We had two chicken platters. One with hummus, yogurt sauce and grape leaves. The other over rice with yogurt sauce and tabouli. To be quite honest I was expecting much more from the yelp rating. The chicken was dry and tasted like it had sat under a warmer the majority of the day. The yogurt sauce was tasty but was given too much of it, I was stuck sitting there wondering what I was supposed to eat the rest of it with. The tabouli was mediocre, not as tasteful as I have had but still refreshing. The rice was nothing special, would benefit from some help from spices. The grape leaves were nice, a tad small from what I'm used too. The hummus was the best part of the meal, too bad the pita bread wasn't homemade. The man behind the register was nice and friendly. The price of the meal is fair for the portion size. Unfortunately I don't think I would return. read more

Always very good!! Sometimes hit or miss on the lamb/chicken, but that being said I still eat here 1-2x per week.

Amazing, authentic Mediterranean food. I re-up on a big tub of their hummus once every week or two, it's that good. The falafel platter is awesome! read more

Wraps were great, loved the use of pickles which made it seem authentic. Tahini was on point. Falafel balls were bigger than most places you go locally, and seemed pure ingredients wise. Great quality, would definitely go back read more

Delicious healthy authentic! And everything is made fresh. Consistent. Family owned Mediterranean restaurant grabbing go available and tiny eatery. read more

This place is so good! It's been around for awhile and gone through some updates but the food never suffered. Mujaddara, Falafel, Chicken...all so good. If you like hummus their spicy hummus is killer. It's so smooth and flavorful. Definitely more of a take out place but well worth the trip. read more

I really enjoy the falafel pita, chicken shawarma wrap and the chicken gyro. All are great options for about $8. There are also several platters to choose from for a few dollars more which are heartier and include side dishes. I work right down the street, so its a quick and easy option for lunch. A recent remodel now makes this a nice spot to eat-in. If in a rush, you can also call in a to go order a few minutes ahead of time and it'll be ready when you arrive, however service is always very prompt! read more

Wonderful service and great middle eastern food. The lamb and falafel with home made hummus are the best.

Talk about the best middle eastern restaurant in CT! I have been going here for years and have never once been disappointed! I don't know how I haven't written a review yet... best falafel in all of CT ( and I have been to dozens of other middle eastern restaurants in CT). Falafel is always moist and flavorful, lamb is also a fave. Babaganoush, hummus and grape leaves are always a favorite too. The owners and people who work there are gems. So glad this place exists! read more

Love their food selection which is always prepared to perfection. Scrumptious desserts and cordial staff! I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant read more

Staff were not wearing masks when I went to the restaurant and didn't even put them on when I came into the restaurant. Love the food here, and we want to support local businesses during the pandemic. But, waiting 2 weeks to make sure I'm not sick--no falafel is worth that stress. When I walked in, both staff members were at the back of the restaurant, and I was on the only customer. I was looking at the shelves and coolers of prepared foods while I waited for my (previously called in) order, and I wasn't paying close attention to the staff members' appearance. Only when I was at the counter and he was running my credit card did I notice he didn't have a mask on. Didn't attempt to put one on, nothing. Just acted as if there's no global pandemic. Don't feel safe coming back--and if they're so lax with safety during a global pandemic, I'm hesitant about their safety record during normal circumstances... Sadly, they've lost our business. read more

Ordered a chicken gyro to go. While I waited, was given a free falafel and hummus, both which were incredible and got me very excited for my meal to come. Very nice man behind the counter, not sure if he was the owner but made me feel so welcome. Chicken gyro was bursting at the seams. So messy but so worth it. Delicious! Took home some baklava as well. Highly recommend all around read more

AMAZING!!! My fiancé is part Lebanese so I'm very familiar with Middle Eastern food and we have been coming here for many years. The food is so fresh, authentic, and delicious. My ultimate favorite is the falafel wrap. The first time I had it, I became addicted! It's literally heaven in a wrap. They make the most perfect falafel. Not too hard, not too soft. It's perfection. Everything is delicious! You will not be disappointed. read more

The best falafel around Connecticut for sure. The owner is such a delight and they're more than accommodating. Try the gyros (according to my meat eating friends) or the falafel for a delish vegan treat! read more

Friendly staff and great prices. We had the mujaddara with kofte kebab and falafel wrap. I thought the falafel was great (wished I had seen the spicy option) along with the kofte kebab. The actual mujaddara was ok. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't probably order it again. It also came with a salad (tart lemony dressing) and yogurt that were enjoyable. They had lots of other choices I would be interested in trying next tune. It's a very unassuming place in a strip mall, and you can even stop by the Carvel next door for dessert afterwards. read more

Having lost my shawarma source recently, I had to venture further afield to find a replacement, and I'm happy to report that Olive Tree's shawarma wrap did the trick. A bit messy, but there are worse things to deal with - I'll definitely be back. read more

Love this place great food. I eat here almost bi weekly. Food is fresh and consistently great.

Great food. Great people. I love coming here. You can take your food over to the hookah lounge next door as well which is pretty cool. The chicken shawarma wrap is my favorite here but really everything they make is awesome so try it all. read more

I really enjoyed the chicken shawarma. The portion was fair and they have all the ethnic drinks like Aryan and the red sparkling soda. The restaurant is full of decorative knick knacks, which helped distinguish it from other middle eastern restaurants I've been to. read more

My friend and I decided to give this place a try since they had vegan options for her and the Yelp reviews were positive. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't that positive. While waiting in line to order, we witnessed a staff member go from taking and order to touching food with a bare hand, no gloves and no hand wash in between. When it came time for my friend to order, they were out of what she wanted which was falafel. When it was my turn to order, they were out of what I wanted which was lamb. We settled on other items and were not that impressed. I'm not sure if it was due to arriving later in the night but in addition to being out of food items, my chicken was dry and I found a piece of hair underneath it. While two falafels were brought to the table at the end of our meal, we were disappointed based on all the positive reviews we had read. Maybe next time we will arrive earlier to hopefully have a better experience. read more

Amazing for takeout! Their food is delicious, reasonably priced, and served up quickly!

Good food! I tried it once when at a party that ordered from this place. Now I pick up when I'm in the area. I've had mostly their vegetarian dishes. Hummus, Baba ganoush, tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves. Nice workers too. I ordered a bunch of stuff for pick up and when I got there the guy had also made me falafels so I could try them with the other things I ordered. read more

I've been eating here for over two years. Delicious, freshly prepared food. My go to meal is a platter of hummus, falafel, baba ganoush and grapes leaves--never disappoints. read more

Delicious local business with friendly and familiar owners who have a loyal steady amount of customers. They have crispy delicious falafel with hummus, and their shawerma wraps are usually the go to for me. Everything that contains meat is cooked separately from vegetarian food and it's a very small hole in the wall place to go during lunch or after work. The best place to give your business is a local eatery that always works to maintain quality and connects with customers. read more

The place is currently under new management. Food is still good. (Though one of the guy's i work with swears that something different about the Gyro that he doesn't like) The atmosphere just isn't as nice. It from friendly "Hello my friend!" to current guys who seem like your inconveniencing them by buying something. What can you do? read more

Being a fan of Mamouns I decided to try this place out due to reviews and the suggestion of my significant other. Walked in and at first kinda thought it was a joke. Looks like a deli with a couple fold up chairs and tables throw about it n the kitchen, but i thought hey maybe they are so focused on their food & are more of a take out place they arent that interested in doing it up inside. Plus everything doesnt have about 4 layers of grease/dust on it like Mamouns SOOOO thats a plus! I ordered the hummus platter with chicken which came with two pitas, some sorta salad and another sorta salad thing (yeah im not that fluent with this type of food, but it was good!) and the boy had falafels. (Which I tried and they were awesssommmeeee) SO INCREDIBLY GOOD! it just tasted fresh and the chicken was actually moist and had a crap load of flavor. Yes a CRAP load, I said it. ANOTHER plus is you DONT HAVE to spend 20$ to use your credit card which being someone that doesnt carry around cash is a super plus. This food is cheap and its a rarity we come to about 20$ for the two of us and often at Mamouns we would find ourselves buying things JUST to come up to 20 bucks. NOT AT OLIVE TREE! So bravo Olive Tree, BRAVO. read more

Truly great spot. Cheap, healthy (most of it), and fresh. It definitely feels like a takeout spot with a few plastic tables in an unassuming space. The service is friendly, and recently when I was waiting for an especially large order for a company event - the owner offered me some free felafel while I was waiting. Very thoughtful. I especially love the hummus and usually take some home. read more

What a disappointment. I have been coming to the Olive Tree sporadically over the years and it's been going downhill more and more since the day it opened. It's so unfortunate because the next nearest place with filafel is in New Haven. We ordered take out for 4 of us 45 minutes in advance of picking it up. Even after all that time, they were still cooking our food, yet somehow it was cold in the short drive home. We also realized they forgot one of our meals completely and didn't include nan with our meal when it specifically noted that it did. They also went WAY up on their prices - a used to be $6 dish is now $9.50. More than a 50% increase. Not OK. Overall, it was a major disappointment and after this fiasco I won't be back. Worst of all, the filafel is now cooked in these strange saucer-esque shaped forms and they cook unevenly and the texture was all wrong. They used to form them into small balls, but now it's all changed. Not sure what's going on here, but I'm not sticking around to find out. read more

Falafel. I used to not like falafel very much until I came here. I came here with a co-worker who happens to be a regular. I order my usual lamb shawarma and it was good. But then.... They gave me a sample of their falafel in a little bowl with hummus. My life changed I am now a believer of falafel. I can probably go vegetarian now and live on falafel and hummus alone. It's all crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Flavor bombs. And the tahini sauce?! ugh. Thank you for making me a believer that falafel can be flavorful, complex, and crunchy (I love all things crunchy). Keep doing what you're doing read more

I came here based on a recommendation from Mike at the Black Diamond Ink Tattoo in the same plaza. I ordered falafel, the hummus platter with kebbe, and a chicken shawerma. Hands down, the best falafel in Southern CT. When you order your falafel, they are *freshly* put into balls and fried in a cast iron pan. I recommend getting the falafel and a side of hummus to dip it in with their red chili sauce. The kebbe was excellent as well. Like someone else said, the owners and cooks here are all very humble and friendly. read more

My favorite lunch spot! I'm here usually once or twice a week, getting my chicken shawarma wrap! It's my go to and is always made just right. I bring my coworkers here all the time and they love all different dishes from the falal wrap to shawarmas. read more

Ok, so it's a hole in the wall... but the food is absolutely amazing. Chicken Shawerma is my absolute favorite... but the Falafel and kefta are amazing too. I introduced my picky boyfriend to Middle Eastern food here... knowing that if he didn't end up liking Olive Tree, there was no hope in him liking Middle Eastern food all together. He loved it, and actually gets craving's for it. The only downside to this little place, is that they don't deliver. I honestly think that I'd eat here 3x a week if they did. read more

This place gets overshadowed by it's New Haven competition, but it's falafels are just as good (if not better). There is a spicy falafel wrap on the menu that is incredible, and worth every second of my 30 minute drive to get it. The baklava is a little dry and not worth the price, but it's not a big deal. The place is meant to be a take-out location and consequently has a little of that NYC bodega charm to it, complete with dusty shelves and foreign groceries unevenly stacked near the make-shift seating. The staff is very polite and accommodating, even offering samples to waiting patrons on occasion. Excellent restaurant that should be sampled by anyone who enjoys a good falafel or middle easter cuisine. read more

Visiting Milford for work and wanted to try a local joint for a quick takeout lunch. Shawarma is a favorite, and a middle eastern bakery near our home is one of our go-to lunch spots. I don't mind a hole in the wall or a dive, and with several good reviews I thought, why not? My impression: Blah Chicken Shawarma wrap was ok. Chicken was nicely flavored, but I bit into a big glob of mayo on my first bite. No wonderful garlicky sauce. No spice. Just mayo. The sandwich was mostly lettuce and tomato with some chicken and a few pickle slices. Where are the pickled turnips? Where is the garlic sauce the liberally ladle over the meat? Where are the middle eastern herbs? Where is the spicy sauce? Honestly, it tasted like something I could have gotten at Burger King. Not awful, but certainly not what I was expecting from a 4+ star rated restaurant. Baklava: Looked delicious in the case. Nicely baked and not too oily or soft. However, it lacked flavor and wasn't terribly sweet. The hummus was awful. An indescribable flavor made me wonder if it had been sitting in the case and gone bad. The accompanying pita was stale. The service was friendly and quick. The bottled uludag orange soda available in the cooler was a treat, and probably the best part of my entire meal! I'm heading home tomorrow, and I will not have midnight cravings for Olive Tree. For those of you who love this kind of food, if you're ever in the north Atlanta burbs give Jerusalem Bakery a shot.
