I stumbled upon Olor on a random Tuesday afternoon, and I was very pleased with them! The coffeeshop is small with only a few tables, but it's a lovely space to be productive for a few hours. I went with a standard Vanilla Latte, which I really enjoyed. Their espresso was very smooth, and the amount of vanilla was perfect--I have absolutely no complaints. The barista was also super nice and efficient. Overall, it really hits all of the requirements for an ideal neighborhood coffee spot. I was able to get a lot of work done as well, which I appreciated! They had Wi-Fi and outlets, and the environment was quiet. I definitely will be back! read more

I had to do a review this time because we witnessed an unfortunate, unprofessional interaction between a customer and the male Barista. The customer immediately requested for a refund after taking a sip while in the shop. Customer expressed that the Matcha drink tasted only of milk. The Barista declined the refund because the matcha was "ceremonial grade" and it tastes like milk because there is milk in it and did not offer any other solution. His tone was argumentative and condescending. I'm not a matcha expert, but the service was terrible. There may be many kinds of ceremonial grade matcha and it was not what she probably was used to, but there is no way to talk to a customer that way when she was speaking from a concerned tone. Location: great location. Ampule parking. Quality of coffee: It was bland for my liking(also tasted like mainly milk) and I can see why people would like to add more syrup or flavor. Stopped into Olor Coffee for the first time while I was in Lincoln Park and had a great experience. It's a small, clean, well-kept shop not a ton of indoor seating, more of a grab-and-go vibe but it was a nice day so we grabbed one of the outdoor tables, which worked perfectly. The staff was super friendly, and my cold brew with a shot of vanilla syrup was really solid. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but honestly felt worth it for the quality of the cold brew, the service, and how nice the space is. Loved this neighborhood coffee spot! My friends and I were visiting Chicago from California for Lollapalooza and were recommended this place by a local. It did NOT disappoint! The iced matcha lattes were tasty without being too sweet and the chai latte was one of the best I've had in a long time. The shop felt very clean, bright, and minimalistic. We noticed that many customers were regulars and the staff seemed very comfortable around them. Went to Olor for my first time this morning + it was such a cute little spot! I ordered a blueberry donut along with a cold brew with hazelnut syrup and both were delightful. Service was great in the beginning, we paid about 10$ or so for a matcha latte. But when I received it, it was a very pale green. The taste was nothing like I expected, I didn't assume it would be the best but it was truly the worst matcha latte I've ever tasted. It was astringent, tasting like straight up whole milk with a weird aftertaste. When I stated that I did not enjoy the taste and told them about the lack of flavor, there was NO effort to resolve the issue. Instead the male, black haired, barista with an accent in the back gaslit me, saying that's how "good matcha" was supposed to taste. The blonde girl in the front also did not offer any resolution whether it was a refund or another drink. He claimed it was "the best matcha in the world" and "ceremonial grade" which is far from the truth. I say all of this while being a barista myself. In the US, the term ceremonial grade is stretched thin due to the lack of regulation involved with import and production. He also said the bag he used was 100$, which is actually the bare minimum for most large bags of matcha. He kept arguing with me and being extremely rude, lying through his teeth instead of accepting an honest mistake. Truly the most unprofessional service experience I've ever had, he had no decorum. I'd avoid this place at all cost if not for the poorly made drinks, but for the deplorable service. I would say waffle house is more professional than this poor excuse of a coffee shop read more

Olor Coffee was the meeting spot for a friend of mine while I was in town for a conference. They are a small coffee shop located next to DePaul with a few small tables and wall outlets. On a Friday morning, it was very quiet and so my friend and I were able to easily catch up. The space is small and there wasn't a lot going on, so be cognizant of what you're sharing as it felt like others could really hear you if they tried lol. I ordered a Chai Latte with Oat Milk (all vegan friendly - checked the ingredients) and it was great. I've long wanted to try Olor; I am in the area sometimes for work and I like giving new coffee shops a try. I'm glad my curiosity has been satisfied, but I won't come here again. I asked if they had any specials, really surprise they have none. The guy said just the flavors. Really? What makes this coffee shop special when if I went a mile or so away, I'd be at one of the best shops in the city which does indeed have seasonal drinks in addition to their standard ones? When I came in, it was really wet outside. This place has nice shiny floors but the rug is just in front of the counter; they didn't have anything going from the door to the counter. The dude working laughed when I was tentatively walking to counter to place my order--which I was doing because I had slipped on the wet floor literally the moment I walked into the shop (I guess in addition to deciding against rugs, they choose not to mop up the wet tracked in by customers). I almost walked out at that point but I wanted to grab a couple warm drinks for my SO and myself and didn't want to have t drive around for it since I was already here. There was only one person working. It wasn't terribly busy, I suppose; however, it sounds like that might be standard operating procedure around here based on other reviews. If I'd had to wait behind two or three people for the same person to both take orders and make them, I'd have lost my patience before it was done. The shop is small. There's half a dozen tables or so. Parking is street only and it's metered. The Fullerton stop is just a few blocks away, so that's another option. read more

That coffee smell Walked into @olorcoffeebar today while in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and it was such a great first impression. The cafe interior is gorgeous the white and greenery definitely makes this a place I would want to sit at for a while:) The coffee that's pictured here is a caramel cold brew with almond milk & iced vanilla latte both of which were off amazing quality! I wish I couldn't gotten some of the bakery items however they were out by the time I got in there so hopefully I can go back and try more things!:) The service was incredible everyone is so nice and helpful! I had the cappuccino and my husband had the cold brew. The cappuccino was delicious and was great for walking around in 20° weather. My husband got the cold brew and it wasn't his favorite. Olor Coffee has been on my list of coffee shops to visit for about two years. I live in the western suburbs, and one day happened to be invited to a birthday dinner in the Lincoln Park area. I decided to drive down a few hours earlier to walk around the neighborhood and saw that Olor Coffee was still opened for one more hour. Upon entering, I was welcomed into a quiet and calm space. There are a few tables and stools to sit at. It definitely looks like the kind of space people spend hours at. There was a girl painting at a table while enjoying her drink, a couple quietly playing a board game, and a few other people ordering drinks and sitting at the tables, quietly conversing with their friends. The man at the counter, who I believe is the owner, was so helpful and attentive. I ordered a black coffee and he spent his time brewing my drink. My coffee was great - it was smooth and strong. I sat down at a table for about twenty minutes and honestly just people watched while enjoying my afternoon. Quite a few people walked in to order drinks to go. Olor Coffee is dog friendly - you can bring your dog in while you wait for your drink. I absolutely enjoyed my time at Olor Coffee and will definitely make the long trip back just to visit again! read more

I am so glad I finally tried Olor! I have been disappointed by every coffee shop, local or otherwise, as the coffee is either too bitter/dirt-like in taste (Cafe Deko, Big Shoulders, etc.) or too light/weak/milky (Starbucks, Oromo, etc.), or just not great/needs half/half for some palatability (La Colombe, Ludlow, Cocoa+Co, Vanille, Verzenay, Oromo, etc.) Most cafes have a TON of syrup varieties, specialty drinks, and seasonal lattes... all the bells and whistles, but nearly all lack a solid, simple, traditional latte. This was the first time, in a very long time, where the first sip of my latte was divine. Rich, bold coffee taste with the creaminess you'd expect from a traditional latte. Excellent. Small space and limited seating are the only downsides to Olor; I've stopped in thrice in the last week, and each time the tables were taken by single-occupancy students/workers sitting on computers. Although, given the environment and location, I can understand why people enjoy sitting here on an early morning to read/work. I just found the perfect local cafe. Thank you, Olor. read more

I went here on a whim because I needed some coffee, and this place happened to be the closest! I didn't order one of their signature drinks, but my usual (cold brew w oat milk) is what I got and I'm not a coffee expert, but i thought it was good! But the real highlight for me was the pistachio donut! By far one of the best donuts I've ever had in my entire life and I still think about it. We finally got to Olor by DePaul campus today! It's been on the must-visit list since it opened, and today our need for coffee and a pastry aligned right there in that small, minimalist-modern cafe. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, daughter ordered a hot chocolate. My latte was good, next time I'd ask for extra ice because I like mine extra icy. Daughter's cocoa was "good, not bitter which I appreciate". I'd heard the pastries were good and they were: we got two old-fashioned donuts: chocolate and cinnamon. Both were outstanding! The cinnamon was similar to a coffee cake. The chocolate was very dense with a rich dark chocolate. Better love chocolate for that one! So good. Our server was efficient, and we walked there so didn't need to find street parking. read more

Bought a coffee listed at $5.00 and paid in total $6.13, an added cost of 22.6%. When I asked to see the receipt, the coffee was 5.25, not as listed on their adjustable pricing board. Cashier explained they have not adjusted the prices on their board (how long does this take - 5 minutes?!). The balance were taxes of 11.75% (10.25% regular sales tax + .5% restaurant tax + 1% MPEA) and a 5% credit card processing fee. None of these additional charges for coffee and processing fee was listed anywhere. I do not trust this business and it left a bad taste (no pun intended) for 3 reasons - 1) they do not honor their established pricing and charge more even though nothing indicates this, 2) they are charging 5% for processing fees when on the high end the max is almost always 3.5% (and, legally cannot exceed 4%), 3) they do not have any signage which is required indicating they are charging a processing fee. I do not like being nickeled and dimed by hidden costs and illegal processing fees (be upfront or don't charge). This might be small change for some, but it is not honestly presented in an upfront, forthright manner and does not endear trust. First time and last time I do business with this business. read more

I'd heard about this new coffee shop and checked it out with a friend this morning. It's a lovely space - very clean and bright. The guy (who I assume is the owner) is very friendly. I stayed for a bit to do some work after my friend left and Wi-Fi worked well and I love all the natural light. The reason I'm taking off a star is because they were out of all teas, except matcha. And the matcha latte was almost $7! [I never order this so I don't know the typical cost] I already had coffee this morning so was looking forward to a chai latte, or at least something besides coffee. But there were no teas available because they hadn't arrived. I got an iced matcha latte since that's all I could get that wasn't coffee. It was good, but not my favorite flavor profile for a tea. I totally understand supply chain issues because I work part time in retail, and I've also worked in a coffee shop so I know that ordering when you first start can be hard to predict. However, there is a Whole Foods down the street with good teas and it would be easy enough to purchase some to use until your shipment comes in. Getting creative is part of owning a small business, so hopefully this resolves. I'll definitely be back when I want some coffee, as it's a great space and service, and I like to support small businesses. read more

Came in to meet up with a girlfriend/work remotely. I discovered Olor Coffee on Instagram and read a little bit about the owner's story. Super authentic guy who has a true passion for coffee. Obsessed with how clean and bright the space is...the green tile on the ordering counter is to die for! I got there right after opening and was able to find a table next to a plug. I ordered an 8oz cappuccino with whole milk--hard to go wrong with. Nothing stellar but was still good!
