I participated in the Bare Burro 5K race this weekend, and I had a blast. The hilly terrain kicked my ass (hence the "burro" reference), but I was dutifully forewarned. I came in 22 out of more than 300 runners. It was my first nude run, and it was refreshing to feel just how freeing it was to run unencumbered by any textiles. The runners came in all ages, shapes, and sizes, but we shared a fun experience together. Everyone is welcoming. read more

Owners refuse to maintain the pool, hot tub, sauna, and all of the grounds at ODR. There are zero amenities and management has removed electric meters from residents. Hot water has been cut off for the showers in the common area. So if you camp here in a tent or rent a birdhouse, you will have a cold shower, in February. Sorry business owner Steve G. I have been visiting OD on & off for the last decade. This place is run down! I wonder what happened! The front gate is out of service, the hot sauna is completely dismantled, the jacuzzi looks scary, pool needs immediate attention, the grass area is dead & not to mention a ton of other upsets. The cafe is no longer open. It's a ghost town! It's disheartening to see what it has become. The pictures on their website are completely misleading! The park does not look like any of those pictures. What you see is quite the opposite. The gate fees do not warrant what the park has to offer. The park has so much potential! Hopefully they can figure out how to give it the life it once had. read more

I was so excited to come and spend some time here , but now reading the reviews as there are new owners makes me sad. Everything that it once was is now not there. I will not be staying there sadly. And the new owners that are replying back, are not acknowledging the people that use to love this place so much and are so disappointed in the changes. I used to go to the bare burro race every year with my friends, it being on my birthday weekend. Literally some of the best times I've ever had. Friendly people and a great fun environment. Apparently it's under new management and no longer clothing optional and from what I've read it no longer has a working or clean pool sauna or outdoor shower. It no longer has a playground and the grounds, including trails are unkempt. This is such a special place to so many people. What a sad and dissapointing thing to see it go so downhill. The place I used to love has been ruined. I spent 15 years visiting ODR, met the best friends anyone could ever ask for, and it was one of the few places I felt I could truly be myself. The new owners have completely ruined it by making it textile. I feel bad for all of my friends that lived there and have to put up with all of the terrible changes that were made. New management at Olive Dell has been harassing members and residents. The place is no longer the welcoming, relaxing, family nudist resort it once was. They also have a quota for single men. The Olive Dell website is no longer up to date. The rates you will be charged are significantly more than reported on their website as of 6/15/2024. It's a sad statement about how family naturism has lost its homes here in southern California. Glen Eden is really your only choice, other than Blacks Beach. read more

This was our first time at a nudist resort and this was the best place for beginners like us. The people that live here are like a huge family, they were all super welcoming and funny. Being naked is their thing so the embarrassment of walking around in your birthday suit wears off super quick. You can be as naked or not naked as you feel comfortable with. They have : a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, small restaurant, game room with a bar, tennis court, play area for the kids and awesome hiking trails. Bring your own games and equipment! It's a good way to meet new people! Unless there is an event going on it's a little bit of a slow place feel to it. Would 100% recommend! We are planning to go back for some of the events read more

Olive Dell Ranch is my home. I've been a resident almost 5 years now and I don't want to live anywhere else. I love my home, I love my neighbors, and I love the freedom I have living here. We are currently going through a lot of changes, such as a change in management, operations, and other things like trying to upgrade many of the amenities available. Right now, there is discomfort with the changes and not all are in agreement everything takes time. But this is a natural process that occurs and in the meantime I'm excited about the events we still have going on and that so many of us are determined to keep this place going as the awesome and happy place we know it to be. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. The dinosaurs (AKA elderly man and woman) that run the front office are the rudest most out of touch people I've met in my life. I came here for an event with NITOC and although I didn't have my membership card on me I did have a photograph of it on my phone, and I've also visited several times before, and they had my paperwork on file. I was treated like a criminal. I was accused of forging my documents and trying to sneak into the property. They vilified me and made me feel cheap and classless. I had explained to the woman that I had been there for a Super Bowl party earlier in the year and she claimed "There was no such thing!" She is clearly battling dementia and so is the man that helps her run this godforsaken place. The facilities are cheap and run down and not worth the price of admission. The property is in desperate need of a facelift and the management needs to go. What an absolute joke. Spend your time and money elsewhere because this place is madness. I'll never be back. Wouldn't go back if they paid me. And to the owners, you are despicable. read more

Every time I've been here it's been a great experience! The first time is always the hardest because it's a big step to go full nude. But once you build the courage it's invigorating and liberating. I've gone for different events, and must say they throw fabulous parties. There is a small bar/lounge area with friendly staff and an area for dancing even! It's better when an event is going on because you meet more of a variety of people. If you go on a non-event day you will mostly meet the locals, who tend to be retired older men and women. But on holidays a younger crowd is there and can be more mentally stimulating to engage with someone more my age. Overall I love this place, if you're reading this trying to make a decision I say go for it! Just be polite and courteous and always respectful. Oh and beware of how much chlorine Bobby(property owner) puts in the jacuzzi it will definitely damage and hurt your skin if there's prolong exposure! Waaaay too much chlorine..... read more

I enjoy being naked outdoors and I used to frequent the clothing optional / nudist beach at San Onofre State Beach. Since the recent crackdown by the rangers, I have been reluctant to go to this beach. Last week, I decided to try Olive Dell Ranch as an alternative. Olive Dell was recommended highly by my good friends at Nitoc (Naturists in the OC - http://www.nitoc.org/) so I decided to give it a try. I had a terrific time - the weather was great. The pool was refreshing. The food at the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. There were 2 nature trails that I was able to hike. I met the owner at one point during the day and he was very personable and really goes out of his way to provide extra service for the members. I would definately recommend Olive Dell to anyone who enjoys a clothing optional venue with a friendly, relaxed environment. I will definately be back. read more

I was just here for the first time. I also brought my boyfriend, who'd never been to a nudist anything . We had an absolutely lovely time. The people we encountered we warm and very friendly. We stayed in one of their "birdhouse" cabins. Very basic, a little on the rustic side, but very functional and ridiculously cheap! And the food in the cafe, surprisingly delicious. Just your basic fare, burgers, sandwiches, etcetera, but everything very well prepared and tasty. We are definitely looking forward to returning. read more

I'm not a nudist. I never even thought about ever going to a nudist resort until I met my friend Tim. Nudist Tim invited me to a costume party at the Olive Dell Nudist Ranch and I accepted. As a textile, I had all sorts of fears about my first experience at a nudist resort. I'm a Little Person and was also worried someone would take a photo of my naked little body would part of an assortment of memes on the Internet. I was a bit of a nervous wreck, but thought I might as well have this experience while I had the opportunity. Everyone here is amazing. The people are friendly and very respectful. *** There are signs that RESTRICT UNWANTED photography. *** It was a beautiful experience. After a few introductory moments of self-inflicted awkwardness, I realized everyone was there for the same reason: to have fun. Nice hot tub, gorgeous pool and great cafe that serves the yummiest breakfast! People are very accepting and don't judge you for being a textile. One of my favorite places. Very secure, family oriented place with very outgoing and friendly people. It's in a wonderful canyon setting, almost a commune with nature. The pool is amazing, the food in the restaurant Is very good and the staff are always beaming. Becky, the lady who runs the place, wears just a hat and a smile and really shows how much she cares for her little community. There are trails you can hike, and little cabins you can rent. It's the most youthful of the local resorts, and popular with true family naturists. They are cautious about single guys so if you're true to heart with nudism, bring a female relative, friend, or significant other. read more

My husband and I stayed overnight here once in one of their quaint cabins. We spent the day hiking their lovely trails where we saw lizards and donkeys. We enjoyed eating in their on-site cafe. I recommend their chili and hot chocolate with whipped cream. They also have a good club sandwich. The atmosphere is friendly and the regulars and residents are friendly. The owner made sure we were enjoying our stay. The restrooms are kept very clean as well as the pool, sauna and spa. Parking is tricky but otherwise it is a great resort. Also bring cash or check because as of our visit in April of 2012, they still did not accept credit cards. read more

I'm from Santa Monica and visited for the first time in April 2015 for the Bare Burro Run and although my boyfriend and I didn't do the run, we plan to run next year. The hiking through the hillside was beautiful and felt amazing to hike naked. The folks were much more gay friendly than I imagined which helped us both feel comfortable. We met several new friends and also ran into other guys we know from Los Angeles. We didn't want to leave and stayed late into the night. It was a great time! read more

My wife and I went to Olive Dell Ranch in June 2008 for a Getaway. Never being there before, we was nervous. But found very quickly how friendly everyone was especially Ron and his wife. We was treated like part of the group, not visitors like some clubs. Bobby & Becki the owners was very friendly and made us feel welcome to the Ranch. We rented a camping cottage called birdhouses great price, very cute and CLEAN. We had a wonderful time, freedom and relaxation was what we needed. I don't know why the former reviewer had such bad time, but we found it very nice. I will be back to Olive Dell Ranch. I think if you want to visit a club that is relaxed, fun and absolutely family-friendly,you can't go wrong with Olive Dell. read more

Great place to visit, my wife & I visited the ranch and really enjoyed it. The pool and hot tub are spotless, the food was great and very reasonably priced. We stayed in one of the cabins that were cheerfully painted and loved it. Everything was so clean and well cared for. Bobby & Becki (the owners) are great host and make sure our stay was the best of any nudist resort we have ever been to. My wife and I came out for their Memorial day weekend and had a great time. There were all kinds of Pirate theme activities going on. There was a Pirate "Show" and activities for the kids. The food in the Dinner was very good and the menu had a wide variety of choices. There was also a big Banquet and Dance one of the evenings. All in all the people were fun and friendly, the club was nice and well kept and we would recommend it to new "First timers" whole heartedly. read more

I had never been to a nudist resort & had recently put it on my bucket list. Little did I know my opportunity was right around the corner and today I ran the Bare Burro 5k. This course was so grueling that 2 miles in I had to quit & I usually breeze through a 5k. Besides that the staff was great, the people were great. I feel uncomfortable for 10min and then the clothes came off. This was liberating. I felt free. If anyone ever even thought about it I would recommend trying it once in your life. Single males NOT WELCOME. First club I have visited that did not welcome single males. I was pre-judged, and I did not like it. In spite of poor weather and ZERO visitors, I was turned away at the door. Poor customer service by person that I met with at the club when I attempted to become a customer. this is a friendly kick back place that is very budget friendly. its not a bad drive from my house and ive enjoyed coming here for years .The statement that single men are not allowed is not true. there were plenty of them there July 4th. no problem. ive never heard of Bobby n Becky the owners discriminating in any way. there are all types here. its not a fancy la de da place like another resort nearby, or an overpriced "lifestyle" resort also nearby. as an aanr member where can you go and have a day and a nights stay (16.00) little cabin (30.00) and a bbq dinner (10.99) and go home feeling refreshed..yeah ive been to fancier places but this is still my fav.. no pretenses, mellow.. for me the only improvement is id love to see some more ramps for the mobility impaired instead of steps, n stuff like that ..you don't have to be old to have trouble getting around or getting into a jacuzzi read more

My husband and I went to olive Dell to camp and relax by the pool. We ended up leaving after an hour because the tent camping area was a driveway with a patch of dirt. There wasn't a firepit or event a table and barely room to put up a tent. Writing this review so others don't waste money ($50 we spent) thinking they have campsites for tent as they advertise. read more
