I had two door locks swapped out and two keys keyed to the rest of the house. The total bill was $428.76. Usually, when a business sends a technician to your home, the trip cost is used for work done. Not here. They charge you $75 to come to your home--then $65 labor for each lock they replace; they took out and replaced six screws. Then add the cost of the lock, with markup. Usually, when a business plays these games, they have difficulty keeping the lights on. One understands that any business has overhead to cover, but you cannot run a business on the back of a single customer. Next time I need a locksmith, I'll give someone else a chance to abuse me. read more

When we scheduled the appointment to re-key the locks on our new house, they gave us a two-hour arrival window right up front and then on the day of our appointment, they arrived early! They re-keyed all seven locks quickly and professionally and noted the uniqueness of our front door lock. Went in on a Saturday requesting a duplicate key made for my motorcycle. Gave them the key I've been using and the special order blank one I got online. He went right to work, put it in the machine, handed it back to me, charged me 2 bucks and then I went outside. Popped the new key into the ignition...tur....well...it was supposed to have turned. Needless to say it didn't turn. Its supposed to turn...thats what keys do...disengage and turn. This one did not. Took the key back in, showed it to him and he put it back in the machine. He took it outside and put the key in...still no go. I noticed that the main line on the key was extended a lot further in the original so I inquired as to whether or not that could be the issue. Well turns out their machine couldn't extend that line, and frankly I'm not sure if it even really mattered. He took a hand grinder and tried to grind out the extra line space...and still no. So...he handed it back to me...said there wasn't anything more he could do and then dismissed me to work with another customer. No refund? No offer to create me a different duplicate? I realize it was only 2 bucks...but really? So basically now I have a key I ordered online that...is well trash. I have 3 other keys for this bike all that work and are duplicates so I know its not the ignition. I just wanted one with a special look to it. Oh well...if I decide to try again, it will be elsewhere. Basically the moral of the story is this...if you go in for key duplication...have the lock or device there with you to test it on if possible. Otherwise you might find yourself back at home with a dud. I'm not angry...i'm just disappointed in the experience... so, on the star rating ... 3 stars was "A-OK"...but I didn't feel like that situation really summed it up...so i went with the 2 star "Meh, i've experienced better". read more

I am not one to write reviews good or bad but felt in this case the people need to know to avoid this company at all costs. I have been using C&S locksmith for over 30 years and the new ownership is terrible. I would not recommend using them at all for any reason. I stopped in to get 6 of my own keys cut and the owner told me it would be 65.00 each to just cut keys for a few vehicles and I did not even need them programmed. When I asked why so much he proceeded to tell me because the machine cost him $10,000 and was extremely rude about it. Personally I am a business man myself know it costs to stay in business, however there is no need to be rude about it. I really don't care if the machine cost $100,000 that is not my problem and I did not tell you to buy it. When they were at the old location and the original owners owned C&S were polite and courteous always. This joker is a real asshole and should not be in business at all. I wish I had read the reviews first before trying to do business with this guy. Oh well live and learn. Didn't know things had gone down hill this much. Buyer beware!!!! read more

C & S Locksmiths are great! I bought a used car that only had one key fob (it's a keyless entry-type car). They charged me $225 (the car dealership quoted me $425) for a new fob. When the new fob came in, Carlos programmed the new fob and cut the new physical key. But he didn't stop there -- he recut the physical key in the old fob that didn't work. He actually had to shave down BOTH physical keys to make them work. AND he jury-rigged the old key fob so that the physical key would stay in it securely. Excellent service! read more

Really dreadful customer service at this place! I called ahead of time to see if they had the key blanks necessary for my 31 year old car. A man that answered the phone there verified that they did have the keys in stock, and that they were 12 dollars apiece. I had already called the local car dealer, who wants 25 apiece and they have to order them, so it takes a few days. So I drive across town to go to this C&S Locksmith with the expectation to get my keys made for half the price the dealer charges. Upon entering the store, a woman with dark hair was behind the counter and took several minutes to acknowledge me and come to the counter. I showed her my car keys that needed duplicating and she then informed me that these keys are 45 dollars apiece. I then told her that I just spoke to a gentleman at that business who told me they are 12 dollars and she says "That's impossible, they are actually 50 dollars apiece and I am giving you a 5 dollar break, or you can go to the dealer and pay 85" I then explained to her that I already called the dealer and the keys are 25 apiece for the actual factory key blank, not an aftermarket one like hers were. She said "we can call the dealer right now to verify, but the price is still 45 apiece" At this point I understood that there was no point arguing with this person, I bet she makes a healthy amount of money scamming people into thinking their key blanks are waaaaay more expensive than they actually are. It was a classic textbook case of "bait and switch", and I sure did not appreciate being told on the phone 1 price, then wasting my time driving out of the way to this place, only to be lied to and told another price which was 400% more! Of course I left without spending any money at this den of snakes. I would go out of my way to NOT do business with people like this, and you should too. read more
