Saint Simeon Catholic Cemetery

Both of my parents were buried at St. Simeon over the last two years but I have not been impressed…read morewith the services here. It took the cemetary over NINE months to get my dad's small, simple memorial stone placed, and when it was finally set up, it was not aligned properly with my mom's headstone. It was set sloppily off to one side. Further, our mom's headstone lettering faded terribly after just a year, so that you can't even read most of the words on it now. When I brought this up to Tim, he gave me the name of a company that does headstone lettering. When I shared that we should not have to pay to have the lettering re-done after just a year, my emails were ignored. Further, the people at the cemetery do not respond to emails or calls in a timely manner. I usually have to call multiple times to get a response. My parents' memorial stones look terrible and I couldn't be more disappointed with this place.

We lost our only son David in June 2023 and the funeral and burial was supposed to be held on 26…read moreJuly 2023. However, my son's ex wife Joelle manipulated my son's oldest kids which are legally next of kin NOT to bury our son David on the day of the funeral burial despite the fact that we had already paid for the memorial service with Romero funeral home and to "St. Simeon Cemetery in Aurora, CO" - we used the credit cards to pay for everything which came out to be $13,000! Because we got stabbed in the backed by my son's ex wife and oldest grandchildren, and no fault of our own, we ended up owing the St. Simeon Catholic cemetary $2,420 for "opening and closing grave and vault" - This catholic cemetery, St. Simeon in Aurora was notified on 26 July 2023 by the legal next of kin, the two oldest kid of our son David that they are joining to burn/cremate my son instead! It is now 12 September and the Catholic St. Simeon cemetery in Aurora still owes us $4,569.13!!!!! Each time we call about the refund check, we are getting the same story "that the refund of $4,569.13 is being processed and we will receive a check" - we are being charged interest on the credit card and it seems this Catholic St. Simeon Cemetery in Aurora, Colorado is jerking us around and it is going on two month now and so far has not refunded the amounted they admitted they owe in the amount of $4569.13! If you plan on burying a loved one that this cemetery, make 100% sure that nobody in the family can call off the burial - otherwise you will be waiting for your refund from the Catholic St. Simeon Cemetery in Aurora forever!

Meaningful Donation

My father wanted his body donated to science and then cremated. This is exactly what Meaningful…read moreDonation does, and they do it at no cost. When my dad passed away, the hospital gave me the contact info for "Meaningful Donation" in Aurora Colorado, and I called them. They have an after hours answering service (a real person, not a robot) who took a message, and I received a call back from the company within 30 minutes. They were very kind and compassionate throughout the process, and they took care of all arrangements with the hospital. They will collect the body, provide next of kin with a signed death certificate, use the body for science and medical research (teaching medical students), and then cremate the remains and send some of the ashes back to the surviving family member. I highly recommend this option for people who prefer cremation to casket and burial.

We unfortunately did not have a good experience making the grief process all the more difficult…read more Everything leading up to my fathers passing was very smooth. We are strong believers in this process but the communication broke down quickly. We were unable to contact the owner and did not get a call back after his passing. Her mailbox was full and the 24 hour line was an automated robot that was frankly off putting. (My father was properly picked up from hospice care and tended to, we just didnt get the notification about it.) We then received documentation that we were not suppose to receive that added grief and confusion. Without the communication and explanation from the owner, we were left frazzled and confused. Unfortunately, when we did get in touch with owner, her emotions were more important than ours in this gentle state. My fathers brain was able to be donated ahead of our communication after her passed, but after we finally got in touch, it got personal wanting to go over why a comment that I made (and apologized for) hurt her feelings. She then got more personal telling me her mailbox did not have a personal message because she had creditors coming after her. We were then told we had to find another solution for the remainder of the remains of my father. This was cruel to leave us in this situation. Our conversations we prioritized by her needing to vent her feelings and not understanding how sad we were during this time and just wanting to do the right thing. Again, we believe in this process, and strongly encourage others to participate. Just not through this company. We weren't looking for "free cremation services" or a "free transportation" (this we got- a whopping $150 value. lucky us). We genuinely wanted to honor my dad's wishes, but this company didn't let that happen. We have had 2 other experiences with this type of donation and were never met with this type of situation.
