Ok so this is not a place that I would think for a Pittsburgh restaurant. The decor was nice and reminds me of home (being a Pittsburgh native), but the food was something less to be desired. The burger I had was meh. I was not expecting to have onions in it. The cheese on it was good but then bacon was there but very hidden. The fries I had were over cooked and then over seasoned. My wife had the pulled pork. She said it was pork with a Mexican flavor then add BBQ, but it was grey looking and to me didn't look appetizing. She also had fries, and they were the exact same way. We actually didn't finish our meal because we started to get sick from it. Service was great, prompt and timely refills were on the spot but the food was less to be desired. read more

I will try this place again. I wasn't really happy with my meal but it was liver and onions so it's a hard thing to find and so it's kinda iffy when you do. It was way more than the 6 ozs it says it was but it was pretty low grade liver. Totally understand. Who eats that anymore?. Old people. It wasn't bad just really grisly . Didn't get my salad. The service was great. Loved our waiter. Drinks were good and there was entertainment. We will go back for sure. I want to try so many things on the menu. Loved the company and conversation from the owner during the almost 45 minute wait for my nachos. But, to be fair, they came to a work event and there were dozens of people ordering food all at once. Once the Carne Asada Nachos were finally ready, the homemade chips were to die for. The meat was flavorful, the peppers, cheeses and sour cream added the perfect toppers to the best nachos I've ever had. Some of the menu items were a bit pricey. I recently booked them for a company function. This husband and wife team is the best food truck in Phoenix. They offered a full menu for 450 people and stayed 11 hours. The entire time they interacted with all of us and the food was great. Try the pastrami burger but no matter what you get you can't go wrong. Ok so this was an awful experience. We had a party of 7 including 3 children and as soon as we sat down the waiter tells us they are out of chicken tender and fried chicken in general. Ok so my kids picked Mac and cheese. Oh but nope they are out of that too. So I could only order fries for my kids since everything else they enjoy was out. 2 meals were completely wrong and had to be sent back and the waiter tried blaming us his mistake twice!! Waiter never asked us how the food or got us drinks for refills, spent more time flirting with the other waitress to care. Did t offer a box for left over food. Just threw us the bill. Even though I saw bad reviews I thought we'd give them a try. Then once there I understood the bad reviews! Service is slow, yes everyone is, but when the restaurant isn't busy there's no excuse. Mimosas, give you a lot for $10 but waaaay too much syrup! The prickly pear one was ok, the other too was just syrup! And they add ice to them ???. Waitress even said owners don't make them right and not enough champagne. Food was bland and fries cold. Husbands Philly cheesesteak had barely any meat, so we sent it back. Fries on all 3 dishes cold and dead. So we waited. My patty melt was bland. A bit of salt and pepper wouldn't hurt! Sonics patty melt is so much better! We initially went for the Bloody Mary bar but after seeing the toppings, dead celery green olives and shrimp...not much of a bar. I read online somewhere "free milkshakes for kids", so owner offered my son a free one as a "sorry" for the problems we had. Overall don't recommend. I don't know how to reply to the owners comment but my husband was not yelling at me!!! Check yourself before accusing us of arguing!! Doesn't excuse your business for the crappy service! Yeah we didn't want veggies, doesn't mean you only put a little bit of meat. The whole middle section of the sandwich was empty! We ate at Old School Grub locate at 6555 E Southern ave #844 on 5/22/21. My Wife ordered a patty melt with onion rings and I ordered a Cheesesteak sandwich with French fries. The patty melt was under cooked and the onion rings were soggy and very greasy. Onion rings are to be crisped and not soggy. Why the patty melt was under cooked when ordered medium well, I don't know. My Cheesesteak was over cooked. The meat was burnt on the ends. The French fries were cooked just right. They were crisp and we liked them. The service was great, our server was polite, answered our questions and was very professional. We love the decor of the restaurant. The restaurant was also very clean. The prices on the menu were fair but what we ordered and the way it was cooked, was sub par to other restaurants that we have eaten at ordering the same food. Went on a whim to eat dinner tonight. The menu isn't very outstanding. My boyfriend had a club sandwich and I had ham and grilled cheese. The fries were thick and tastes like store bought from frozen and nothing special. The grilled cheese was super greasy and too much cheese. They used two slices of American and ham in the middle. I make it better at home atmosphere was clean enough and nice but there's no beer on tap and the food was literally not that great we actually both left half of our meal. I can't say they're horrible. it's just that it's not outstanding enough to eat there again or give anything more than two stars. They need some pizazz and some special ingredients or snazzy to make it stand out. read more

Um! This place is insane! Not only are Carlotta and Mike the coolest! Literally- nicest people serving up banging food! It is by far my favorite food truck in the valley~ Their burgers are so flavorful and juicy! Their quesadillas are huge and their new nachos.... CRAZY! Saw the sign when you drive into the mall for old school grub opened for breakfast, and decided to check it out. Food was great, was the best chicken fried steak I had in 30 years. Frank the owner came over and talked to us for a bit, and you know he really wants to make your vist a good time for everyone. Food was every bit as good as over easy, and better. It's more of an east coast vibe, like I grew up with, and its just easier to relax and have a good meal. My wife and kids liked it, and the staff laughed at my Dad jokes, great food, great people, and a great place to have Sunday brunch. read more

Love this place! My friends & I have been going there at noon on Sundays for live music by Chuck Peterson, a great local entertainer. There is enough floor space to enjoy some dancing if you're so inclined. Breakfast is served until 1pm which is a plus but you can also get lunch. Food is diverse, tasty, & affordable. The staff is super friendly and welcoming! Love the atmosphere and the decorations. They have games out like connect 4 and perfection that you can play while waiting for your food, and when the food came out it was super good and hit the spot just right.
