Hospital cafe with a large dining room. Cheaper meals with a discount for hospital staff. They have a little salad bar and various drinks and other food. Sometimes the line gets long at lunch time, but it's worth it. I had a meal and a drink for under $10! What a deal. read more

Unfortunately, my experience here has been consistently disappointing. The food is often not fresh, and the difference in quality is noticeable. For the prices they charge, I expect fresh, well-prepared meals every time, but that hasn't been my experience. The customer service is also inconsistent. There have been multiple occasions where staff members seemed to overlook customers waiting in line, making it feel like you have to wait just to be acknowledged. A simple greeting or acknowledgment would make a big difference. The menu lacks variety, especially for people who are vegan or have dietary restrictions. There are very few plant-based options, making it difficult to find something satisfying. Expanding the menu would make the restaurant more welcoming to a wider range of customers. In addition, I think the food is overpriced for the quality and selection being offered. Paying premium prices for average food, limited choices, and inconsistent service doesn't provide good value. I hope the management takes customer feedback seriously by improving the freshness of the food, offering more menu options, and providing better customer service. read more

It's the cafeteria I mean it's not much to say about that. I wish I had more options though on the grill part because the worker seems to be working so hard but it's not a big option. I would say they're cool but UCLA does have them beat the food was OK. The staff really made the day though. read more

This is one of my favorite fine-eating establishments near my workplace. They have many types of food, such as hot foods, specials, and the new salad bar. The service from most workers is good. The Bev selection is phenomenal here; it is so good that I have seen my own personal physician, Dr. Mallari, here at 7 PM in shorts and a shirt to indulge in a fine bubbly. Basic cafeteria food done pretty well. There's a grill where you can order burgers and fries, pizza, hot meal station (sometimes they have Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes), salad bar and other hot food bar (depends on the day, I saw enchiladas, adobo, nacho bar, etc). For breakfast the grill serves breakfast burritos and sandwiches. They also have bagels, cereal, pastries and a variety of fountain drinks and drinks in the fridge. Prices are pretty cheap. I got two chicken tenders and Curley fries for less than $5. Salad is about $.50 per ounce. Only annoying thing is that the prices for the grill are on a screen that rotated between a few different pictures so it's hard to read all the menu items at once. read more

This is the greatest hospital cafeteria of all time. If it wasn't 20+ miles from my apt, I'd go here regularly. My big piece of advice is to stick to food on the grill. My second piece of advice, is to be sure to double check that the grill is going to be open when you go. It seems to be closed frequently throughout the day. In addition, my orders seem to turn out better when I ask for them in Spanish :D. Breakfast: - You have to try the breakfast burritos. You can get chopped sausage/bacon/chorizo in it with spicy peppers, hash browns, cheese, and delicious sweet salsa. They cook it right in front of you. - Get the burrito again - And again - and again - OK you're tired of them? You can try the delicious blueberry pancakes. Also a very reasonable option. - They also have decent omelettes which come with just about anything. Get it egg-whites only with peppers, bacon, spinach, and cheese. MMMM! Lunch: - They do something different each day of the week. They have a few steady favorites like the burritos, burgers, fries, chicken fingers - the best day is Friday: Fish tacos!!! Yes! - They have a taco/nacho bar open for $7 that seems to be reliable Dinner: - Pretty much the same as lunch, but they also have chicken fingers available. - Steer clear from the salad bar, it's not so great. read more

We all know hospital food tends to be meh. Even during rotations, each of the hospitals I went to had bad to acceptable food. Here they actually have healthier choices and pretty decent food. Surprisingly, the fat pizzas are good, always moist and cheesy. The hamburger is meh The chicken sandwich is good, with a full healthy grilled chicken breast The chicken wrap has potential, but the one time I had it they used a piece of chicken that was sitting for a while so it was tough and dry. MEH The Pozole $3.19 (only Thursdays?) is pretty good, but super salty. The turkey burger is okay **The best thing here are the FISH TACOS, which I always get (only Fridays). Problem is they do run out so buy it before 2-3pm. $2.50 each and very filling Coffee, starbucks, usually very good, make sure you have a Coffee Club card, after 9 coffees/stamps you get one free. Prices are reasonable-slightly pricy for the type of patients we had and students who are broke. They should reconsider the prices. They usually clean the grill around 2pm? and it will last over 15 minutes. If you are short on time, come back, don't stand there and wait. read more

This is someone who has a diagnosable medical illness of intrusive day dreams about breakfast burritos - the ones Alfredo makes me when I work here. 18 people have gone out of their way to post Yelp reviews about this hospital cafeteria - and I will tell you it's all true. They make their salsa fresh daily from scratch, as well as their fish taco toppings and other delicious hot-meal options. The workers are always moving at light speed to serve you, which tbh looks exhausting. I wish you could tip them, it's like performance art watching them fill orders. The coffee is always fresh, and the cafeteria recently started serving iced coffee too, because the people demanded it I presume. The prices are super low for the high quality. The salad bar, as others pointed out, is basic. They have sweet potato AND curly fries, if you are feeling adventurous. The staff, if I can reiterate, are LOVELY. So my friends and I have become regulars here. It's a hit and miss. They do have a large selection of healthy (and not so healthy) options. I'm fond of their tuna melts. My friend often opts for the fish of the day. Breakfast is quick and prices are really reasonable. I was not a fan of the gravy and biscuits. Nor was the grilled cheese sandwich anything worth talking about. They have a large dining room and outlets to charge your phone. Service is quick and cafeteria setting. I heard from my friend that their smothered pork chops and mashed potatoes were delicious. So I decided to try them today. She was right, the pork chop was very tender and juicy. I was even able to cut/slice the meat using my plastic fork it was that tender. The mushroom gravy was sinful and very tasty at the same time. Why review a cafeteria? Well, hospital cafeterias can bring up horrible memories of gross childhood elementary school cafeterias where the powdered diluted mashed potatoes are plopped onto dirty dishes. This is definitely NOT the case with the OV cafeteria. It has undergone both cosmetic and substantive improvement since I started dining here 3 years ago. Back then, things were a little more run down, the foods a little older, staler, greasier. However, they really have made an attempt to brighten things up, work on presentation of the food, and make things healthier. The salads can still be expensive, but some of the main entrees are much more affordable and are actually well-made! Soups can be amazing. And best of all, the breakfast burritos are killer. Seriously. Ask for "Breakfast burrito with sausage links, mushroom, onions, and hash browns," and you will get what I have gotten there over the years. A burrito by any other name, made by any other man is definitely not Luis' burrito. If I could write sonnets, I'd compose at least one dedicated to the perfectly crisped shell of the said burrito, the beautiful harmony of the eggs interplaying with the bacon, the soft surprise of the hash browns, and the spicy burst of the salsa -when you request to have it put inside the burrito (little known trade secret). All this to say that Olive View employs some spectacular chefs who put out some outstanding food. Like near Michelin star, minus the fancy sauce work. PS. If you are vegetarian or vegan, there's nothing here for you. I work here and most of the time I'm left without any options beyond dry-packaged oatmeal when I reluctantly go there out of desperation. The only non-meat options are usually a black bean or beyond meat burger, but many times when I ask for them, they don't have it or haven't prepared them on the grill before it is closed. I've brought this up several times to the very very nice staff, and some things seemed to improve like adding beyond burgers or even non-dairy milk l, but it's meaningless when those things are rarely stocked or available. I would hope a hospital cafeteria would be more mindful of having options to meet diverse dietary needs, but that's not the case here. The management needs to address this issue. read more

Super small hospital hospital cafeteria but the grill makes up for this. Alfredo will hook you up and you can pretty much make anything you want ( breakfast burritos, chicken quesadillas, and burgers). On Fridays they have fish tacos. I recommend going after 12:45 pm in order to beat the lunch rush. read more

Don't let the fact that this grill is located in a hospital cafeteria deter you from giving it a try. Excellent (and very filling) made-to-order breakfast burritos, Starbucks coffee, water and OJ for two people, nice/peaceful patio dining with trees and a water fountain, all for $18 with tax. I have worked and eaten at many hospitals around the country and the cafeteria here at Olive View is far and away the best. It regularly serves authentic delicious Mexican food that contends with some of LA's best taquerias. The lunch entrees are reliably excellent. My favorite is the chile relleno. The "Latin bowl" though is the best. Delicious chicken and meats, amazing salsas, and perfect beans and rice. I feel so lucky to have regular access to such healthy and delicious food that always tastes fresh and homemade - in a hospital! read more

Synopsis: surprisingly delicious food at a county hospital I've been eating here just about daily for the past three months...which makes sense because I work here. It's a decent establishment and makes my tummy happy... It's on the first floor of the hospital, and is variously called the olive view-UCLA medical center cafeteria, the Morrison cafe (after the foodservice company that runs it), the olive view cafe, and the olive branch cafe. DON'T MISS: - cilantro-lime dressing. I can't figure out which days the chef decides to make this, but look for the green goo at the salad bar. Delicious with fries, sandwiches, chicken tenders... - flatbreads. Their pizzas proper are forgettable, but there's a different flatbread daily--mushroom, chicken/tomato/Parmesan, good ol' pepperoni...these are thin, slightly crispy, and have relatively few calories... - parfaits. Somehow everything served in a cup with a dome lid on top is labeled a parfait. I ain't complaining...choose from pita-hummus parfait, brownie bite parfait, cheese/crackers/grapes parfait, jello parfait...and yes, yogurt parfaits too... - random hot food items. These includes dishes like carrot souffle with walnut and pureed turnips. Yum! - breakfast burrito. Your choice of fillings may include scrambled eggs/whites, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, ham/bacon/hot link/turkey sausage, refried beans, cheese...always served with salsa on the side! - chilaquiles ain't bad NOT SO HOT: - salad bar by weight. Prices are way too HIGH. No employee discounts. Not much variety of food choices. They will only make your food the way they prepare it for all. They wont allow any substitutes for anything. They give you VERY small portion of food at a very high price. The pizzas are always overcooked and burnt. There are only maybe two cooks that prepare food like they actually care. Everyone else just puts it together any kind of way like they dont care. Only eat here if you are starving and have nothing else to eat.
