We needed a little getaway so we decided to stay here. It Mission Inn Hotel & Spa is a beautiful…read moreplace filled with charm, character, and rich history. We stayed in the Junior Suite, and it was spacious, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after exploring the area. Right across the street is an antique and merchandise marketplace that's definitely worth visiting if you enjoy unique finds and vintage pieces. The hotel also has several restaurants onsite, which makes dining very convenient, though there are plenty of nearby restaurants within walking distance if you're looking for more affordable options. The pool area was nice, although a bit small considering how many guests the hotel accommodates. Still, the overall atmosphere and vibe of the property made up for it. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. One of the most fascinating parts of this hotel is the history surrounding it. I didn't personally get to see them, but there are said to be nearly 20 miles of catacombs beneath the hotel. Riverside itself has a deep and interesting past, and if you enjoy haunted history and spooky storytelling, this place adds another layer of intrigue. Many people say the hotel is haunted, so it's worth researching before your visit if that interests you. Also nearby is Mount Rubidoux, which is absolutely worth visiting for the views and history. If you enjoy local legends and historical stories, look into the history of the priest connected to the cross placed at the top of the mountain in remembrance. It adds even more character to the area. Overall, this is a beautiful historic destination with plenty to see, explore, and experience around Riverside.

She worked the early evening shift, young heavy set Hispanic girl, who had the nastiest attitude. She got an attitude when I told the lady checking me in that the room should already be paid for. She said something in Spanish to the girl checking me in and checked the computer, as if I was lying, so was just nasty. The day we checked out, I had an issue with the machine to open the gate to leave, she came out with an attitude scanned her badge thing to open the gate and said "it's right here" which she was referring to were I would scan my room key to open the gate. Had to tell her we checked out and the machine wasn't working, all she said was "oh ". If you are that unhappy in your life or hate your job, please do us a favor and move on and stay away from customers service. Bathroom could use a better cleaning, sink had yucky stuff on the inside of the sink, and the shower edges needed a scrub, looked a bit slimy. The bed spread what appeared to be dry blood. Did have it replaced and staff tried to say it was nail polish, I know the difference. I did fail by not taking pictures.

I tired their new automated bar feature but the dispensers serve mostly foam. The room was the most disappointing experience. Stained carpet, dirty room, filthy shower, a cracker-jack repair jobs. The pool water was gray and cloudy, and the patio area just not tended to. The follow up email from management was just a cookie cutter standard template. Probably not their fault, a lot of these properties are not owned by Hilton but by cheap foreign companies with low budgets and high expectations. Stay away from this location.

But it's probably good that they did that because other locations of America's Best were pretty icky the last I noticed. THIS LOCATION was ALWAYS by far the BEST in their lineup. And it's still GREAT. It's different. The rooms are smaller but it's still always been one of my favorite hotels. The BEDS ARE AWESOME and the BEDDING is AWESOME. They double sheet with a comforter in the middle. These beds are simple luxury and the pillows are great & the towels are soft. The only downside is none of the rooms have bathtubs if that's important. Yup they have waffles and a little more for breakfast but don't come for the breakfast, come for the BEDS! Location wise it's an easy walk to the Mission Inn so you can stay here and enjoy all the fun at the Mission Inn. Take the TOURS there. The whole downtown area has really improved over the years. Lots of nice looking restaurants etc and this hotel is an easy walk to it all. Do NOT miss Tio's Tacos and try to visit when it's daylight. If you find this review helpful please vote!

The girl at the front desk was super nice and friendly and checked us in very quickly. She offered us water and snacks. The room was very nice too. We had a queen bed with a tv in the room, coffee machine and fridge. No smell or anything in the room. Here were the problems however. The bed was lumpy along with the pillows. I woke up the following morning with back pain. They had told us breakfast was included so we went downstairs and again were disappointed. There were scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, cereal and fruit. Juice and coffee as well. The only good thing was probably the coffee. The eggs tasted like they were out of a carton and watered down. So my advice would be skip the breakfast and go somewhere else, which we later did.

What made it worse wasn't just the inconvenience, but the response from staff. When I brought it up, there was no urgency, no apology, and no effort to provide a solution or alternative. For a hotel that caters to travelers who often rely on laundry during longer stays, this is a pretty basic amenity to neglect. Not to mention it's COIN OPERATED. Marriott has gone WAY down hill. Hilton would NEVER LOL. If you're planning to stay here for more than a night or two, don't count on being able to do laundry. Between the lack of functional equipment and the indifferent staff response, it's just not reliable.

My husband went to work and I stopped by the front desk to make sure there would be no interruption in my stay. I was told that they needed an additional $50 deposit per day. This wouldn't have been a problem if I had a credit card, I did not. I asked the front desk ladies (very friendly) if I could pay cash. They said no, and rules are rules. I thought of getting a prepaid visa card and they said that would work. Luckily my husband had a friend pick him up for work and left the key to the car. If that hadn't happened, I would have had to walk 6 miles round trip to the nearest store to get the prepaid visa to give the additional deposit. At one point I was warned that my key would stop working if I didn't give the deposit. This would have left my cat trapped in the room by herself, and me locked outside. Lol! Thank goodness it didn't come to that. Nef could have easily taken cash, or charged the additional deposit to either of the 2 credit cards used in the booking. His inflexability and crappy attitude were the only bad part about our stay. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable.

The room is filthy, there's hair in the tub that definitely looks like it needs a good bleach scrubbing too. The floor is tore up and also dirty. The bed is okay, not super comfortable but still probably the cleanest thing in this room. We do have a window, and outside is a broken down wall with a ton on trash and filth outside. The curtains have cigarette burns and a possible blood stain. The door to the bathroom doesn't latch and looks like it was busted into. And the couch is broken and at a slant. Also roach infestation! The room is probably the best part of this place. Outside is tons of homeless and druggies. I watched one vomit in front of reception and the poor cleaning lady had to chase him away with a mop and clean it up. Also, the reception is a window that a movie theater or fast food restaurant would have. You don't go inside. Sketchy. However the lady who helped me check in was very nice and the staff I have met so far has been rather helpful and friendly. Can't say the same for the people staying here. The people in the room next to us loudly fight and have a dog that barks loudly. Only reason I am giving 2 stars is because friendly staff and the free coffee is decent. But don't stay here if you have a choice.
