Olsens is a great local farm/ ranch supply. The help is always courteous and very helpful. You can find all sorts of interesting items from hummingbird feeders and other bird feeders to heavy duty buckets and troughs or large waterproof bins for loading up with ice and beer wine etc. and of course they have bails of hay for your animals. Olsens at any location is terrific. When I moved to Prescott in 1999 I went to Prescott Olsen. There was a seminar offered on feeding horses. My horses have always been on pasture, So I knew I needed to learn more. It was a full house. But before it ended, someone in the back, called my name. He was a surgeon I had worked with on the Big Island of Hawaii when I was on call for my Maui hospital as a surgical RN. So another person I knew had discovered Prescott. I've been shopping at this local business for over thirty years. I find their feed prices competitive with the "big box" stores. I know that if I go to the counter and order a 50-lb. bag of feed it will be delivered to my car without my having to lift it off the stack. They also have the best dog treats. read more

Good morning! I've shopped at Olsen's in Prescott now for at least two years and I love it! I found the crushed corn and layer pellets in small portions which is perfect for my chickens needs. Everyone is very attentive, caring and they focus on customer service. I visited Saturday, November 2nd., to purchase some chicken layer pellets and dog food and Paul, as usual was very willing to help me, with that pleasant smile of his. I shop locally in Prescott whenever I can. I am happy that I am able to support a locally owned and operated business. I have to say that Olsen's staff has always treated me well whenever I go in. The staff is always polite and helpful. They load my heavy bags of feed and hay without hesitation and always do it with a smile and "thank you". The store isn't so big that I have to be a sprinter to get from one end to the other in a reasonable amount of time either. I hope people moving to the area appreciate and support our locally owned businesses - it is what makes our community a "hometown" and separates it from the cookie cutter communities of California and other less than desirable parts of the country. read more

Rude people. Poor service. Didn't seem to be willing to help when obviously it was needed. A service industry should be knowledgeable and friendly. And if they don't have an answer (understandable), they should be willing to try to make an attempt to find one. read more

If you are older or have pre-existing conditions that would cause you to have a poor outcome if infected with covid, don't shop here. It appears they don't care about protecting customers. Contrary to Walmart, Tractor Supply, True Value and others whose employees wear masks, Olsen's employees not only don't wear masks, but they also stand within 2'-3' of you. When they state they enforce social distancing, that's a lie. Inside a bldg, even if they -were- standing 6' from customers, is not enough. If you must purchase from them, I highly recommend you do not enter the store for your own safety. There's a reason the covid infection rate is climbing in AZ (April 2021. This shop has a great stock of items for your animals. I like the layout of the store and their prices but I will not shop there again. Prescott is a nice place, with really nice people. There have been very few times I have seen rudeness. This Olsen's grain store has guy working for them that did just such a thing. After observing his rudeness towards a customer in front me, I approached him and asked him if he thought that was the way to treat people? He proceeded to display such defensiveness that I knew there was no getting in there. So, I did something I regret. I purchased my dog food and left. I will not be a customer of theirs after this incident and have found a wonderful "mom and pop" store up the street that will match prices (Pet care center). read more

Had the unfortunate opportunity to visit this location with my grand daughter on 09.24.16 @ 1130am. Not only was I not greeted, I was refused service. First by the helper person in the back of the store who told me that the taste of the wild was not the store brand as was explained to me by another employee on a different occasion. And then I was refused service by Jackie at the cash register. Since I fetched my own 40 pound dog food bags, and bird food bags, I was clearly focused on my granddaughter who was at my feet, she is 19 months and I only have a small window of cooperation from her, I proceeded to unload my cart. As I placed the first bag of dog food down on the counter, I inadvertently placed the dog food bag on top of Jackie's fingers. To be honest, I did not see that Jackie even had her hands on the counter. And here is my question...if you see that a customer is going to place something large on the counter wouldn't you want to move your fingers?? She shouted at me that I did, in fact, see her fingers on the counter and intentionally placed of the dog food on her fingers? I am sure that my face was stunned and it took me at least 10 seconds to respond back to her. My grand daughter at this point was getting upset by all the shouting and wanted to be held. I again apologized to Jackie on 5 separate occasions but she could not recover and proceeded to scold me as I apologized to her over and over again. It got so loud, that the other customers who were standing behind me in line starting to move away, least the get yelled at as well. I then explained to Jackie, how the young man in the back did not want to wait on me. She then stated to me that she "found that hard to believe," (basically calling me a liar) and still continued on her rant... she felt that I had broken her fingers....Jackie at one point, she asked me if I wanted to do this? Do what...I am not sure as I was just standing there? Again, I was confused, I just wanted to pay and go. Jackie then told me that she would not wait on me because I was violent and might throw the bird food at her next. At this point, Joyce finally came over to ring me in. Jackie's last words were "try and have a better day". You can only imagine what my response was back to her. It's a sad state of affairs that two seasoned employee's can treat people so poorly. I asked for the manager, and was told that they were on vacation and that Joyce was in charge. I believe in buying local but I think it's time to order over the internet from this point forward. read more

I went in to get pet tags and was just so blown away at the local feel of this place. Puts corporate places like Petco to shame. I am not a happy camper !!!!! yesterday I asked for panacur wormer as I was buying other things..... I was told by the woman at the cash register that Exodus was the same thing in generic ! I did not have on my glasses and I made the mistake of trusting her !!!!! they are NOT the same ingredient at all !!!!! if she doesnt know what she is doing she shouldnt tell someone anything at all !!!!! this is the second time someone there did not know their own products ! you cant sell products if you do not know them ! they are supposed to be a specialty store, and should know what they are doing! it would be different if your buying it at wallmart I would not expect them to be knowledgeable !
