We were having an annoying jamming problem with our front door latch. I contacted OPL based largely on their Yelp reviews. Went to their website, checked it out and made the call which went to voicemail. Almost immediately I got a call back and made an appointment. The OPL technician, Colin called en route to apologize that he was running a few minutes late. I said a half-hour delay was fine. He beat that by a few minutes. He was very pleasant, masked, and immediately set to work. Unfortunately, the old latch mechanism was toast--only lasted forty years! The best alternative was for him to do another quick job while I headed to Home Depot to see what was on offer. He was already back when I returned with the new set. In a few minutes he had it installed, keyed to match our other lock sets. Tidy worker, easily managed a credit card payment, and that was that. Shawn got all our our kicks re-keyed after purchase of our new house; he got it all done nicely. I was not present but my mother reported he was very efficient. My only issue is that the following day, I noticed that the front doorknob was extremely sticky and as a result the door did not latch or close reliably. We rang Shawn and he was able to return the next day to put in a new doorknob. I rather wish he'd alerted my mother to the faulty doorknob when we was there the first time, as then we could have asked him to replace it then and there, with no need for a later service call and service fee. I had an emergency with a vacation rental and Shawn was incredibly helpful. I had a tenant check out and another checking in a few hours later and the "smart" lock on the door wasn't working with the key. There I was on a deadline with the cleaning crew who get paid by the hour arriving any minute. I called the first locksmith that I found with a good rating on Yelp and Shawn arrived about 15 minutes later!! He worked the door until it opened, avoiding drilling into the lock and ruining it. Apparently, the "smart" locks can tend to dislodge some mechanism inside that makes it smart. Sounds pretty stupid to me. Shawn was pleasant and professional. What a lifesaver! I chose this locksmith because of the reviews. Had locks changed on 4 doors. One lock broke when he was working on it. I specifically said I wanted the replacement to be auto-locking like what he was replacing and that it needed to be the same finish. He replaced it with a handle that was not self-locking (he said he puts those in because it's cheaper). I got back to him and said that was not acceptable and it needed to be like what was there and like all the other doors. He came back then and replaced it with the right type of lock in a finish that doesn't match. I was charged $245 for the first trip and an additional $130 for the second trip (including a second $60 service to replace the lock that he broke the first time). read more
