Crested Geckos (In the hide that faces the store, so the purpose is completely defeated. They are near-dead and very sickly)

If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. Petco has absolutely no business in selling exotic pets, especially reptiles and amphibians. They are kept in terrible conditions 24/7 and the tanks are far too small. Animals of the same species that should not be housed together are crammed in tiny enclosures together, such as ball pythons. They advertise many of their animals as beginner pets when, in reality they are not. Personally I have seen dead baby crested geckos, bearded dragons, and leopard geckos. Often they are looking worse for wear, with ribs and hip bones showing. As far as poor enclosures, let's take ball pythons for example: The rule of thumb with snakes is, two sides of the tank should be equal to the full length of the snakes body or LESS (and they should NOT be kept together unless for breeding, which in this case that is not what the circumstances are since they do not breed the animals in store, and their ball pythons are not sexually mature) however the sides of the tanks combined are not even AS long as the full diameter of one snake, given that the snakes are longer than THREE SIDES of the tank combined. Also let's take a look at the likelihood of the animals' mental health given the obvious horrific physical health. Leopard geckos for instance are territorial, solitary animals that should only be kept together in pairs of two under extremely unlikely and rare circumstances. They keep over three leopard geckos in a tank at once. They would probably be fighting if they weren't depressed and lying down with labored breathing all the time. Every one of their animal species requires a hide to shy away in order to avoid stress and feel comfortable If you've been in the store, you have probably seen those half logs, right? Believe it or not, those aren't even eligible to be considered hides. A hide should have an opening just large enough for the animal to fit inside, and should ideally only have one opening with plenty of space to hide inside. The half logs are in nearly every reptile enclosure and almost none of the animals have an actual hide. Let's go back to the leopard geckos. They have a horizontal hide which has ramps that go to various levels. This isnt really an issue, but they face the opening side towards the glass face, so you can see everything in the hide. They are exposed to the outer lights and any people who may come along and stress them out. This is also the case for crested geckos. Speaking of which! Petco has a rotating stock, however more often than not, they will have crested geckos and crimson giant day geckos. These are arboreal species, meaning they spend most of their time high up in the trees. They need a vertical tank setup in order to simulate this as accurately as possible, and plenty of foliage to climb and hide in(fake or real plants will work) they are however set up in small(per usual) horizontal or even just cube setups with little to no foliage at all. The chameleons(which are usually always in stock) are in one of the largest tanks, however they are still not adequate setups. Chameleons need PLENTY of ventilation which usually means two or more sides of the tanks are made of mesh. This is not the case. Again, to be noted, chameleons like many many other animals they carry should NOT be kept in groups more than 2 individuals. They are another species that should ultimately be kept alone. Petco has usually 4 minimum to the enclosure but the I have seen them keep over SIX individuals in the same tank which has no ventilation. The list seriously goes on and on and not ONE of their enclosures is humane or ideal when it comes to reptiles and amphibians. Please, please, please do NOT buy pets from here. In more cases than not, your animal will die, and this is most devastating for new owners. If you are a keeper, especially a beginner, you are probably very eager to get your first reptile/amphibian. And while your local petco(or petsmart) may seem like the most convenient option, I encourage you to order online, rescue from craigslist, or travel to an out of town or local store because these corporations do not deserve your money. Every experienced reptile owner knows that petco/petsmart are bad news, and should be avoided if possible.

DO NOT take your pet to get groomed at petco. my dog ended up in the 24 hour ER because he was all off balance and his back legs were spasming to the point where he couldn't walk straight and he had marks all on his stomach after i picked him up from getting a shedding treatment. his blood pressure was in the 200's at the vet also from the stress. my post is public now so SHARE THIS!!!!!! #shutdownpetcogroomingeverywhere

On my most recent visit (couple of days ago), I was surprised to see the store has very little stock. Not sure what's going on, but there was far more empty space on the display racks than there was product. If I had actually needed something, it would not even have been worth going in. Additionally, the entire time I browsed the store, neither of the two workers behind the counter bothered to ask if they could help me. They only said "hi" in response to my first saying hello.

During that time have been dog mom to six dogs, four of which have visited the store with me. We drive up from the valley several times a year. Upon our most recent visit a gentleman decided to tell me all about my dog, her teeth, and what she can and cannot eat. She's been eating WB treats for her entire 14 years of life. If we are on a trip up there without her, we bring some back to her and her sister. If she is with us, she gets to pick. This day she wasn't interested in any of the handheld offerings, so he continued telling me about her teeth. The cold, hard truth is - my dog reads me. That's her deal. She knew I didn't like him, so she didn't like him, so she didn't want any of his selections. We wound up spending like $5, against his better advice, which is far less than we usually spend. Hell, we bought our first dog stroller there many moons ago - back before they were a common thing. I was really unimpressed this visit and will think twice before going in again. Thanks for nearly ruining one of our favorite spots. :/ (He mentioned he's the "only staff.")

The previous owner was extremely personable, polite and displayed gratitude for her customers. We never had any issues until the second owner took over. At first, she was great, very bland personality but did a good job so we continued to patronize her business. About 9 months ago I was on my way to take my dog to get groomed and he had started to develop symptoms similar to he ate something bad or was ill. He began excessively vomiting and seemed very lethargic. He had not ever experienced anything like this before and it was so sudden so I became concerned took him to the vet and they told me he needs to rest and lots of fluids so I had to cancel my appointment. Of course, I missed the appointment as I was at the vet, it was the first time I have ever missed an appointment. The vet said he needed rest and didn't think it would be wise to take him in case he had the flu. So I called the owner apologizing profusely and she was not understanding she did not care about the well-being Of my animal. I did not want to risk getting any other pets sick! You'd think she would appreciate me not wanting to possibly get other dogs sick. Fast forward to this incident I had an appointment scheduled for February 18th at 9 am written both on my paper calendar and my phone calendar. I walk in and she abrasively says your appointment yesterday and I apologized and said there must have been a misunderstanding because I wrote it down on two calendars. *** SIDE NOTE***this same incident has happened to SEVERAL customers according to her yelp reviews and googles reviews so I am NOT the only customer this has happened to as she claimed I was the only one ) *** She goes into saying all these unprofessional and abrasive things and begins to make comments about my life how I need to manage my and priorities differently. Mind you, I run several businesses and a family so that was not relevant obviously she felt the need to pick apart someone to make herself feel better. I understand how challenging it can be to run an independent small business however it's all about being professional, having grace, post your rules and regulations in case of a missed appointment as salons and other groomers so. She obviously seems to have deeper issues and I believe that is a reason why she hashed out so incredibly volatile. I will never bring my business to doggie delight and all the other customers who I referred years ago to get their pets groomed as a result of my experience will take their business elsewhere.

Will never take my pups there again. The groomer has a nasty, snotty disposition. I think she…read moreshould find another line of work. My dogs have been going to groomers all of their lives and are not afraid to go, but they always trembled, and tried to climb up my shoulder when I took them there. Made me wonder if she abused them. In addition, if you miss an appointment, she does not call to find out where you are, remind you of the appointment, or attempt to reschedule you, but instead will not reschedule until you have paid for the missed appointment. I have known about four other people who she did this too that no longer go to her. I would give her zero stars if it were possible.
