We wondered into Olive Brown looking for some nice pieces of sweet after a heavy lunch. The place was pleasantly decorated. The pastries were nothing nothing to write home about. The service left very little to desire. We ordered a small blue berry cheese cake, an apple tart and 5 macarons. The girl at the register asked us to repeat the order a couple of times to make sure she got it right. We were fairly confident of her order taking skill... WRONG!!! We went home, opened the box and saw a muffin instead of the tart. It was very upsetting especially after we had to wait almost 20 minutes for our order.
We found that the workers ( not all, but most) were friendly, and helpful but only to the people whom they recognized. Despite the fact that the store was almost empty, we could not get .the attention of the two girls deep in conversation at the cash register. One was genuinely annoyed when I cut into their convo and asked if they could take my order. The other ladies working at the counter were not any better. One started packing my order, but stopped to talked to everyone she knew. That explained the 20 minute wait for order and the mix up.
I hate to say that this was a poor representation of businesses in Australia as the behavior of the workers in one store cannot reflect those of a larger population. However, it did give me a very negative impression. Asked if I would give the store a second chance, the answer is most likely NOT. read more
