I'm not typically a fan of normal bar food but after looking at the menu for Olde Brick House online and having read good reviews online as well, we thought it sounded good enough to try out once at least. When I tell you that we ate some of the best food we've ever eaten, I mean, we ate some of THE BEST FOOD WE'VE EVER EATEN! We have been back 4 times since we first went and the food has been delicious af every time! We have tried the pretzel appetizer, which we love, the fish and chips, the Dick Titus commercial dish, each kids meal item on the menu, the avocado chicken bacon ranch sandwich (my favorite) and the avocado and chicken salad. The staff always greet you when you enter and are friendly and accommodating every time we've been. Everyone should try this place!! It's our new favorite restaurant! There's something for EVERYONE! Also, the decor of the restaurant is just perfect. I've been to restaurants that are trying to be something they're not, to be kitchy, to be a farce on someone's culture but this restaurant is darling. I feel like it is as if a person listened to their grandma or grandpa's stories from the old country and designed the restaurant and decor from their stories and memories. Great food. Sundays are happy hour all day long! Service was good and Brea checked on us regularly. We tried the Ruben wontons, which were delicious. We might have not ordered them if we had known that our meal portions would be so generous. The Fish & chips were some of the best I've ever had. My wife reported that the meatloaf was very good. We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy later. We definitely will be going back.There are other menu choices we want to try in the future. Loved the decor as well. read more

I love the Ruben Wontons as an appetizer! Today I'm trying the beat and goat cheese salad which looks fabulous. The atmosphere is authentic. Makes you feel like you're straight out of Ireland. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone that loves Ireland. read more

This place is reminiscent of an Old Irish Pub but in a more modern setting. We had the bangers and mash and fish and chips and both were excellent. We sat at the bar and the server was attentive and knowledgeable, especially when it came to whiskey (we ordered a flight - highly recommend this!). I was admittedly hesitant coming here on St Patrick's Day and doubly so when I realized it was part of the mall, but I left pleasantly surprised. We were seated in a table tucked away behind the host stand, which was simultaneously VIP and a weird forgotten nook lol. Even the staff were commenting on it - apparently it's the owners' fave spot when they visit. They did have some special menu items and deals on their classics for the holiday, which worked out in my boyfriend's favor. He went with scotch eggs and shepherds pie and washed it all down with two very different jagerbombs. I opted for pretzel bites and a Reuben. Aside from the questionable jagerbombs, everything was pretty good. Portions were decent and my boyfriend even had some leftovers to bring home. The shrimp was not overcooked, and the sauce was to die for. Moved on to the soup and salad. While the guiness stew was good. I found the chunks of meat too big for a small bowl. Good, but my least favorite of the night. On to the entrees. The corned beef and cabbage was nothing short of divine. The maritime cream sauce really added a nice touch, and the corned beef was perfect. Tender, yet grilled to add finished on the grill. It's Some of the best corned beef I've ever had. Kim had the prime rib sandwich. It came with mushrooms and onion straws. Perhaps a bit dry, but it was tender and tasty. The venue feels homey yet somewhat upscale. Unbelievable whiskey selection. The Ole Brick House is undeniably among the upper echelon of Iowan restaurants. With a Sunday special that can't be beat and entree's overloaded with food I always have to take some extras home. As an Irish pub, the ambience is cozy and inviting with memorabilia from Ireland and old fashion advertising strewn about. We tried the Olde Brick House for happy hour. They offer drink specials and some food specials. The Old Fashioned was solid and my friend had a nice beer. The fish and chips were excellent and we enjoyed the small serving so we could try more food items. The scotch eggs were a little dry. My friend had the pretzel bites served with cheese and mustard sauces. They were hot and tasty. Definitely will return to try more food. read more

Went recently to test some of the new menu items. Fabulous in every way. Had the Dick Titus and it was great. Happy hour is phenomenal with $3 Jameson bumps and $5 old fashions!!! They have great whiskey collection, and on Thursdays it's half off on the whiskeys. Service is good, we were 16 people and our server handled it great. In terms of food, it's good, not many options for people who don't eat beef and pork, the chicken options though less were tasty. We decided to step out of our comfort zone and try something new. Wow! Everything was delicious!! Absolutely loved the smashed peas! I had the bangers and mashed which consisted of 2 pork sausages over mashed potatoes covered with tender seasoned cabbage and brown gravy. "Oh my!" That is what I kept saying with every bite! Loved it! Hubby had the Dick Titus commercial. A thin sliced prime rib sandwich with swiss on grilled sourdough. It came over mashed potatoes with gravy. He said it was good and he would definitely eat it again. We started off with the goat cheese bruschetta. It was very light and fresh. We went during lunch so it was pretty quiet. It's been a long time since I ate at a restaurant and said that the food was "delicious ". And what I, and my husband, had here tonight was delicious. I had a Rice Bowl with Ahi Tuna. It had fresh mangos, tomato's , red onion, scallions, pickled jalapeño, grilled corn, a delicious drizzle and a little crunch on top all over a bed of brown rice. My husband had the Bangers and Mash and it was fantastic. The gravy and sausage was, again, delicious. The staff (a shout out to Levi who was great and answered many of my questions and gave suggestions on whiskey to my husband!) went above and beyond and made me a fresh cuppa decaf coffee so I could have their fantastic Irish coffee. It's so good here. Service was impeccable. The menu is vast, too. As mentioned not just Irish fare here. They have sandwiches, fish tacos, soup, salads, etc. Folks you are missing out! Definitely get the Irish coffee while you look through the menu. Good place for kids, too, as so much to look at and talk about regarding Ireland and Irish culture on display. read more

I love the Olde Brick House in Rochester, MN. A must visit when in the area. So when I was passing through my old home town (CR, lived there for 24 years) and saw they opened one here I was very excited, which turned into disappointment. I went with the classic fish and chips, to which the fish was ok, the sauces were watery, and the fries absolutely bland. My wife's Corned Beef and Cabbage had zero presentation, just slopped on the plate, and the corned beef was undercooked. But her potatoes were quite lovely. The kitchen needs to study from the Rochester location on how to cook and present the food. I really hope they get themselves sorted out, because CR really needs good places to eat. read more

Not too thrilled with The Olde Brickhouse Irish Pub in Cedar Rapids. Went there for a bite and after 45 minutes with no food, we asked to talk to the manager we were told they left so there wasn't anyone to talk to regarding the situation. I get things happen but this was not a good experience for the first time here. Not sure we will be back any time soon. Just wanted to give y'all a heads up. The person in charge at the time , Kyle, did give us gift certificates for another visit so they tried to make it right. We will see! read more

I thought the exterior and interior decor were attractive and the menu had a couple interesting items so we decided to try it. We asked to sit in a booth and pointed to a couple options but we're told "No", due to server rotation". Keep in mind the restaurant was 20% full if that. I have honestly never been told no to a request for a seat except to give them time to clean it. Next we waited a few minutes for our server to arrive with water and told her we needed a couple minutes with the menu. Five or more minutes go by, no sign of our server. Another employee walked by our table aimlessly, empty handed, but never acknowledged us during her three or more strolls by our table. Finally, we concluded that we were not going to be served at this special high top where we'd been seated; and went next door to eat where we were promptly given a booth and pleasant service. I brought friends and family from Ireland, and we were repeatedly asked when we would be leaving because they wanted the table. I explained that in Ireland, it's customary to sit for an hour after dinner to have a drink and chat, but the server ignored us until we left. We have been here several times. The corned beef and cabbage is out of this world, the shepherds pie is really amazing and they do a great fish and chips. The whiskey selection can't be matched anywhere else. But despite having $895 2 ounce Scotch pours on the bar menu they really need some help in the bartending department. On our last visit we ordered a dry martini, straight up for a person at our table. It came out warm and mostly vermouth. The bartender came out and explained to us that a dry martini contains mostly vermouth and straight up means straight from the bottle without any mixing in ice. Good to know that this guy has the low down on martinis and every bartender we have ordered from across the country has been misinformed. I mean, if you always want to be right, maybe bartending isn't your gig. read more

Went for lunch on 11/13. We had a party of 5 adults, 1 child, and a baby, so it required 2 tables to be pushed together. We waited 40 minutes while we watched the hostess seat people at empty tables right next to parties who were nearly finished when there were plenty of other places she could have seated them. It was extremely frustrating! The service was good, the food was just OK. Unlikely that we'll be returning or recommending to others read more
