This is an update to a recent 2 star review. The first impression of the place was pretty bad. However. This is one of the few places to eat that happen to be close to my workplace so I decided to give it another shot. This time was noticeably better. I suppose a) not asking "dumb" questions about the menu and b) now being seen as a regular improved the service I got. This time around, I received some complimentary chips and salsa. Food is as solid as I remember it. Prices are still reasonable. So far, I have had the enchiladas, as well as the taco combo. This is one of the few mama pop restaurants that actually fries your tacos for you. It's a pretty big plus in my book. Place was pretty hot on my second visit, the first time, the air conditioner was going strong. Either it's broken or they are cutting down on electric bills. They still don't give complimentary water. And though I did get complimentary chips and salsa. They basically give you a little shot glass of the stuff. You get enough for 3 or 4 chips. Still. I'd say I'd come back again. So, I just could not hold with the 2 star review. read more

So it pains me to have to write this review. I love breakfast burritos. I'm always in search of the next great Mexican breakfast burrito. All of my experiences in and around the Los Angeles area have been wonderful. Full of flavor and the variations each restaurant puts in their burrito makes it wonderful for my taste buds. Alas. I have found a breakfast burrito place which has not met these standards. I happened to be in the Sylmar area and since I crave authentic Mexican food I tried this little hole-in-the-wall place. From the get-go I had a sour taste in my mouth because the machaca(shredded beef) burrito that I ordered which came with rice, beans, potatoes and eggs did not have pico de gallo in it. The lady told me that pico de gallo would be extra! I was flummoxed! Every place I've been to always includes pico de gallo free of charge. Her rationale was that since they had to make it fresh, they had to charge me. This is unacceptable. I went to the salsa bar and loaded up on their salsa. It is important that every bite of my breakfast burrito has a good amount of either pico de gallo or salsa on it for extra flavor. There was a basket of chips that came with my burrito and right away I took a chip and dipped it into their salsa from the salsa bar. I immediately developed that bitter beer face when tasting it! ( you know, that kind from the commercials from way back) It almost tasted like it was spoiled or bad. When the girl came up to where I was sitting and asked me how everything was I asked about the salsa. She said that they use canned tomatoes to make their salsa and it tended to be sour. What!? As a result I had to go with the very spicy salsa which at least tasted normal. Sweating with every bite, This burrito did not have a lot of flavor. I had to drench it in the very spicy salsa to give it any kind of flavor at all. I don't know why, but I think I have internalized the whole situation this morning way too much. I was really bummed sitting there eating it when I should have been excited and satisfied. There are so many choices for great Mexican food in our city. If you're driving through Sylmar, do yourself a favor and drive right on by this place and find somewhere else. read more

Found this place upon suggestion by a worker at the Wildlife Learning Center. It's very good! It's sort of a hole in the wall but clean tables and eating area. My favorite thing is that they have jaiva ceviche! It's so hard to find the right flavor ceviche and was perfect. My husband had the carne asada burrito and loved it! read more

This place is only good for their hard shell tacos for $1.00 on Fridays. Their carne asana is disgusting it is very stiff and tastes old has no flavor. Their sopes are very thick with tons of masa would never get one again. Their ceviche has more onion and tomatoe then shrimp and fish. Three stars only because nice lady. I liked her. Twice we ordered chicken and it's always soupy ruins food. Plus they add carrots lots of them I made mistake by ordering chicken tostada. It was like chicken soup mixed with cold big chunks of iceburg lettuce. Wish they would have put more time to make it like a tostada. Chop or slice the lettuce add a tomato slice or top with olive. It was bad. Tons of Italian dressing wish bone. I questioned myself if I ordered a salad but the hot stewy chicken proved me wrong. My son got the chicken burrito he cut it in half the juice poured out nothing left inside to eat but a thin layer of beans and some rice and long slices of carrots. Very odd. We went a few years ago but son thought the bad place was other one next door but it was closed.
