We were seated right away on the dining side away from the bar area which was really nice . Greeted by our server staff. Food was fresh. We ordered a small plate calamari which was amazing would have liked a larger portion but it was still good for the 2 of us. Chipotle dipping sauce and marinara on the side , chipotle was a nice touch . Ordered a special (burger). I did inquire that it's not a patty which it wasn't . Made to perfectly. The other dishes offered half portion and full size which my daughter opted for the half portion . Something she said all restaurants should offer . Definitely will return when we are in the area

My friend and I wanted to eat a nice leisurely lunch outside on a gorgeous day before heading to a late afternoon movie next door. Although we arrived just shy of the 12pm opening, they welcomed us to sit and order drinks. The outside dining area is lovely with lots of flowers and plants, and a relaxed atmosphere. Our waitress brought water and took our drink order right away. We were in no rush to order which I think may have aggravated our server as she seemed annoyed, grimacing, and then aloof for the remainder of our visit, which definitely put a damper on our experience. My friend chose the wedge salad with steak and I decided on the Brie Croquette salad. I am not usually a fan of fruit in my salad, but the apples and strawberries melded perfectly with the arugula and candied almonds. The dressing was light and flavorful and the Brie croquette was a creamy and crunchy delight. I also enjoyed the crostini with fig jam. The wedge salad with added streak was tasty and both salads were good portions. The dessert menu looked great and we would love to try next time. The bathroom was immaculately clean. On street parking only.

Had a great night with family and it was nothing less than fabulous! Sat outside and it was beautiful. They have heaters, in case it is cool. The food, excellent! Clams on the half shell, juicy, fresh. Had zuppa di pesce and it was amazing! Even had scallops and a nice piece of salmon! Others had the mussels, spaghetti with clams, shrimp and tuna tar tar. Everyone's food looked good and all said it was great. Service was friendly, helpful and the drinks were good too. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We have always dined in the downtown Fairfield area and have seen this place but for some strange reason we just never dined at this restaurant. Definitely glad we decided to give them a shot. The restaurant is very nice with windows everywhere. For starters we had the oyster special. We always enjoy having oysters. These were a bit small in size, but they were good. For dinner I had the scallops served with veggies and my girlfriend had the beet salad. Both of our meals were delicious. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the veggies were excellent. Sometimes when you order veggies they are very bland and simple but these were cooked with plenty of flavor. The beet salad was plentiful and very good. We enjoyed our dinner and will definitely not overlook this place again.

Really enjoyed our family night out at the @old in Fairfield. The food was very good. We started with the fresh oysters , French Onion Soup and Nachos. Highlight of dinner was the Seafood Paella; good portion of seafood and meats with a nice little spice to it. Kids enjoyed their dinner as well. The crème brûlée and apple tart desserts were delicious. Although they were very busy last night, the food came out in a timely manner. The service was fantastic! Without a reservation, the hostess accommodated us as quickly as possible with a table of 4 outside on the patio. With the heaters, it was very comfortable sitting outside. Our waiter was excellent, was attentive and served everything in a timely manner. Very well done. With so many more delicious options on the menu and the great service we experienced.... We will certainly be back. Highly recommend stopping by for a bite. Buon Appetito! #vinoandeatswithantonio

Happy hour everyday at the bar from 3-6pm: 2 for 1 drinks (per person) and great bar menu.

We had a private party with about 15 upstairs, very nice up there and we had our own bartender too! The drinks here were very good, I had the espresso martini and tried a berry cosmo. We had a variety of apps like steak tips, buff cauliflower and calamari. The steak tips and calamari were tasty. The major miss was the French onion soup, it had so much bread and cheese that it actually had little to no broth. It almost tasted like I was eating mashed potatoes in a soup bowl. For dinner I got the strip steak, it was well cooked and had good flavor. It came with mashed potatoes but should have also come with a veggie side. For dessert I got creme brûlée, it was very good.. mine was very good. Others in our party had them come in a soup bowl though! Weird! We really liked our server/bartender.

This past Friday, I went to the Indiana Jones premiere with my girlfriend Elizabeth and her parents. Prior to the viewing, we went to grab dinner at Old Post Tavern. We started off the dinner with the popcorn shrimp and the soft pretzels. Both of these small plates were delicious. I highly recommend the popcorn shrimp. Elizabeth and her parents got cocktails that they thoroughly enjoyed. After they finished their cocktails, her parents got wine with dinner. For my main course I got a half order of the lobster ravioli. I found it to be the perfect size for my dinner, and it was a savory dish. Overall, this restaurant had great atmosphere, service, and food. What more can you really ask from a restaurant? God Bless America and God Bless Food!

Great service, amazing food. You have to get the Buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer. One of my favorites that I keep coming back for!

My second time dining at 29 Markle Court yesterday! When…read morefirst I was introduced to this restaurant: an impromptu visit with a group, and we shared small plates, family style. It was delicious! This time, I reserved a table for four, including guests who were up to an adventurous evening. The place was hopping! A Friday evening fun atmosphere and a beautiful bar that reminded me of a Paris restaurant. We were seated at a great table with banquettes in a corner of the front dining room. Our waitperson was excellent- energetic, informed of the menu, friendly & interactive, I believe her name was Shamira. We received great recommendations for dishes on the menu accommodating certain preferences. Following Cocktails - from the usual order of Scotch, to the " Crimson" spicy, indeed. The "Wanderer" imbiber said she could sip them all night. I, being mostly just a wine drinker, ordered from the "unusual wines" - a delicious white wine from Languedoc named "Picpoul De Pinet, Feline Jourdan", which paired very well with both courses. Based on my enthusiasm we all shared a bottle with our Main Course! Total alignment. We shared Caesar salads, which were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their selection of a main course: Halibut with corn risotto, Shrimp & Grits with spicy red sauce (just right spicy), My dish was Mussels in ginger & lemongrass red Curry, paired with grilled bread for soaking up that sauce, Yum!; a Whole Red Snapper with Mole sauce for my husband - most adventurous diner of the evening! We stretched ourselves to order two desserts: Crème Brûlée and Goat Cheesecake! Sublime. On departing the Restaurant, we were thanked for dining by the Proprietor, Wesley. We had an inspiring conversation about Bridgeport's future. A memorable evening.

Tucked in downtown Bridgeport with easy street…read moreand garage parking nearby, 29 Markle Court walks in with serious style -- the decor is chic, the atmosphere is warm and cool at the same time, and it genuinely feels like somewhere you'd expect to find in a much bigger city. Drinks first: my slightly dirty martini was made exactly right. My friend went with cosmo and it was equally on point. Whoever is behind that bar has their act together. Then the food happened. We started with grilled bread with an EVOO, agave, and chile dip -- sounds simple, ate like a statement. The char on the bread, the heat and sweetness of that dip. Good sign of things to come. Main event: shrimp and grits. Guinea flint grits, spicy red sauce, sage, stock. I don't say this lightly -- this is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The grits were creamy and rich, the sauce had real depth and heat, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The whole bowl just worked on every level. Dessert: goat cheesecake with pistachio dust and berry compote. Tangy, creamy, not too sweet, and that pistachio dust on top was a perfect finish. We cleared the plate.

Whatever reason, I thought I did a review on this place years ago, as I've been coming here for…read moreyears, and I always have given it 4 1/2 five star rating because the food was fantastic and they had by far the best clam chowder ever. It was a type of place that I would say don't judge a book by its cover, it was a sneaky good place with incredible and creative seafood options. The lobster pot pie was delicious, the lobster quesadilla out of this world, the steak tips, very tender, oyster, Rockefeller, sinfully addictive... a lot of great offerings. Came back after a long time of not being here back in the fall and had a wonderful experience with my girlfriends. Came back today, and it was absolutely catastrophic! I don't know if it's under new management, but the whole place was chaotic, the service was awful, and the food was terrible... The clam chowder wasn't clammy in flavor like it used to be, it it was heavily laden with bacon bits, which, if you're a bacon fan is all the way for you, but I'm getting clam chowder, not bacon chowder. I ordered the mac & cheese lobster which was described as a creamy mac & cheese with lobster and truffle oil... There was not one single sign of truffle oil on this dish at all. It actually did have generous amounts of lobster, but it was far from creamy and the pasta itself was dry. My other half had the fried clams, they rate as some of the worst clams we have ever tried, and the portion was extremely skimpy, and the clam composition was mostly that grizzle! ( the attached photo is the dish as it was delivered to us... It had not yet been touched. )The fries were ice cold, and to boot what made it worse, no signs of life from our server...hello, hello...I felt like Adele! The gentleman who took our order was busy going outside, taking care of the tables outside went by us countless times and didn't even pay mind to us-you've thought we were invisible! The other waitresses that walked by, couldn't even understand body language, maybe they did, but didn't care because it wasn't their table, but we sat there for 40 minutes and no one ever came to check on us. Never had this issue with this place before, which makes me think that it's really under new management, given how the food was, and the lack of care of the personnel. I doubt I will be coming back here again given the experience, and I never do this, but for the first time ever I didn't leave a tip because they were not deserving of a tip. We finished our sodas, we were thirsty, and we were never offered anything more to drink. Why - because again no one came to check on us. When I finally called one of the waitresses over, she came and asked if I want to wrap up the food and I told her I needed a container and I pointed to my husband's food and I told her that the clams were god awful and why they were bad and unfortunately, we were neglected by our server and all other staff for that matter. She told me she would take the clams off the bill and she would come back with a container for my dry lobster mac & cheese. Five minutes goes by no sign of the waitress 10 minutes goes by no sign of the waitress or my container, finally I call the person who looked like she was manning the floor and checked on all other tables and how they were doing except for OURS Was there something wrong with us? We weren't dressed like bums, we sat in the corner, we didn't have extra sets of eyes, we didn't have an extra arm attached to our body, we were just regular, typical people, but she ignored us. Bill came out to $33.50 for bacon chowder, dried lobster mac & cheese, and two Ginger ales... Never again! Honestly, the way we were treated was shameful, hopefully they learn from this lesson and they do better... No one deserves this, especially with the cost of food these days. It took us 50 minutes to get here, and we made it a trip because we've had great experiences in the past, but seeing that all three dishes were disappointing makes me believe that this is not the same place that it used to be.
