Oldenburg Contracting is the BEST! You WANT them to work for you!!! Jason Oldenburg rescued my 'Money Pit' home from being sold 'as is' - at a substantial loss - to a sale that yielded a 500% GAIN over what we paid for it! Yes, the market was/is good for sellers, but without Jason Oldenburg's amazing estimating and proposal skills, his outstanding technical and workmanship skills, his eye for detail, use and management of also-excellent subcontractors, and killer work ethic, I would have literally walked away from hundreds of thousands of dollars.
My beautiful 2000sf beach home was destroyed by renters and needed a complete interior demo and remodel. After I'd been ripped off by and had fired another contractor 'Mr X', for slip-shod work, Jason submitted an EXCELLENT, highly detailed, line-itemized proposal with many options, for all the work needing to done.
I pulled owner permits that should have been pulled by Mr X and scheduled a city inspection to get a baseline prior to Jason starting up. Even though it wasn't his job yet, Jason was present during the inspection to answer the inspectors' questions. I believe the positive inspection results were due to Jason's involvement.
Jason literally stepped into a big mess but quickly and methodically whipped the place into shape. He fixed half-started, stutter-started and "non-started" (holes) electrical & plumbing and brought everything up to code.
After Jason started up, and after 6 grueling months dealing with Mr X, I found myself worn out; I was done. I couldn't make one more decision. When Jason asked me to the site for some tile review and sign-off, I said "please just do what you think will sell." Without skipping a beat or ripping me off he just handled it, with grace and professionalism. Then, and over the life of the contract - and BEYOND, as it turned out - I never saw an unexpected boost in price, ever. I never heard the words "well, it's gonna increase your COST..." Without exception, the few added costs were due to specific requests made by ME that involved addition of line items and/or late changes in design. (eg: I decided I DID want the ceilings painted, on second thought!)
I believe that Jason's excellent execution of our contract and his handling of the details with minimum involvement from me - and in fact, taking over FOR me at one point - was made possible because his original itemized estimate was so well-thought out. He and I met on numerous occasions to discuss what I thought I wanted and then he was able to translate my general ideas into very specific contract line items and pricing.
Jason LISTENED to what I wanted, gave me an estimate with numerous options that allowed me to choose how I wanted to proceed. This eliminated the "unexpected" cost increases or revisions that seem to routinely "crop up" with other contractors.
Jason and his team fully realized MY vision, top to bottom: tiles to counters to shades of paint to light fixtures and switches appropriate to the location. Jason even "threw in" a chandelier and some other "owner-supplied" materials, saving me money, charging me nothing.
Stated simply: Jason Oldenburg has a visionary talent to provide for every detail - including the unexpected - thereby ensuring the contract will finish at the the originally proposed price.
Believe me: if you want to realize the best work at the best price, you want to hire Jason Oldenburg to work for you because HE is the best! read more
