I've been here three times for lunch. Their food is very good but ruined by sitting too long at the pick up area. The first time I went I had the pizza. I like thin and crispy crust and this was pretty good. It just wasn't hot. The second time I ordered off the Oktoberfest menu. Delicious. Today I tried a specialty cheese burger. The meat was dry and overcooked. The cheese was melted but by the time it got to the table it was already cold and hard. The fries were cold as well. Great night out for us! We don't get out often enough so we like to make it count! We were entertained by an energetic cover band - The Chain - and enjoyed fun food and great service. We started with some amazing cheese curds, then onto the entrees. I had a gorgeous fresh salad with grilled shrimp. Hubs ate every bite of his fish sandwich - one of his favs. Our wait person - Halle - really hustled up and down stairs covering our section, as we had Birds Eye view seating on the balcony. Drove from Aurora to see the band The 1985 and was not disappointed. Old Republic's patio area was rocking. And even though we weren't at a table (sitting on a planter) we had a good view and some service. We ordered drinks and the steak nachos. The drinks were light on the alcohol but price seemed typical of similar bar drinks we've had. Nachos were plentiful but we wouldn't necessarily order them again. Randomly decided to check this spot out for their trivia night. Kids meals are a good size and the fries are delicious. Everything in fact was good. We got the veggie Pizza which was generous with yummy healthy veggies. Cheese wasn't overboard which I loved. Fresco wrap was also yummy. And stuffed perfectly with chicken and not drowning in sauce. Food, as always, was great! there were 12 of us and everyone got a different entree/app and drink and everyone was happy. We had gone for the Vintage Swing Band at 5 pm. No rain in the forecast and then it poured. Manager (Christian) saved us-found us 2 tables in a disaster of a night (for the band which is always wonderful). Front desk hostess granted us with a smile, then our server Kerry also had a warm, big smile. She was excellent, knowledgeable, fun and made the meal more enjoyable. Love this place! All the workers are so nice and thoughtful, they even gave my dog a treat. (A++ for dog friendly patio) we love the vibe and their patio is so nice, they usually have live music going on. They have daily specials that are worth your $$$. Their cocktails are sooooo good! We had an amazing first visit at Old Republic. We are not from Elgin so we drove quite a distance to get here. But our server and bartender named Andy, gave us outstanding customer service. He was friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome. We ordered the Mr Beef sandwich, it was dry and the meat was not seasoned. For the money my recommendation is to go to Portillo's or Buona Beef for a better tasting meal. Then the naughty nachos. What restaurant serves nachos without beans? The roasted corn was tasteless snd seemed to be just corn bunkers. The 'salsa' I requested was orange in color vs a true salsa. Place wasn't busy, entered at 3 for a late late lunch. Nice and chill just the way we like it. Ordered the beer nuggets....so extremely well done. The server asked if everything was ok since we stopped eating them and I said well, and she's like I figured they were burnt. Like what?!? Haha. Must happen often but she got us new ones and they were a bit better. Got the tater tots with both our meals. And let's just say, they cooked the tots like 2 hours ago...then just re-fried prior to serving us. We would try to bite down on them and literally no potatoes pieces inside! Funny story I was getting a drink at McDonalds next store, and I heard major club music and my original plan was go to Rosemont, I start driving past thinking I was going to Rosemont and then turned around and decided to check it out. I realize Julian Jumping Perez, DJ Spin, Bobby D and the B96 DJs were there and I was like this was the music I was intending to find tonight. We came on a Wednesday and I seriously considered the burrito dinner but settled on the Nashville Hit Chicken (major fan of spice). My wife decided to try the Elotes Shrimp Tacos. Our server was very attentive, the food came out fast and hot, and we did not waste any time when we got the food. I do not have a complaint for this place. The Nashville Hit was spicy enough to satisfy my spice palate and the coleslaw was great (there is also coleslaw on the sandwich). The Elotes Shrimp Tacos are great; not overcooked and really put together well. I can't say when I will be back but I can say I highly recommend the restaurant. So now I've been here twice & this place is pretty good. I've been here on a busy Saturday night & a slow Monday (on a holiday week). Both times they had live music. Coming here on a Saturday it will be loud, packed & will likely have a wait (long wait for outside), so be prepared. Service can sometimes take a little bit as well. If you are looking for a place with some action for you & your friends, this is the place. It has a nice outdoor courtyard with a stage & lights, a fun vibe. I got the Smoked Turkey Club Sandwich, it was so good. The turkey was piled high, fresh, and tasted great. They use Tillamook cheese & if you know, you know! We also got a burger, it was very good. Went there last night to see the LFC Disco show, which was supposed to go from 8 to 11. Got on the wait list but was unexpectedly dropped while third in line. The guy at the "door" was a complete smart ass when I asked politely asked why, which I didn't appreciate. Real douche bag and no way to treat customers. Got back on the wait list and got a table with a great view of the stage. Service and food was good. Food and drink prices are a bit on the expensive side (two double premium vodka's and seltzers = $23, $26 with tax) but I guess appropriate for the venue. Cover was $10 each even though we spent almost $100 on dinner (including dinner, a round of drinks and tip). The part that sucks is the band started around 8:20 pm and ended about 10:20 pm. We spent another $30 on a final round of drinks about 9:45, thinking we would be there until at least 11:15 pm. WTH. Ended up not finishing our last round. We spent close to $180 for the whole night. We sent a message to the establishment nicely asking why the band didn't go until 11 pm, and got nothing but a run around, ending up with the restaurant blaming LFC for the short set. I want to go back to OR. However, they need to treat customers better and stop the finger pointing when there is clearly a disconnect when booking the band. read more

Stopped by for dinner this afternoon around 4 pm. Hostess stated due to a large number of reservations she would need to take a walk and confirm availability. Added name to text list and we were at bar waiting but a bit later text came saying reservation withdrawn. Strange since she said she would find a table. As a result ordered at the bar. I had the beef sandwich and spouse had wings and rings. While my spouse meal was ok( enjoyed the garlic Parmesan) my beef sandwich was not great. Seasoning was light but beef was on the thicker side and rough as though it was boiled in tbe water. Small side of hot peppers was mostly celery. Prices were fine and beer selection was good and served cold but the beef and fries was not good. Service was quick but my water never refilled, never asked about ordering another drink and never came back to ask about food ( when they took away and only one portion of one half sandwich was eaten didn't inquire either). The folks next to us did get great service so must have been our less princely order. Overall think with many other options in area I will pass on a return and suggest if you go don't get the beef. read more

Kids meals do not include a beverage. The kids meal is $8.99-$9.99 and and a kids lemonade is an additional $2.99. Ridiculous

Everything could be improved at this bar. The burger was small, dry and pricey. Seemed like a frozen premade patty. The drinks had not a drop of alcohol in them. Had 3. Service was bad. We catered Old Republic for a birthday party and it was a hit. Everyone loved the food and the portions were large and perfect for a party. The Mac N Cheese was a crowd favorite and so was the beef. We ate leftovers for days. We have also dined in and it has been a similar experience - great food, nice staff and an awesome place to catch a game.
