I've only dined at Olivit twice but both times, I've left this restaurant with a full and satisfied belly. Their food is incredibly fresh and when the grilled meats are brought to the table, you can tell that they're fresh off the grill. This kind of genuine freshness is difficult to find at restaurants now a days. I love their lamb and kofta kebabs. They are both incredibly tender and flavorful. I usually visit this restaurant with my mom and we order the 2 for $20 platter which is PLENTY of food. It comes with pita bread, 2 salads, 3 large kebabs (chicken, lamb, beef kofta), 2 (unecessarily) huge servings of rice, and grilled vegetables. I was full off 1 1/2 of the kebabs and the salad alone so although $20 sounds a bit pricy, you are getting a lot of food and excellent quality! The cherry on top is that the staff is very welcoming and the servers are attentive and down to Earth. I like this restaurant! read more

The low rating is more for the service (or lack thereof) than the food. I would give the food 3 stars. We visited on a Tuesday night at 5:45PM and were the only ones there. There were three servers present, one waited on us while the others did side work. A second table came in right as we finished our food and our waitress could not handle getting their drinks and checking us out at the same time. We waited 10 minutes just for her to take the check. Food was ok, french fries were frozen steak fries and tasted like they used old oil to cook them. The hummus was super smooth and creamy but lacked flavor and the pita bread was just so-so, nothing special. The gyros were good, nice ratio of meat to veggies/sauce. It was good, nice flavor, but with the slow service, I won't be back unless I'm in area and it's convenient. So me and the hubby came on a good night. The atmosphere is dim and very intimate. Good music playing in the background. If it were up to my hubby he would give it 5 stars. *Now for some background, we have never had Mediterranean food. So with that being said: As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our waiter was very nice charming and helpful. Sodas are bottled so you do have to pay for a "refill" For an appetizer we got the spicy hummus which we both loved! The new its bread was so fresh, warm, and soft. It was actually the best part of the meal. It isn't Too spicy but it does give you a kick in the mouth. My hubby got a gyro and I got a lamb kabob (I think that's what it's calle) it looked like a skinny burrito if that makes sense. The lamb was very good. Cooked very nicely. My hubby enjoyed the gyro and stated that the tahziki (some sauce) was good. The only negatives was cleanliness. The restroom was clean but the toilet seat covers and paper towels need restocking. There wasn't any! And when we left there were condoms on the floor. I know it's not the restaurants responsibility for the outside but it was right outside the door. Don't know what to get? Try the Chicken Tekka. Unbelievable taste. I was apprehensive about this place because Mediterranean can mean many things from Greek, Spanish, Italian or North African and I am not well versed on any of them. Spicy hummus was amazing. Bread was delicious. However when it came to the meal it was pathetic! My husband and I both got the two meat kebab plates and when we received our dishes, there was literally 4 small cubes of meat. Let's be real, rice and veggies do not cost a lot so we felt like we were paying $3 a cube for this $12 meal. Not impressed. This was our second time back and we were giving it a second chance. Went there for dinner. The spicy humus with the fresh hot pitas was great. Spicy enough to give it flavour but by no means hot. I also had the Lamb Quallayah. I enjoyed the spices in the sandwich, however fairly greasy. I do realise I'm at a Greek place, so grease not too much of an issue. The atmosphere was a bit disappointing. It was a tad dark and seemed a bit dirty. The front was a bit cluttered with furniture and coolers stored in disarray. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, Olivit was a good experience. The hummus is AMAZING. The bread comes out fresh and hot. The lentil soup is the best I've ever had. They gave us a fresh lemonade with mint and milk which was sinfully delicious. Then we had a salad, which we were fighting over, it was so tasty. We finished it off with creamy chicken tekka with rice which we though we would be too full to finish but we polished it all off. My friend and I came here to eat gyros. The pita were nice and soft,and very fresh. The meat was good and the thing was absolutely overflowing, it was hard to eat gracefully. Don't eat a gyro on a first date, I'm just sayin'. I have had tastier gyros, and I have had gyros at a mall. This falls right in between. The fries, I swear they took a potato in the kitchen and cut it up then and there, they were so fresh. They were thick cut fries, not greasy, plenty of them, and very hot when they arrived. My friend got her fries 5 minutes after I got mine, we ordered at the same time. That is why I think when the kitchen gets an order for fries, they cut up a potato and complete the order. Then they look at the next order. Oh, fries? Let me cut up another potato. The service was not very good though. There was a help wanted sign on the door. I asked for some more sauce and it didn't come til I was done with my gyro and didn't need it anymore. They took a long time to do anything, a long time to seat us, a long time to bring the check, a long time to pick up payment. There were plenty of patrons inside. It's on the dark side in there, sparsely decorated but that's okay. You're just not going to get Nico Nico's, nor their prices!!! Olivit is pretty inexpensive. It's an okay place. The band I play in does a show every other week at the Paradise Springs Assisted Living Center in Spring. Since our show is in the morning, we tend to have Saturday afternoon lunch together and we move from restaurant to restaurant in the nearby area. That is how I found Olivit Mediterranean Grill and I am so happy I did. Any good such meal begins with hummus and bread, and Olivit is fabulous for this. They have several types which are all fantastic. You also have the option to go veg with hummus instead of bread; our table tends to do both. I am not the most adventurous, so I tend to stick to kababs and gyros/shwarma. Olivit is top notch for such staples. Add in the rice, potatoes, Greek salads and all the rest and you have some pretty sporty eats. My friends love the soups and vegetarian dishes as well. The portions are Texas size, so it is impossible to go away from there hungry. We always take some home. Since I don't live in Spring, I don't get there very often which is too bad. I thoroughly enjoy it every time we dine there. I believe you will, too. read more

I absolutely love this place! I adore Mediterranean food. Especially when it's done right. The hommus, baba ghanouj, and tabbouleh are all delicious. I've never had the sandwiches but my step dad always gets them and he loves them. Me and my mom always split a large rice dish that I can't recall the name of. It's a delicious saute of rice, slivered almonds, chicken, onions and other vegetables. It is always served with a few pickled beet sticks that add wonderful flavor when you take a bite of one with your food. I've also had the baklawa which was also extremely tasty. They're flaky and nutty and they melt in your mouth! This place is great because it is right down the street from our house. It has definitely become one of our regulars. read more

I have been coming here for at least 2 years now and have noticed some changes throughout the past year. This review is from a recent experience. You don't get what you paid for anymore. The prices are ridiculous for what you get! For almost $12, you get a plate that has TWO pieces of chicken and TWO pieces of beef with rice and a few slices of tomato. For $16 you get about 6-8 cubes of chicken.. Which is basically one skewer of meat. The chicken is still flavorful but everything else is a disappointment. The baba ghanoush lacks it's smokey flavor. The Zenga soup is spicy, but lacks any flavor; the only experience you get is the burning sensation in your mouth from the spice. The rice tastes like it came out of a box (and I could be wrong that it is, but I have had better). I really used to love this place and now I don't go as often anymore. Nice looking place with decent service and a large menu of solid Mediterranean food. Some of their prices are ridiculous though, especially for the appetizers. I love that they have a half-appetizer option, but $5.49 for 3 small pieces of falafel is just terrible. Noteworthy items here include their pita bread (comes with appetizers) and their chicken shawerma wrap. Their pita is thicker and more doughy than the typical pita, and comes out fresh, hot, and delicious. The embedded sesames give them a great smell and taste. One of the better pita breads around here for sure, but maybe just a bit overly doughy. The chicken shawerma wrap ($6.25) might just have best chicken shawarma I've ever had. I don't know why every other place seems to have dry chicken shawarma, but here it was juicy and flavorful with a light grilled flavor. Been searching for this forever! But unfortunately, the pita bread for this isn't anything special and there's nothing else in the wrap except pickles and a little bit of garlic sauce. It would've been great to have some lettuce/tomatoes/onions at least, but I know a lot of places make chicken shawarma wraps like this. Also the garlic sauce wasn't anything special either, too bad. Both Alwadi and Zamani have better overall chicken shawarma sandwiches because of this. For appetizers, I'd recommend the hummus (so you get their pita), which is pretty good, and on the thicker/creamier side if you like that. Skip the falafel which is decent but overpriced, and doesn't come with a very good tahini. The kibbe is alright, but the ground beef is a bit too chunky, and the tzatziki is also not that great. Sauces seem to be a weak point here for some reason. read more

I love this place for a quick gyro and schwarma to go. The only thing is if you don't want pickles on your schwarma or something else, make sure they check before you walk out with it. We have been coming to Olive for years. We don't get by often, but when we do it gives us what we expect. This is a tiny restaurant in a strip center with a limited number of tables. They try to give cultural ambiance relative to their food and they've done a nice job, but it is not a fancy place. The food has been consistent through the years and wait staff can be stretched thin when the place is busier. We normally have the spicy hummus appetizer, grilled plate of one type of another that comes with a soup or salad. The hummus is wonderful and served with several nice hot breads. We love the zenga, a spicy lamb stew and the lentil soup is good also. The chicken skewers are tasty and not dried out. The beef and lamb skewers are cooked a bit more than my taste, but they would probably adjust this upon request. My husband had the lunch mixed grill recently which has a variety of their grilled meats accompanied by a lovely mixture of grilled vegetables which were not cooked to death. I think this dish would have served us both considering we had the hummus appetizer & zenga already! read more

Very disgusting restaurant. Not only was the food not cooked well all the meat was either dry or burnt. The place was filthy and I saw cockroaches roaming around. The owner sells microwavable macaroni and cheese to its customers thinking we wouldn't know the difference. In fact, the only thing that isn't microwaved is whatever they cook on the grill which ends up being too dry. I believe the owner is under paying the staff and not putting money into running a decent restaurant and it shows! The only saving grace for this place was the customer service from some of the few workers in there who actually care about their job. WARNING! Olivit Mediterranean Grill will over charge you - check your bill!!! Well Olivit finally lost our business! After years of putting up with sub-par service and mistakes in our orders, the food usually more than made up for it! But tonight was the last straw! Apparently they no longer honor the prices on their menus, the prices on their online menu or their To-Go menus!! We paid $10 more plus tax for our order, they refused to honor the menu prices and then they forgot my husband's Soup (which I repeated to the man taking our order twice) We ordered regular hummus with lamb tips which is supposed to be $7.49 by one menu, $8.49 by another and they charged us $9.49. Then we ordered the 2 for $20 for 3 kabobs (1 kofta, 1 Tarook and 1 either lamb or beef) and it comes with an extra side, soup or salad. Well it's not $20 - they charged us $3.50 for my salad, an extra $2 for lamb (no mention of extra charge on any of the menus) and they forgot my husband friggin' soup!! There are way too many middle eastern or Mediterranean restaurants that will honor their prices and have delicious food for us to ever go back to Olivit!! I really enjoyed this place. I had the chicken shawarma. The meat wasn't shaved like I've traditionally seen but it was delicious and I was able to get a grilled vegetables side which was great. The homemade Greek dressing is amazing! They seem to do a lot of to go orders. The dining area is small but definitely recommend trying them! read more
