We have used Petsmart for grooming services for years, after bad experiences with other groomers. Our 5lb rescue needed monthly nail grindings and they were always very kind and gentle. Not easy to grind the nails of a quivering chihuahua that looks like she is being tortured. We came here with our adoption coupon book to get our newly adopted Miss Loki her swag and necessities. The staff were so excited for us and made our Gotcha Day even more fun! Some of the staff work/volunteer, at the Yavapai Humane Society, and instantly recognized Miss Loki(Kiwi), dropping to the floor to cuddle and play with her. As much as I appreciate the outstanding staff, I do wish they had more of a unique selection, in pet items. Even if these items were offered as a special order. Miss Loki will start her obedience class next week. We will let you know how we liked the trainer and if we were asked to leave‍. Loki is a little energetic and curious. read more

Rudest cashier I ever met. On 11-05 I went in there to get a bag of royal canin for my cat because it was close to Costco. I get the bag look around a little bit and get in the line for lane 2, after the cashier finishes with the people she was checking out she gives me this nasty look as I walk up. We had a Standard Poodle we took to Petsmart. He came back with a neck injury and the calcanial tendons in his rear legs torn. They insisted "nothing" had happened. Been going for 3 years and they have done a good or adequate job. I always book on line for convenience and have never had a problem. This time when I picked up my dog I see additional charges (scissoring for one). I did not add those on and they were not mentioned to me. They were on the form I signed (same form as always) but I didn't note the extra charges because they weren't mentioned and I never had a problem before. At 100+ a visit I will be finding another grooming salon. It's a good distance for me to drive and this was my last visit. Unethical. read more

Needed to buys some doggo toys for my doggo so she doesn't get so bored being inside so much. It's just too HOT for any living thing to be outside. I'm not made for this Arizona heat. I need to go back home to Oregon. Anyway, when I checked out.... for some reason the cashier added up all the toys wrong, but I didn't figure that out until I got home. SoOooOooo...I called the store and they told me to come back and they would fix the problem. It was just too hot, so I actually went back the next morning. When I returned with my receipt, the manager of Petsmart helped me out right away. He saw what the problem was, fixed and gave me a refund. He was great. Hassle free and problem free. Can we give less than 1 star? Paid $75 plus tip to realize my dog was never washed. Got in the car looked down and my shirt is covered in fur. The groomer had a horrible attitude didn't spray him didn't have a bandana on him nor did they want to justify the situation. Oh and for the cherry on top there was an employee eating while grooming a dog. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. The grooming salon people terrorized my dog and when I picked her up she was emotionally scarred. They refunded the unused services money I paid for the grooming package. The hidden room in the back is suspect. I wouldn't recommend taking your pet to them. read more

I tried to get 4 fish but the "expert" fish girl told me that in 7 years the fish when the reach full growth will fight each other. so she refused to sell me 4 of the fish i liked to purchase... this is sadly not the first time this has happened i also tried to by a dozen cheap feeder gold fish to feed my catfish the fish "expert" looked horrified that i was buying 2$ worth of goldfish as feeding fish. Petsmart grooming has done a nice job on my dog before but not all their groomers are attentive. My recent appointment with Joanna was terrible, my goldendoodle came home with multiple lacerations and cuts from the razor. She told me he was hard to handle but he had never come home from an appointment with so many cuts before. The previous groomer from petsmart told me he was gentle and sweet so it was clearly the approach from Joanne. Additionally, his muzzle, paw pads and ears were not done and I called petsmart 5 times to get him back in for a touch up. Each time I was placed in hold with no one returning. My doodle is prone to ear infections so I request he be shaved under where his ear droops. Only one ear was done and it was crooked as you can seen in the photo. There is also a large cut there that he keeps itching. Sadly, I feel like this could have been prevented with a more gentle approach and with a call back to rectify the hair cut errors. I hope petsmart grooming makes customer service changes. read more

Poor service and unhelpful when you can actually get an employee to engage. Service staff huddling in what I'm guessing is the managers office, obvious avoidance of eye contact when a customer obviously has a question. Dismissive and unhelpful once you finally get one cornered. I won't be spending any money here. There's just too much competition today for a business to have poor service and survive. i was very disappointed. Their philosophy is to never say no to your pup. They seemingly think the dog will stop doing bad behavior if you ignore them, such as jumping or barking. Before I took the class, I tried positive only training. I learned my pup needs the word "no" to understand what he can and cannot do. What did me in was our first class where a dog barked continuously. Every time he stopped barking for more than a few seconds the instructor THANKED him and gave him a reward. He'd bark, and she'd reward him. I pointed out he was learning to bark more because he got a reward. She wasn't interested. We also had to use certain words in training, not ours. It was her way or no way. I quit. We are looking for a class where the pup is trained and rewarded appropriately. Through repatition my pup is learning and doing well. Petsmart did give me my money back after the one class. read more

I got to see the store from the other side, and not as a customer. It's amazing what the staff goes through to bring pet owners a stress-less shopping experience with and for their pets. Cats, Dogs, Birds, People all over the store, the staff helping everyone, pointing out deals. Pet Adoptions, Santa pictures, grooming, Controlled Chaos, run with military precision. Military Precision??? Yes, scheduled PMI&C (Preventive Maintenance Inspection & Cleaning) on all pet habitats, daily OPS (Operation and Situation) meetings, QA&C (Quality Assurance & Control) logs, constant OJT (On the Job Training), remedial training, and more. When it's time for us to get another pet, PetSmart is where I will go. Especially if it is one of Arlin's stores. read more

If you shop here on a Sunday prepare to be disappointed at many levels. First, no manager on the floor or any employee that can help you find things or ask you if you need some help. The fish area was manned by an employee that looked bored even though there were customers buzzing around the fish tanks. No initiative to ask any customer if they were interested in buying fish or products. One cashier working for approximately 5-6 customers in line. Why wasn't another cashier called to help? I've been taking my maltese here for a couple years for his grooming. They've always been very courteous and friendly. A special shout out to Thyme for doing a great cut and nail trim. My dog is a tiny 14 year old with delicate skin and he has never been traumatized when I pick him up. He's especially cute and happy after he gets all spuced up. Nice clean store too!! read more

Everything is great while this store takes your money but if there is a problem do not bother going back.After 60 days it is not their problem any more or nor do they care. Worst customer service given by a very indifferent Manager. I bought a wire brush for my dog and it just fell apart. I did not keep the receipt as my house would be filled with paper for every little thing. I paid about $ 20.00 for this brush.They do not carry it any more. ( I wonder why). My little dog was going into shock while she was busy tapping away at the computer giving me prices. She never took any ex-rays which she should had done as my little dog was mauled by a rottweiler . She stitched the little dog up and sent me home with my little Gabby who died the next morning. When They called to ask how she was ,I ask to speak to the vet that was now somewhere out of state and the person's response when I chastised the care they had given my dog and sent her home instead of keeping her there was " We are not God" I should have know better than ever go back to this dreadful company that is all about the all mighty dollar! I wish I could give a great review for the groomer Thyme. She was highly recommended and I went to make an appointment for my two Havanese. Her earliest appointment was several days after I went in. I checked in with Thyme and my two dogs. It was to be a 4 hour appointment for wash, routine trim and brush.... When I picked them up I asked where Thyme was and the two gals said she was in the back! So...I asked who groomed them? These two gals said, "we did". So sad my request for a specific groomer was not respected. I even went in the day before to make sure Thyme had me down for grooming. One of my Havanese was not trimmed around her feet and her face was not trimmed around her eyes. Don't think I can trust the groomer department.
