Think about this place like a thrift store - some items are in great condition, some are passable and ok for a season, but you may have to lower your expectations if you are looking for super low prices. But knowing that some new bats are $100+ or even upwards of $250+ a pop, getting a decent one for 50% off retail is great when you don't have the luxury of waiting for sales. And if you are conservation minded like me, the fact that this stuff isn't just getting thrown out and can be used for others is a plus. They also obviously have softball, football, hockey, soccer, and other sport supplies in stock. And the store did not smell like a nasty locker room, which us a great sign.

I brought a friend who's new to golf to try some irons. We were told to wait, and after about 10 minutes, an employee named Dan took us to a simulator. When my friend said he wanted to "hit balls," Dan immediately got condescending and reprimanded us, even though it was clear my friend was new and simply misspoke. Later, when I asked to try a couple clubs while my friend grabbed others, Dan asked if I planned to buy anything. I said possibly, depending on the data and pricing. He responded with a sarcastic comment implying I was just there to "bang balls," then walked off saying, "have fun banging balls." The entire interaction was unprofessional and left a really bad impression. Unfortunately, I won't be returning after this experience.

One of his better qualities is that he doesn't push the new gear, club heads or shafts, onto you unless he knows it'll help your game. I cannot tell you how valuable that is during a fitting. I have heard too many bad stories from other premier fitting locations, CC or others, where that isn't the case. Another great thing is the equipment is an ongoing conversation and we have discussed tweaks to lie angles and lofts depending on misses or gapping issues. Nick is also the best builder in the entire area. Every club he has built me is spot on. I have sent dozens of friends and students who say the same thing. His attention to detail is impeccable. Note: Whenever I drop something off, I always follow it up with a typed message with all the specs, grip orientation, etc. just in case he's busy. Lastly, Nick is a great guy and very humble. From the start, the fitter took time to understand my current setup, typical ball flight, and what I was hoping to improve. Instead of rushing into swinging clubs, we talked through my strengths, weaknesses, and playing habits. The fitting itself was very detailed. Using launch monitor data, we tested several different club heads and shaft combinations. I was able to see real numbers like ball speed, spin rate, and launch angle. Doug explained everything clearly and adjusted clubs throughout the session so we could dial in the best combination. I am excited to get the new clubs out on the course and play!

After watching me swing my old club and some new ones he said that there was no doubt that I'd benefit from different clubs but, at the moment, he couldn't recommend what clubs in good conscience. He told me that before I looked at different clubs, I needed to be able to hit my old ones as well as I could and I wasn't. Once I'd maxed out my old ones, then I look for the ones that would make me even better. The rest of our session was spent on analyzing my mechanics. What he said defied the conventional wisdom that golfers read and most pros teach. He said that based on age, physical condition, and other things, I was no longer "conventional" and to re-orient my thinking from what the book says to do and find what works. He said that in compensating for my slice, I'd developed some habits that severely impacted my distance. Physics is a thing. We ended with some drills to work on to correct those problems and gave me some criteria for evaluating their effectiveness. He said when I met those targets, I should come back and we'll see where things are. If you're serious about improving your game, I recommend setting up a session with him.

I asked that a club they reshafted for me be extended 1/2" bc I believe the rep wrote down the wrong length on the work order (honest mistake), the employee treated me like absolute dirt and said "I assume you don't want to be charged anything for that too, correct?." It was an easy fix that would have cost them nothing other than 15 mins of a club tech's time. Been here probably 300 times - won't be returning. And I doubt they care. He was so rude and condescending.

When the elevator finally got to my floor, a staff member rudely scoffed at me and quickly pushed the close button furiously before I can get on the elevator. Wow rude on a whole other level. Also avoid the elevators if you can because you might run into the elevator troll and get denied access for no reason.

My wife and I bought a treadmill from Dick's a few weeks ago. To be clear, this is a treadmill you…read moreassemble. The unit was defective, there was a pretty clear issue with the electronics. We asked to return the item *day of* purchase and asked if Dick's could just pick it up. The staff was rude and said to return the item everything must be put back into the box "as it was" when we bought it. Our question was basically, how does that make sense? How is that a 30 day no questions asked return policy? It's a 248 lbs machine in several steel parts that they wanted put back into a styrofoam and cardboard box. We asked if we could just bring it to the store assembled and the person on the phone said no to that as well. Also, the Dick's churn and burn business model is to always have new people working so no one really fully knows what the policies seem to be, including the managers. It's not the workers fault, I get that, but man is it frustrating. I'm just going to buy from the manufacturer from now on.
