If only we had known that an Archie Moore's was nearby, we could have been spared a poor meal. Yes, they were busy and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Several appeared to be new or poorly trained. Only at the very end of our meal did we interact with an experienced professional wait person. We could have put up with that if the food was good. It wasn't. The clam chowder had almost not taste of clams. My friend said that "Snow's canned chowder was better." She was also delivered steamed clams when she had ordered steamed mussels. it was switched but it took a while. I had nachos -- what a disappointment. It was mainly cheese. No salsa, a little guacamole and few greens on top. The "steak" was tiny cubes of dry, overcooked meat. For the $10 extra for the steak - I had barely half a cup of these almost inedible cubes. The nachos promised tomatoes -- the few I saw were diced like the pre-cut tomatoes from the supermarket. All in all not a good experience. read more

Had a lovely dinner this evening. Service was just.perfect. One server Kim looked to be serving the entire restaurant including those dining in the bar as well as the brave couple eating outside under the heater, along with a runner and busser. Kim's demeanor was so pleasant as were all the other staff working tonight which just made our now rare dinner out so enjoyable. The food was delicious. Excellent onion soup. My strip special was cooked perfectly and was melt-in-your mouth tender. Scallops and mussels were cooked perfectly too. Laid back atmosphere made you feel at home. Just really nice. I other night we, three of us, went for dinner I ordered a hamburg med rare . The burger came very well done with no flavor . It was thick but small with no flavor and dry . Oh boy The first time I went here was june 2020. For context I am vegan so I ordered the veggie burger (which is no longer available) it was pretty good and they served it on multigrain toast. I was very satisfied. The only thing I thought was weird was when I asked my server if the veggie burger was vegan prior to ordering, she said something along the lines of "we can't say that it is" but she then told me they used Dr. Praegers so after searching the web I knew I could eat that. I then returned here in October and the veggie burger was still on the menu. I was glad to see it and I ordered that with vegetables as a side. When the veggie burger came I instantly noticed it was a different brand and just looked very odd. I wasn't even sure if it was vegan so I didn't eat it. Luckily they noticed and took it off the bill. Today I returned with my family and we had a much bigger party this time. The food still came out pretty quick which is always nice. However there was no veggie burger which was disappointing for me and my vegetarian sister. When my mom booked the reservation she asked if they would have a vegan option and they assured us we can veganize practically anything on the menu with a simple swap. This time I ordered the garden salad and asked if they could make me pasta with just marinara and vegetables with absolutely no cheese or any dairy. The server repeated back "no cheese" as she took down my order. When my salad came out it was extremely covered with dressing (I guess I should have asked for it on the side) and there was a pile of onion slices on top. I couldn't find any tomato or cucumbers so I asked for them to bring some out since it states the salad has it on their menu. As they were getting the tomato and cucumbers I tossed around the salad and found a single slice of tomato and cucumber at the bottom. All the tomato's and cucumbers for the salad were cut as if they were for a hamburger. Meaning I had to slice them down smaller myself. This was very odd as the nachos other people at my table ordered had plenty of diced tomatoes... My pasta came and bam. Cheese all on top :| of course. I told the server and she seemed pissed off as if it were my fault or as if I didn't make it clear enough that I can't consume dairy. She took it back and came back with what I ordered. Who knows if they just scraped it off or if they actually did the right thing and prepared a new dish. I wouldn't say this place is vegan friendly. There are many other places in Fairfield with vegan options that I think people should go to if that is what you are looking for. However I had no say in coming here all three times considering I am not the one who made these plans but I just wish they were a little more accommodating! Especially because when searching on Yelp I see they have "vegan options" listed. My sister enjoyed their sangria though. read more

Went here last year in February. The food was pretty good but a bad service can cancel all of that out. The bartender was very rude and rushed us out before their standard closing time. Not sure if he had somewhere to be either as the place was still decently packed. My buddy goes there all the time but told me that after that horrendous experience it would a whole lot less. It's a good place to sit, inside or outside, and catch up after work. There are enough little tables and nooks for a private conversation, and usually enough friendly people sitting at the bar to meet a new friend. At Happy Hour (3-6pm), some drinks are buy one get one. They charge you for the first one and give a wooden coin for your next drink. You can save these coins for another day or use them immediately. Periodically there are drink specials and new mixes on their big blackboard. Call for their daily specials. Right now, it's half priced wine bottles on Tuesdays and $1 oysters and clams on Wednesdays. The Happy Hour food is well-priced, but hit or miss. The $1 oysters were recommended and tasted fresh. Check the oyster for shell bits before you eat it. I've enjoyed their pulled pork sliders. My dinner companion said his beef slider bun was hard, like it was reheated or stale. If you absolutely can't wait until dinner, it'll do. Dinner options might be better than the Happy Hour food. read more

The hostess, Ava J, makes this place unbearable. Horrible, haughty, and rude attitude. The food is ok but they shuld train their staff. Obnoxiousness never sells, but there was no manager at all on site, so perhaps they just don't care. I'd skip it and eat somewhere that they care about how customers are treated. read more

Last evening, I took my husband to OPT for his birthday. We started with an excellent salad of arugula, beets and goat cheese. His entree was paella, an enormous dish which he said was the best he had ever had. It was so big, we took half of it home. I had the filet mignon with Bernaise sauce on the side. Delicious! Tonight's bartenders were amazing John and Rachel. They were personable and made us feel very welcomed. The food was great too the angel hair shrimp. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because since I've been going there I would notice several times when staff would Walk by food scraps, napkins, and such in the middle of the floor. Sooo.... I came here YEARS ago and had a bad meal. And never went back, until the other day. And dang, they now have a SERIOUSLY fine burger. Honestly right now it's in my personal running for best burger in Fairfield. My mate enjoyed his pulled pork tacos very much too. The atmosphere was chill and convivial in the bar area where we sat at a high-top and watched some baseball. The server and hostess were cheery, and oh yeah the popcorn shrimp were pretty darn fine too. It's like finding a new restaurant in town right under my nose this whole time! Bravo, OPT. The guy manager or owner is great. Very friendly. The happy hour food is delicious. The chicken buffalo or sloppy joes or pizza are great!! The happy hour prices are ok. A bit expensive. OPT is A-OK! I come here rather frequently, as it is the most American, Burger-friendly and REAL place of the 5 or 6 restaurants I routinely frequent in Fairfield... and good LORD, there are LOTS now! OMG Have had most of the dishes on the menu, they are consistently high quality and well prepared, I mean, it ain't TOP CHEF, but it's definitely well made, the chef is culinary school trained and several cuts ABOVE what I normally associate with a Tavern as bar food, or Tavern fodder. So the name is a bit misleading. This is a popular family oriented restaurant with a large bar area attached, so you can have it have it both ways. The Bar and the more formal dining are well-separated, so there isnt a noise problem and the bar menu is similar, but more on the small plate side I was surprised to see that many prices had actually been LOWERED when i just was there, the week after the Halloween Nightmare Snowscape Thingee... I don't recall seeing that... well... EVER... Anyway, its a nice clean place, well decorated and inviting, has live music and a totally full house on Thursday and is becoming a community destination, which is pretty gratifying to see after the previous two ( or is it three?) restaurants in this space were demoralizing and demoralized hell holes. A group of friends gathered here for a midweek dinner. It was my first visit and I'll be back. Food was wonderful. We ordered seafood appetizer to share and I had NY Strip steak. It was cooked as ordered and very good. Waitstaff was very personable and friendly. Attentive when we wanted, and willing to give us some space. We spent well over an hour and felt welcome. I couldn't finish my steak and was amazed when I got home to see they packaged it so nicely, including steak, some extra fries and one of the edible flowers for garnish, even in my takeout box.
