappointed and insulted that Fox News was playing on a TV hung at eye level, right at the entrance. Today is April 10th. With what is going on in our country and world right now, it felt 100% purposeful... which now a days also feels aggressive. Great service staff was very friendly. The food portions are huge so come with an appetite. I had the ahi tuna nori wrap. It was full of rice veggies and ahi. The flavor was good and spicy with the creamy wasabi sauce. It also has a burrito tortilla around the nori wrap. It would be way better with out the tortilla. My daughter had the chicken burrito. It's really cool to sit at your table and stare out across downtown Kapa'a from above. It feels like you're at the center of town, like you're having lunch in Mexico. Yes! Overall, I thought this place was fine...they offer a nice variety of items to please most tastes. I was with a couple of other people and we shared a BBQ Chicken Quesadilla, which was alright. It was pretty tasty, although there was a bit too much BBQ sauce and it was overpowering. I ordered the Buffalo Buffalo Burger, which was pretty decent. It was a nice big portion, although the buffalo meat was a bit dry. The fries that accompanied the plate were actually very good. Olympic Cafe also had a special selection of housemade ice cream pies, which was pretty good. The restaurant is located right on the main strip of Kapaa and so if you get seated near the window, you get a nice view. This is a simple, casual spot and I'd consider going back for drinks since it has a laidback island atmosphere. read more

You would probably think bar food was going to be mediocre but this was worth the trip. We had Hawaiian Bbq pulled pork with fries and a wedge salad. Our server was Kaiaulani and she couldn't be any nicer or more helpful. If I was still in business I could have used 10 just like her. We come here every time we're on the island, vacationing. It's a great place with good service! The food portions are very large, especially compared to other places on the island. Their half pound hamburger, actually looks like it's a half pound hamburger. Their omelettes are large and delicious! And you get a huge portion of onion rings, for just a dollar up charge! The menu has a good variety of choices. It's on the second floor which overlooks either the ocean, or the city. Really enjoy it's Hawaiian type atmosphere. The portions at this place were generous. Prices were fair. Ambiance was casual. Food actually was pretty decent. Only 4 stars cause there are no kids menus. They have kid friendly food but it's nice to have kid portions and prices. Also I think they are pretty short staffed. Our waitress took an extra long time to bring everything. Took 15 min+ between checking on us each time. That's a long time to wait for ranch that was supposed to have already come out and a long time to wait for napkins. I think this place could really improve towards kids and it would be almost perfect. We had 5 kids ages 2-7. Was very very difficult to be there as long as we were when it wasn't very busy. Located in Kapaa around the little downtown area off of Kuhio is this upstairs bar/restaurant that has TVs to enjoy games and a great view to see people traveling throughout the street. We originally wanted to try to eat at another place but the wait was too long and we are hungry for brunch on a Sunday and what was nice was that they were playing the Sunday football games which was great. They were busy but we were able to get seated right away. We started off with waters and rounds of drinks, I got a Bloody Mary which was pretty good, my friends got margaritas and a Jack and Coke. For our orders, I asked what was popular and decided to go for the Loco Moco which was pretty hearty. Two of them got kahlua pork, eggs, and rice. And another got a kahlua pork burrito which was also hearty and we got to take home the leftovers. We hung out to watch the game and the bartender/server convinced us to get a round of shots. Parking isn't too hard in that area and the bathrooms are located downstairs outside of the building for guests. read more

We decided to stop in for a lazy brunch, and chose Olympic Cafe on our way up the coast exploring. The building is quite old/historic and shows its age, but is generally in well kept condition. As another review noted, the entire place would benefit from a serious hot water power wash, to get the stickiness off the tables and the booths. The food portions are large - consider splitting a plate if you are so inclined. We ordered 1 Loco Moco and 1 breakfast quesadilla. The loco moco would have fed the 2 of us, and provided leftovers. The quesadilla was filled with bacon and cheese and came with a generous plate of fresh salsa-Fresca, fresh guacamole, and sour cream. I also ordered a Bloody Mary without reading the menu - holy cow! The Bloody Mary came with enough "stuff" - asparagus, celery, soy hard boiled egg, sausage, cheese, olive, pickled onion & carrot, and pepperonis - it could have been considered an appetizer on it's own! The service staff was super friendly, welcoming as we arrived, offered us our choice of seating, while recommending a booth overlooking the street to watch the world go by. This place was a GREAT unexpected find. Hubby and I were on our way to a different breakfast spot but it was way too long of a wait. On our walk back to our car we saw this place and decided to check it out and we are extremely happy we did. I got the Kalua Pork breakfast burrito (it was HUGE) and it was DELICIOUS! Hubby got the French toast. They use Hawaiian sweet bread and you have your choice of regular or coconut syrup. The coconut syrup was delicious. Service was fast and our waitress, Tyra, was extremely friendly. If you can snag a table by the windows it's a great view to people watch and enjoy the surrounding mountains. Honest opinion again, Here I go.... Taste of the food was great! Lots of flavor with something so simple such as the sausage, pepper, cheese mix up I got. Scrambled eggs cooked pretty good. Our server Emma was terrific! We ordered a cold beer from the nice selection of local choices. My hubby got a burger with the Mac salad. It was yummy! I enjoyed the Kalau pig platter with coleslaw , rice and fresh whole sides of pineapple. The pork was perfectly cooked - moist and delicious with great flavors. A side of bbq sauce was included but honestly all you needed was a touch of cholulu hot sauce to enjoy the flavors of this tender meat. Fresh, light, tasty. Love this place and it's a must when in Kauai. The food is excellent and the views are great. Service is on point with just the right amount of attentiveness. I love their loco moco, it's definitely one of the best I've had. Fiancé got the tuna melt and also said it was one of the better ones he's had. We just stopped in a hot day while out shopping for a cold beer and a light snack but I would go back for the full meal as the burgers and sandwiches looked enormous and delicious! There are also big screen TV's to watch sports and the open air has a very nice breeze so it is actually possible to cool off for a bit. Great drink men and cold beer as well! read more

Please take the time to read this review. This is our first family vacation to Kauai. Zero stars!! The worst service ever. The bartender messed up our drink order and refused to give us the drinks we ordered for free. She put up a fight with our waitress. Our waitress even offered to pay for our drinks when it wasn't her mistake. We spoke to the owner and he was beyond unprofessional. Instead of finding a resolution to the problem, he only made matters worse. He sided with the bartender over $9 mimosas. When we told him that we weren't paying for drinks we did not order, he told my sister, who just got married right before breakfast, "scr*w you". Unbelievable. Unacceptable. The owner threw in a couple "F*** YOU" The owner was only concerned about the bill. Which he kept mentioning throughout this whole situation. When some of us walked out, the bus boy.. yes the BUS BOY, yelled off the porch "...FA***T" and continued to yell out to the newly married husband as he walked to the car. Take note that he's working on the clock!!! He needs to be FIRED. He wasn't even part of what was going on. He was able to continue his shift. SMH. Oh and I can't forget to mention that he raised his hand like he was going to hit my sister (the new bride). This day is supposed to be such a special day. This horrible horrible service definitely left a mark. What a place. This is being reported to higher authorities. We are not letting this one go. We still had to pay for the food that was ordered.
