Did some browsing in parts of the store. I was looking for some swimming accessories (swimming cap, shoes, etc.). First floor had a section, and the second floor had a shelf of items. I only got 1 of the items I needed (cap). For the other item (swimming shoes), they did not have my size available, but the price was reasonable. I saw they had a selection of outdoor camping chairs upstairs. Many were available. Most places charge a high cost for these outdoor chairs. Here the price ranged from $9.99 to $90. I like that you can buy it online and have it shipped to their location. One my way out, my friend came across a section with apparel that had "GOAT" on it with phrases like "Be the Greatest" or "Greatness with a side of Butter". I thought they were cute, albeit pricey. This place is open while they are having construction so the place is covered in dust. Asbestos anyone? I needed to take the elevator during my visit. When the elevator finally got to my floor, a staff member rudely scoffed at me and quickly pushed the close button furiously before I can get on the elevator. Wow rude on a whole other level. This place is nice to browse and shop but maybe wait until they finish their renovations. Or bring a N95 before you get lung cancer. Also avoid the elevators if you can because you might run into the elevator troll and get denied access for no reason. read more

My wife and I bought a treadmill from Dick's a few weeks ago. To be clear, this is a treadmill you assemble. The unit was defective, there was a pretty clear issue with the electronics. We asked to return the item *day of* purchase and asked if Dick's could just pick it up. The staff was rude and said to return the item everything must be put back into the box "as it was" when we bought it. Our question was basically, how does that make sense? How is that a 30 day no questions asked return policy? It's a 248 lbs machine in several steel parts that they wanted put back into a styrofoam and cardboard box. We asked if we could just bring it to the store assembled and the person on the phone said no to that as well. Also, the Dick's churn and burn business model is to always have new people working so no one really fully knows what the policies seem to be, including the managers. It's not the workers fault, I get that, but man is it frustrating. I'm just going to buy from the manufacturer from now on. read more

Average Dick's Sporting Goods and fairly comparable to the other locations in Maryland. There isn't anything special about this location, but it's much more organized and cleaner compared to the other locations I've been to. I went the night of the Nationals 2019 win with family to try and buy some merchandise. Within minutes there were a few items that sold out but we still were able to purchase a few t-shirts and accessories. Inventory: Very well stocked in general. There's a ton of items to choose from and merchandise is organized by sport as well as brand. I'm sure there's also a rewards program where points are contributed towards coupons and discounts for future purchases. Interior: My family and I were immediately greeted as we entered. There were snacks and bottled water available for free right at the entrance. It's an incredibly large store with two floors of inventory. There's escalators in the center of the store and I believe elevators too. It's easy to feel overwhelmed but it's also a great opportunity to spend hours of your time shopping and looking for something that you really want. With that also being said, it can feel time consuming and draining if you don't see anything you like. Definitely a hit or miss shopping at Dick's. There's also a really cool baseball and golfing section where you can test out the equipment physically and virtually. Price: In my opinion, Dick's is definitely a bit overpriced. I can find similar products and merchandise elsewhere at a lower cost. Their items are still affordable, I think it's more just out of convenience in having everything available at one place. Service: Average customer service. The employees don't really make the effort to help you unless you ask them yourself. They are however, incredibly attentive and will assist you almost immediately when asked. Parking: There's a garage that's free with tons of space. It's directly across the entrance of the store so it's super convenient and hassle free. This location gets the job done. I would still recommend others to check it out if they're ever looking for sporting goods. read more

This is my one stop shop for my sporting needs. Since Sports Authority went out of business. I love Nike graphic tees, most places run out of size s, but here Im in luck. Theres two levels so if you're into sports you need time and shop alone or people who won't nag you that youre taking to long. They carry nice kayaks and water type sports equipment. If your into fishing like my pops come here first! If you're into soccer, come here! Swimming etc, come here, they carry nice swim caps and quality goggles! If you're in competitive swimming they carry nice selections of Speedos. Tennis! Yesss, they have it all here!! I love sneakers, and most times my first pick is available in my size. Customer service is good, I never have problems however Idk because of the pandemic if they cut on scheduling but staffing is scarce. Good look trying to get help. Lines can be long, which can be expected. Parking, is a pain. Its really not nearby unless you're lucky and found parking along the stores or restaurants. You can park in nearby parking garages. We are regulars at this Dick's Sporting Goods location. This is convenient for us and we are generally able to find parking in the garage next door. The store is huge and has a nice selection of gear for most of sports. Thy even have a good selection of kids gear and clothing. The staff is generally available to help and provide assistance and they do a decent job of making good recommendations. They are more expensive than some online retailers but it is so convenient to stop by and try before you buy that we generally end up just buying it at this store. read more

This review is strictly for the golf department as I needed to get my clubs regripped. They had a pretty good selection to choose from and in different sizes if needed. It's $3/club to regrip plus the price of the grip which I thought was decent. They also were able to regrip all clubs within the hour, so I was really pleased I didn't have to leave them overnight. read more

I'm going to be honest, this place is a complete disaster. At first glance, you would have no idea that nobody knows what's going on. The florist stocked well with new attire/equipment and the store is pretty clean. But when you actually want to make a large purchase things start to fall apart. We stopped by a Thursday night looking to kill some time. Once upstairs I spotted a piece of exercise equipment that caught my attention. Unfortunately none of the employees in that department knew how to use it. They weren't able to tell me anything about the warranty, nor did they have specific information. I was told several times I could find the information I was looking for on line. That really isn't the best way to sell me on some thing. I told them I would be back tomorrow to pick up the item because it needed to be disassembled. They took down all of my contact information including the price that we had discussed. While on my way back the next day I called to make sure the item was ready for pick up, no one was even in the store to disassemble and it wouldn't be ready until that evening. I called again about six hours later and was told they were still working on it. It was unprofessional considering this was not the first time I had called that day. When I finally arrived at the store the item was placed in my car and I was told to have a good day. It was a little strange considering I had not paid for the item. It was a lot of work to actually get someone to take money for the item. Considering how expensive the item was I'm a little shocked. Once they did take my money they quoted me significantly more than it was sold to me for the day before. I will say at the end of the day everything worked out, but I don't recommend purchasing anything large here read more

Horrible service, terrible Attitude and "I can escort you out of here" is what we received here. My wife wanted a pair of running shoes, so we all go (2+2) have dinner at rio and then walked over dicks. As she is trying out shoes at the 1st level, I tell my 2 well behaved kids (9 and 6) let's check out some golf gear upstairs, we spend a few minutes looking at stuff my kids ask "dada can we putt for a few minutes?" I said sure so I walk with them to make sure there is an adult presence and supervision. There was no golf ball there so I ask the associate there to if he can give us a golf ball. He tells us "I have decided to shut this part down and that it's not a mini golf" I look at him and ask him well even for the patrons and customers that are purchasing sporting goods here ?!?! He responds "Well are you buying a Putter" I said no but my wife is buying shoes downstairs and i am looking at some golf gear here. needless to say i was pretty surprised by his rudeness so i tell him "its pretty stupid" to "shut this section down" he proceeds to tell me "i can escort you out of here" in front of my kids. i laughed and said no you cant and l left on my own. needless to say the young man working there at the time (Saturday May the 11th of 2024 at 6pm) has a lot of learning to do. There are ways you can deliver a message to your paying customers without actually insulting or verbally threatening THEM. good luck to you in your life whoever was working at the time listed above. read more

I used their shoe kiosk and it took an hour for them to find the shoes. An hour. People were cutting the line they kept promising I was next. Worst service of any store I have ever been to in my entire life. Finally one functional employee found shoes for me. If not for her I'd have walked out. I had a very bad experience in this store when I took my racquet to be restrung. Not only took them a week and a half over the quoted time to finish it when I finally got my racquet back it was not done right !!! So I went back and they gave me this very childish explanation as of why it was done wrong and they told me it was gonna be ready the next day But it wast not of course and after many calls It was finally my racquet was ready to be pick up again, only to find out that it was also done incorrectly It seems that in this overly priced store nobody really knows how to restring a racquet properly I am never going back to Dicks again read more

I've had great experiences shopping at this store. I have always been able to get assistance from associates. When an item is not in stock, associates are helpful with ordering the item through their system which ensures free shipping and the takes the headache out of remembering to go home and making the order when I get home. The golf department is highly knowledgeable and skilled with their fittings. Bob in the bike area has been there forever! He knows what's in stock and and all the in's and out's of repairs and what companies will do what. I highly recommend Dicks for any sporting good needs! read more

Sad how nobody has the cognitive ability or motivation to work or do a good job. I went to Dick's in Frederick Mall to buy a couple of pairs of slip-on shoes. I was helped quickly and the sales kid came back with my size shoe, he then disappeared. I wanted another pair and had to look for him. He was with two other sales kids shooting the shit. I waited to get anyone's attention and nobody cared so I left and went to another store. It was a complete waste of my time. read more

I was disappointed with my experience at this particular DICK's. It pains me to give out bad reviews but I didn't think that ordering a rain jacket online was going to give me all sorts of trouble. I called to check on a Columbia rain jacket in store and the representative was rude and didn't bother to check for my size. I proceeded to order a different size for in store pick up and unfortunately the fitting didn't work out so the store rep. ordered a different size. I used my friends rewards program and he accidentally put my friends address as the shipping address and not mine....what a nightmare! It was one thing that one store rep. was rude which was bad enough but it's ridiculous when they couldn't pay attention to the details and get the transaction right. I may have to travel a little further to the Frederick location next time for a better experience. read more

Let me start by saying that I appreciate all of the hard work that goes in to keeping a store line Dicks running during the Covet 19 holiday season. I went into Dicks to look for 2 bikes for Christmas for my 2 sons. We have been buying bikes for ourselves and our 6 kids since the store first started, many bikes ago. I went in this afternoon to find 2 bikes for my 10 and 12 year old sons. I found a "Mongoose" brand bike which I had never seen before. There was no info such as cost or details regarding the bike. It was dusty and looked like it needed to be cleaned up. Upon investigation, speaking with a junior person, asking about the particulars, I was told that they had found it during their inventory audit. I was told that the bike was old and that management was trying to decide what price to put on it. All of this sounded reasonable. A manager was called to help finalize the potential sale. The managers name is James. He came to the department and conversed with the gentleman I had been dealing with. After a bit of time, James concluded that the price Dicks s Was willing to sell the bike for was $169.99. Ok, I said, I'll take it. At that point, James put a sticker on the bike for $169.99. The other guy continued to tighten bolts and make sure all was good with the bike as would be expected from this above average retailer. Very happy with the price as I was also looking to buy one of the other in stock bikes they were offering at a much higher price as well as other sporting equipment. At that point, James, a person of authority as I was told, said he misspoke and should probably sell the bike for $250, and proceeded to remove the price sticker of which he just told me and put on the bike. Now, let me say, I'm not saying the price was out of line but being I. Sales myself for more than 30 years, you can't tell a buyer one thing, make it official, get their acceptance, and then change the price! I expressed my disappointment to no avail. It's not the $80 that bothers me, it was the lack of appreciation for the word and the verbal contract given by Dick's and totally disregarded. I agree with the posts which state Dick's is expensive. I do really like the customer service provided to me each time I visit. Whether I am just browsing or looking to purchase, the sales associates are very approachable and informative. I also had a positive experience with their return policy. Very simple to follow and the associates did not give me a hard time when returning the merchandise. read more

At 5 pm on Sunday in the shoe department is the unhappiest most useless store associate. Asked for his assistance with shoes and got an attitude. When I asked questions, he gave me basic yes/no answers and honestly just completely turned me off from ever wanting to shop here again. Only fools pay retail, I guess? Having been in here a few times there aren't a lot of things I would buy. Clothing and shoes here are usually at full retail price. No reason to pay that here when online shopping is easier and often cheaper. The reason to go to a retail store these days is getting thinner and thinner, and it's largely about service. But I've not seen any real help here for fitting or special services for things like tennis rackets. They seem to have minimal staff, and I can't imagine how they could ever train them in all of the enormous variety of things they carry. This Dick's is big; maybe worth hunting for some deals or just browsing. But I'd rather shop at a specialized retailer for a particular sport, or online. read more

With Sports Authority gone, Dick's is the remaining big box gear store. Fortunately, they've got the field pretty well covered. Two floors, with departments for exercise, weights, ball sports, running, swimming, a rock wall, hunting, fishing, golf, camping, and probably a few I missed. I would still go to specialized stores for gear I'm particular about,like REI for backpacking or Golf Galaxy. I did not interact with any employees, so no comment on service. Big, free parking garage across the street. Prices are pretty much MSRP but keep an eye out for frequent sales. And they do have a rewards program but I've never bought enough stuff to get any. read more

Employees here are like unicorns-virtually impossible to find! Other than the two(!) cashiers stationed at the register, there's max one or two employees visible at any given time despite the massive size of this two-story store. Spent literally 15 minutes trying to chase down an employee to help me find a specific shoe I was looking for. After running up and down the aisles to no avail, I finally gave up and went to one of the cashiers, who called someone over to the shoe department. Even then, I ended up waiting another 10 minutes for an employee to *finally* show up. She ended up not being much help, brushing me off to rush back to the dozens of other customers requiring assistance. This store is clearly under-staffed, and customers have to pay for it in the form of lost time and inconvenience. read more

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. Every time I go here they don't have what I need. Today was the straw that broke the camels back. I came in to purchase a bat with my child. I was told no one knows how to help size my child and if we wanted to try out the bats it would be a $25-$50 fee to use the cage. I messaged other parents on my child's team and got an estimated size. They apparently only had one bat that fit the size (they didn't try hard to look at all) but it didn't work for my child. They said sorry nothing else they can do and wouldn't even look for additional choices. Beyond frustrating when you are going to be spending over $400 on a bat. We will be going elsewhere. read more

I'm going to leave a disappointing review BUT I want to be clear up front that, understaffed as they are, I found the floor staff to be friendly and genuine and helpful. I saw a Rockwellian tableau of a boy getting great help with a fishing rod that was very cool. That said, when did Dicks become a clothing store with an embedded water bottle boutique? Camping and outdoor sports such as archery or climbing or backpacking barely have a presence. Sports gear (balls and glove type stuff) is almost all for kids or youth sports with little for adults. This may be their new customer demographic but a Sporting Goods Store? No longer! Lots of yoga, running, and spirit gear for losing teams though! I've shopped inline and picked up 2x so far and my wait time for each purchase was under 5 mins!! I tried to exchange a pair of shoes here. Granted, it was a pair of Hyperdunks and basketball shoe "season" is over. The store had none in inventory. The manager said it would be no problem and even waited on hold for 10 minutes to secure the transfer of the shoe from another store. Awesome. I was impressed. He said he would call when the shoes came in. So I waited. And waited. Over the next month I was promised call backs that never happened. I contacted the store several times after they neglected to call me back - each time with a promise of a return call and the shoe. After about 5 weeks I gave up and bought the shoes I was looking for at another store. I would be totally happy if they called after 2 weeks and just said they couldn't get the shoe. Good intentions I think. But failed miserably in actually delivering, and in customer communication. read more

There are many Dick's Sporting Goods around the nation but the one at the Washington Center used to be a Galyan's, widely known for their poor customer service. Since the new management slapped their symbol on top of the warehouse-sized building, the Under Armour section has grown and fishing licensing is now available on-site but the assistance department didn't improve one bit. The staff continues to act like dicks. They lack enthusiasm in any part of their jobs. Questions go unanswered, products remain in boxes all around the store, and the check-out staff could care less if you get out within 45 minutes. Helpful is a foreign concept but at least the prices are high. read more

This Dick's is a disaster. They are understaffed, the sales floor and aisles are cluttered making it hard to maneuver through the store, the merchandising is sloppy and illogical, and my personal favorite - the dressing rooms smell like rotten Limburger cheese and look like they haven't been cleaned in years. I wanted to try on a few items so I rang the bell in the dressing room area and waited... and waited... and waited. I walked around the sales floor looking for someone to let me in but there was no one to be found. I didn't even see anyone at the cash wrap. Finally, a customer who had somehow gotten into one of the rooms let me use it after she left. I like Dick's (that's what she said) but will not be returning to this location. read more

Dicks is a pretty large sporting good store and they have a good selection of sporting equipment and camping gear. I buy a lot of my work out clothes from here and though it can be a bit expensive sometimes, you can find a nice deal when you get them on sale. My husband loves camping and he has been there a few times to pick up supplies. He says there are much better stores that specialize in camping gear and he prefers to go there, though. Downstairs they have mostly clothes and some sporting goods, but upstairs they carry most of the larger items. Golfing clubs, bags, etc. As well as kayaks, tents, guns and ammunition. I would go here if you're looking for something like work out clothes, weight sets and other miscellaneous items (like good quality water bottles and such), but not if you're looking for more specialty camping supplies. You're better off at an Army Surplus store. read more
