Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.

My favorite was the one with olives in it because I love olives. It also comes with some of their iconic olive oils as well as balsamic. *Bucatini with Summer Squash: Also a big portion! The pasta was well cooked, and the pine nuts added excellent flavor. The summer squash was delicious and fresh. *Olive Oil Gelato: Two scoops per order, and I got vanilla with two different olive oil fruit drizzles. It works really well! The oil complements the ice cream, and the ice cream itself is delicious. It has a little more depth of flavor, and I think there's oil incorporated into it as well. I also did the olive oil tasting, which was a great experience as well. It was nice to learn about the process these olives go through, as well as how to assess the taste and quality of olive oil. There's a little shop near the entrance that has all the olive oils they make with descriptions on what they pair well with, balsamic vinegar, and other goodies. My parents loved the ice cream, and ordered another order to-go just before the bistro closed! Overall, the service is excellent and kind, the food is delicious, and the olive oil is plentiful. I think it's worth stopping by if visiting the area, and it's a nice, intimate lunch spot for locals!
