When I moved to El Dorado Hills 5 years ago... thank goodness there was a big and beautiful Nugget a mile and half away. My point is all Nugget markets are quite incredible. Nothing compares to them. Excellent quality, in-house prepared food, bakery... TDF, floral, meat department, liquor, and fabulous fresh produce section. Fork Lift is to me like the Nugget markets on steroids! I was astonished at the size of the store and cool inside architectural design. Yes it is hip! Super clean, well stocked in everything. Organized. Quite impressive. And the same great departments as I mentioned above that are available in the Nugget stores are right here too! The chatter is that the Fork Lift offers many discounted prices but honestly, I never see them. Then I heard the lower priced items are strategically placed in and around the store. Who knows. They always have chocolate samples and she even offered me a sample of the 3 wine slushie flavors they had. I tried the lavendar chocolate and the pink barbie rosé slushie, blue hawaian chardonnay slushie, and chocolate (I think red blend based) mint slushie. All were so nice and refreshing on a warm almost summer day. Melissa also showed us all the different flights and pairings they do and how she came to work there and her experience there. I loved her back story and her passion for the business. As of 11/19/25, which is early season, you can buy a 4 lb bag for $10. While I was there, one farmer was sorting the oranges out by size. Apparently, the medium ones are the most popular. You could buy small ones for $1.50 per pound. Mandarins were attractive and juicy. Update: It's the sweetest and easiest to peel of the three different bags I bought on 11/19/25. Blue Goose Produce is associated with Westview Growers. If I remember correctly, there are 1500 mandarin orange trees in their orchards, so you can buy mandarins there until April! Farmers are friendly and informative to chat with. In October 2025, I believe I spoke with the owner Mark about the Blue Goose decor. One antiquities specialist soon found him a large metallic goose after he requested it. He painted it dark blue himself. This goose gets outfit changes to match the holiday! His family has been collecting blue goose decor over many years, which you can find throughout the store. I learned that a female goose can just be called a goose. A male goose is a gander, and Gander Taphouse is in the same plaza. Yesterday I learned that mandarin oranges taste better a day or longer after they have been picked. It takes time for them to sweeten. You can find a variety of local farm goods here, such as honey, scented candles, Earth & Vine products, local Newcastle Mandarin Ranch products, and Petaluma Creamery cheeses. You can buy pies here. Today's trip really stood out to me because of a couple things... while I was at the deli waiting for the clerk to work on my order, at least three other employees came up to me and asked if I was being helped. I've been to other stores where I've stood at a counter for literally 5 minutes, watching employees going out of their way to not acknowledge me. That never happens here. The fact that whoever stocked these mushrooms took the time to turn every mushroom cap side up and arranged all the portobellos the way they are speaks to a dedication to quality work. Plus you can't beat that view of the Mercedes dealership. The salad selection is some of the best I've seen anywhere, although they are very pricey at about $10/8oz (which is why I haven't actually tried one). I came here in search of some tampons that I couldn't find at Target, and was thrilled that this store carried small boxes of single sizes, versus the huge multipacks they had at Target. Thank you Nugget for doing a better job at procuring feminine health items than Target. As a bonus this store (like many others) is within walking distance of the wetland preserve.
