This was my first time trying Mediterranean (besides Chicken Dijon) and for me personally it's wasn't barking at me. It didn't make an eyebrow raise or make my inner core say "ummm!" I was in the mood for a good hearty salad as I had a heavy seafood meal the night before and was planning on big bbq for weekend so I wanted to kinda have a clean fill up in between! So we selected the chicken kebab salad, something with the Lulu and Shawarma chicken, the tzatziki dip with some pita bread and a bottle of Pinot Grigio. To me the kebabs were a bit too charred I'm not sure if that's how they should be or not. I was expecting soft savory meat not a dry different version of bbq meat. The dressing was dryer than expected (that was my best adjective at the moment) it was vinegar overpowering. I had hoped for think more of a fruit maybe flavored balsamic taste. I didn't finish it I just ended up drinking lunch along with the tzatziki dip. I did like the rice that came with my mother's meal too. It was flavorful and made perfectly (unlike my rice!) So for me this was a one and done type a place I'm glad I experienced it, but I won't be back. read more

Placed order online, food was edible but was disappointed with flavor, lula kabob had no flavor, rice had no seasoning,even the cabbage salad was meh, and the hummus was watery. My honest review (i go to a lot of Med places) is: the portions were generous, they accommodated my request to not have mushroom on my veggie skewers (though a few slipped in there anyway) which i appreciated, the actual place looks dark old and messy, and they have horrible hummus. I don't know how its possible for a middle eastern place to make such bad hummus but it was not made with love i can do 200 times better. Also the rice was white rice it didn't have the little noodles like they do in mid east. read more

I ordered the lamb chops, and wow.. they were absolutely delicious! Perfectly seasoned, tender, and full of flavor. The rice and hummus on the side were fresh and tasty, and the whole plate felt like such a comforting, satisfying meal. The cozy, quiet ambiance made it an even better dining experience. An Antelope Valley Facebook Group recommended this spot for good Mediterranean food, and of course I had to check them out! Olives Mediterranean is located near the edge of the BLVD, which tends to get overlook. I usually go more towards the middle of the BLVD where Sassy Bird and various of restaurants are it. Anyhow, the location isn't bad and the parking is easy too! They have a parking lot in the back but you can always park on the streets. The interior of the restaurant was homey yet also classy because of the way the setup of the tables were laid out. It felt like a very intimate restaurant for dates or just special occasions. I didn't dine in, but I did do a take-out which was quick and easy. I got the gyro lamb sandwich that came with 2 sides (salad and rice). It was probably the best gyro lamb sandwich I ever ate, it was so flavorful and the meat was so tender. Definitely need to come back to try their other menu items. read more

They only have one waitress serving the place but that didn't stop them from giving good service to a restaurant with all the tables occupied. The food was delicious and tasty except for the pita bread. The pita bread is awful, pale, tasteless and thin like a tortilla. The atmosphere is family-friendly, cozy and comfortable. I don't have to go to Bakersfield anymore to eat good Mediterranean food. Visited last weekend. Service was good but food was very subpar. I would not eat here again. The lamb kabob was particularly bad. One of the pieces I could not chew and had to throw away and the sauce didn't taste good. The beef kabob was better. The side salad and rice were good. The hummus was so bad I didn't want it to touch any of my food or it would also end up tasting bad. If there's any advice to give here is to completely ditch this version of hummus, change the seasoning for the lamb kabob and pay attention what you're actually cooking and serving. read more

I ordered a 10-person platter from this restaurant on two completely separate occasions, spaced 4-5 months apart. The interior is nice. The service is fine. And I won't deny it -- the food tastes incredible. That said, I will never spend my money here again, and neither will my family. On BOTH occasions, there was long blonde hair inside the food. Not once. Twice. Months apart. That is not an accident; that is negligence. I didn't bother returning the food or making a scene, because there is no "fix" for discovering hair in a meal you've already served to your family. Once that happens, the trust is gone. And frankly, the idea of sending food back only to receive a replacement that may have had other hairs quietly removed is not reassuring -- it's worse. The only logical conclusion is that basic food safety standards are being ignored, specifically the failure to require hairnets for food handlers. This is not a minor issue. This is a deal-breaker. For a Mediterranean restaurant, where food is prepared fresh and handled constantly, wearing hairnets is basic hygiene. Yes -- the food tastes great -- that's what makes this so disappointing. I would be ordering lamb and chicken platters every other week if this restaurant showed even minimal concern for hygiene. Instead, my family refuses to eat here; I can't blame them, and I have not returned to Olive's since. Until this restaurant requires hairnets for all food handlers, I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere. A Mediterranean kitchen should be spotless and professional -- not a place where customers are repeatedly gambling on what they might find in their meals. Be advised, and if you find hair in your meal, LET IT BE KNOWN so that Olive's starts making food handlers wear hairnets. read more

What a find! We were in Lancaster for a business meeting and found Olives Mediterranean Cafe right in the main street. We arrived right when it it opened and were greeted warmly. Delicious and flavorful is the best way I can describe the dishes here. I love hummus and that is what I ordered to start. Plenty of pita bread followed that I enjoyed. I also ordered the Chicken Kabob and a Falafel which were both superb. I left feeling full and satisfied and happy at the thought that when in Lancaster, there is Olives Cafe! We were hosting 15 people so we ordered the shish kabob order for 10 people, and they were able to accommodate the order to include food for 15. The staff I ordered with helped me figure out the best things to order around additional appetizers. They were Ben very accommodating with the pick up time which I had to change a day beforehand. The staff were super friendly when we went to pick up the food. The restaurant looked cute and clean on the inside. Everyone at party raved about the food. The meat was juicy and tender, the salad had a simple but tasty dressing,...even the rice was delicious. We walked into the restaurant it was elegant and well decorated. A waitress greeted us and seated us immediately. Service was fast and professional. I wish I had taken photos because the food looked as good as it tasted. The Basmati rice was super tasty. Usually hummus grosses me out, but this stuff was delicious. I couldn't stop eating it. I had the lambchops. It was only $19!!! They were tender and tasted wonderful. My daughter had the Chicken Shawarma Pita, OMG, it was to die for. My wife had the Chicken Kabob. The Chicken was seasoned perfectly, and it was tender and delish! I didn't care for the salad or the salad dressing, but that didn't take away from the perfect score. This is a great restaurant with very tasty food, friendly staff and it's reasonably priced. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that they don't serve real cream with coffee. Just the powdered stuff which really doesn't taste good. A cup of coffee at a restaurant should always be served with real cream. Otherwise, bon apetit! read more

I love Olives! My mom has been talking about this place for so long and I'm glad I finally got to try it. Apparently, they cater to my mom's job all the time. She always talks about customer service and how great they are; I must agree! It was my first time and not usually a fan of Mediterranean food and the hosts helped me figure out what to order. I got the pork and my mom got the chicken kabob plate. The pieces of meat are so big and the rice is yummy! The portions were tiny, edges burnt, and the filling was dry and completely lacking the flavor I remembered. Why bother serving something so underwhelming when you've clearly done better before?
