Carniceria Valdez is literally a counter in the back of a Mexican grocery, but coming out of that kitchen is some mighty fine Mexican food. I went with a couple of tacos and a gordita. For the gordita, I went with chorizo as the protein and for the tacos I went with the asada and the barbacoa. The tacos were just under two dollars each ($1.99 to be exact) and the gordita was, I believe, $3.50. I probably enjoyed the gordita the most and the chorizo was definitely my favorite protein out of my three choices. The staff was friendly enough, though the ordering process was you walk up to the counter and order your meal and they call you up when it is ready. All in all, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.

Service is such you order at the counter and it was efficient. I am a fan of crab and was elated to try the crab on a bun sandwich. When I pulled it out of the bag, I was side eyeing the size but there was plenty of crabmeat on that bun! It was lightly seasoned and had a fresh taste to it. I so enjoyed the sandwich. I also loved the tomato and olive side that I decided to go with. I feel like I got two meals in one because the side was filling enough to probably be an entree. I will be a repeat customer as I enjoyed my first visit.

I saw Good Boy Po'boys and decided to stop there and try it out. I was a little dismayed to see that Yelp had zero reviews, but I figured I'd give it a try. I do love a good Poboy! On arrival, it's a neat building. Everything was in good order. It looked like it had been freshly cleaned and they put a little bit of money into decorating and making a good environment to eat and enjoy. You order at the counter and the girl taking my order was friendly and gave me her take on the sandwiches. Mind you, this is a pretty limited menu, considering the name of the place! When in Rome, I decided on a Crawfish Po'boy with a side of fries. I tried to order the Hot Side of the day, Crawfish Etouffe, but was told it was still in the oven. I guess the kitchen is still working on their timing. Speaking of timing, don't think you can rush in here on a lunch break and eat real quick. No this takes time. They are making these sandwiches to order, and clearly take pride in each one! While it took 15 minutes for the sandwich to come out, it was worth the wait! My crawfish were literally falling out of the stuffed bread. Each little nugget of crawfish was perfectly seasoned and fried to crisp perfection! The Cajun mayo dressing was spectacular! And they brag on their specialty bread for good reason. Crisp, tender, soft, chewy deliciousness. And the order of fries was outstanding! Fluffy logs of potatoes with crisp edges and pillowy insides. Well seasoned and not over salted! My biggest (i.e., only complaint) is the way it was served. No tray, no plate, just a bag of fries and a sandwich wrapped in parchment style paper. I get it, maybe this is a cost saving measure, or maybe it relates to a lack of kitchen space for a dishwasher. Either way way, gimme a plate! Good Boy Po'boys is worth a stop! I'll be back!

It was perfect in my opinion because I like crusty bread but it wasn't so much so that you end up with a lap full of crumbs. The shrimp were delicious, seasoned and cooked up to perfection and served amid fresh crisp lettuce tomatoes and pickles. The creole mayo added a little zip to the flavor but it was not too hot! It comes with a drink and Zapp's chips for $12 but I opted to upgrade to the seasoned fries and they were well worth the extra $2 charge. I will definitely be back as it was an enjoyable lunch at an excellent price for such a good quality meal. Think I will try the roast beef next!
