I went to a wedding here over the weekend. I can't speak to how they were to deal with, but the space was pretty cool. They don't have their own parking, but there were lots around. On street parking has a limit, so for daytime functions, keep an eye on the clock. Floors were good for dancing. The acoustics were decent for the music and microphone use. The ladies room was new, clean and plentiful. They had an elevator like I'd never seen before. I liked the venue from a guest point of view.

Olio is a hidden gem in the North Shore! We just got married in April, and Olio was an integral part of our wedding's magic. It's a beautiful space, and with just a few flowers and lights it absolutely blossomed-our guests raved about the venue! It was such a breeze to have our ceremony & reception all in one place, and the transition process was seamless. Sarah was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process-from the first time we stepped into the venue, to post-wedding loose ends, she was available to help us. Sarah and her staff are attentive, detail-oriented, and caring. They are clearly in the right business!

From the moment we walked into Olio for our first tour, I was awestruck by the grandiose space. As a designer with a specific aesthetic in mind, it was important for me to choose a venue that truly felt beautiful and unique even without any decor set up in it-and Olio is exactly that! Sarah and Ellen have done an incredible job preserving the history of the space, yet still making it feel modern and industrial. We ultimately picked Olio for its aesthetic, but also for its location as we wanted to be in a place where guests would enjoy spending the 4th of July weekend. It is driving distance to all of the waterfront hot spots on the North Shore and our guests were excited to take day trips to Rockport, Gloucester, and Salem over the weekend. Before the ceremony, the space was perfect for our first look with our photographer, it provided a historical backdrop for family photos and had an office space for us to hide away and collect our thoughts before the ceremony. My husband and I were within walking distance of many backdrops for our formal photos and had so much fun jumping around town with our photographer. It was also important for us to have the ceremony and reception in the same spot and Olio is large and accommodating enough to provide exactly that. We brought a lot of decor ourselves and Olio was able to let us drop off items the day before and pick them up the morning after which really let us enjoy our actual day without worrying about set up or break down. Since Sarah has much experience working in the wedding industry, we chose vendors per her preferred list and the day went off without a hitch because all of our vendors were familiar with working with Sarah and at Olio. Because of the history of the space, the acoustics for our band let guests dance and party the night away! On the day of our wedding, we received the ultimate compliment over and over from our guests as we heard "this space is so you!". 1000% recommend Olio for *any* event!

Having the opportunity to visit this venue for Peabody Pride event, I had a good time. Upon sitting down to write, there was a problem: How the hell do you write a review on an event space? Considering there's outside catering, people running an event, and no in-house bar (but an outside service could be brought in) what is there to write about? Well, the building itself carries an industrial feel with the concrete walls (apparently the first of it's kind when it was built in the early 1900's according to the website) with yet a rustic feel with the hardwood floors and high-vaulted wood frame cieling. And it is a large space which has been updated with restrooms, a new set of stairs, even an elevator lift. I will say for the venue, I did like the space. It was quite impressive to say the least. Looking up the venue prices, there was a sticker shock at first. Peak season on a Saturday can run $5000 (most expensive, off season is $3,500 but also available hourly for $200/hr Monday-Thursday), but considering our research on venues in the past when booking our Wedding, this is actually pretty decent pricing, and they are flexible if there are last-minute bookings. The site also offers a discount to non-profits and Peabody residents (yeah baby!) although it isn't posted what that rate is. With regard to ease of set up, there are the front stairs to the entrance on Main street (which would be aweful on so many levels both literal and figurative as the space is on the second floor), and there is a rear entrance which goes to the venue space itself. It seemed vendors were using this access. I did not explore that as I figured it was meant for vendors to use and quite frankly I had no business there. Maybe a little more liquor, poor judgement, and friends to egg me on I would of, but moi femme does not like that. All said and done, I would like to attend future events there. If I were to book a venue, this would be on a short list of places I would check out.

My husband and I thankfully stumbled upon Olio when we typed in "unique, industrial wedding venue." When we arrived and stepped inside the lobby area, it looked so clean, bright and modern. Then we went up the stairs and WOWWWW - we were legitimately speechless. The enormous room with so many historical features and endless possibilities really blew us away. It's a blank canvas, waiting for you to design the best day of your life in ANY way you want! We secured our date with Sarah within a couple of days and I'm so glad we did. Not only is it a gorgeous venue, but Sarah and her team were also incredibly speedy and helpful in answering any emails and questions we had along the way. Now that our wedding is a few months behind us, we really can't imagine having it at any other place. It was truly the best day of our lives and we got so many compliments from our guests on what a seamless and fun wedding it was. We are forever grateful to Sarah & team for everything they do. If you're looking for something different than the usual beach or hotel wedding, you should really choose Olio!!

Olio is absolutely stunning! They were the first and only wedding venue that we toured, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. When entering Olio, the first floor was unassuming, and we weren't sure if we were in the same space that we had seen in the photos. But wow, when you head over to the stairs! After walking up the grand stairs to the event space, we knew we found the venue for our dream wedding. We were looking for a modern, alternative space that we could hold the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Planning a wedding during the pandemic, we needed a venue that had plenty of space to spread out while also feeling intimate and personal. Olio was the perfect space. We both have a minimalistic design sense, so the exposed concrete walls, hardwood floors and impressive windows create such a beautiful space that we didn't need to go over the top with decorations. It was so cool to hear the history of the space; a detail our guests loved. Sarah was so positive and helpful through the whole process; answering any questions we had and checking in regularly.

We loved having our wedding at Olio. Our florist told us about it and after visiting, we literally cancelled all our upcoming venue tours. This was where we were going to get married! We wanted to have a space that would let us fully design everything, and there weren't a lot of options in the Boston area. This was the first place we found that had the start-from-scratch option, was stunningly beautiful, and fit our budget. We had 100 guests in our wedding, but the space could have held much more. We wanted to have our ceremony and our reception in one place, so just flipped the room during cocktail hour. Our guests loved looking at the unique space and spreading out in the big banquet hall. Plenty of space to dance as well! The hardwood floors added to the dance floor vibes. The owner, Sarah, is amazing to work with. She has tons of event planning experience, which also means she knows the best people to work with in the business. There were a lot of things we didn't have to worry about because Sarah knew what to do with supply dropoffs, etc. She helped us have fun and have the prefect wedding. We might just have to plan another random party at Olio again because the experience was that good.

Before we were even engaged we knew Olio was going to be the one. We saw photos of a wedding that took place at Olio in 2021 and loved the modern industrial vibe. I followed their Instagram account and was sold. It was the only venue we toured and we booked a November 2023 date right away. Every single time we walked into the room we got excited and knew our guests would be wowed. The space is so unique and a wide open canvas to make your own. We knew we wanted a club vibe and the high ceilings and cement block walls were the perfect backdrop for a disco party. The proximity to Salem was another plus because it gave our guests a chance to explore an area they've never been to. Sarah is so helpful and informative and very communicative which is helpful for someone like me who has a million questions. We received compliment upon compliment for our venue choice and we wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Olio team!

The burger is THAT good…read more Came here on a Saturday in October. Party of 2 during lunch time and we got seated in 15 minutes. Had to try the burger cause I heard about it online. Oh. My. God. The burger really is that good. Hands down the best burger I've ever tasted. It was juicy but not pink or red. The jam was the perfect amount- enough so i could taste it but it did not overwhelm the burger (coming from a hard core jam lover). Despite the juiciness from the burger, the bun was not soggy. Fries were pretty good. Cole slaw was nothing to write home about. We tried going back for a SECOND BURGER on a Monday but their hours are different so we couldn't. So good I didn't even get a picture. If anyone was to ask me a restaurant to recommend in Salem, this would be it.

We had the nachos (do yourself a favor and buy only a half order because it's HUGE). They were so good and I didn't even have enough room for more food after that. Service was attentive and good! I got the "Summer Fling" cocktail and it was truly one of the best cocktails I've had in quite sometime. I had a couple of them and honestly, could have continued throwing them down if I knew I didn't need to be in decent shape the next day. The live music was fantastic too. All-in-all, still a cozy and great vibe here. I hope to go there again soon!

The vodka drink is good, you can taste the vodka and strawberry, it's almost like a strawberry purée. It was a neat experience to see the "fake blood" go into the glass to drink I'm a tequila person but this was good. If only they had a margarita in bag like this, it would be good too. The food. I love taco salad, and this was pretty good. It's a big size portion too. My husband got one of the burritos which was huge but he said the taste didn't really taste like a burrito. He could taste the green sauce more than the meat and other things in it. I liked it but it definitely tasted more of the texmex side of things. Still would recommend this place!!! Will be back.

Indoor and outdoor space is plenty and the service team is well equipped to handle the masses. We got there right in the middle of the mess and we're seated promptly. Tables cleared and they cleaned them asap to help with the rush. Love the fact that they were prepared for the mess that Salem turns when in Which season. 5 of us and food came out pretty fast too. The menu is not huge, its the same basic ingredients reused for different items. I had the steak tips with Mexican rice and beans, guacamole and a bit of lettuce. It was great. Ps add a bit of Howling sause but its not hot, well i like hot. The other adults plates were also good but with the caveat below. Its not real Mexican, its americanized Mexican.. Not Chipotle nor taco bell but you can tell as they use flour tortillas instead of corn. I know, i go to mex restaurants every Tuesday and can tell when its legit vs just good food. All Souls Lounge in Salem was the perfect sanctuary. It's a small, intimate spot that fills up fast, if you don't get there early, you'll be left haunting the sidewalk waiting for a table. Luckily, they offer outdoor seating, which was great for cooling off after spending two hours surrounded by ceremonial candles. The service was remarkably fast for a packed house. The cocktails were delicious and flavorful, though if you're looking to banish your inner demons in one sip, note that they aren't the absolute strongest in town. What really stole the show, however, was the food menu: they have a massive selection of gourmet grilled cheeses and hot dogs. Speaking of which: after finishing my meal, I went home inspired to attempt another quick ritual. I was trying to summon an ancient Hot Dog Spirit to bless my midnight snack cravings, but I mangled the Latin incantation and accidentally conjured a Grilled Cheese Ghost instead. Now my apartment smells like toasted sourdough, and there is a glowing ectoplasmic slice of melted cheddar hovering over my couch. Overall, a fantastic spot to refuel whether you're a local, a tourist, or just an exhausted practitioner of the dark arts. Highly recommend!
