As soon as you walk in, the treat you pita bread with a vinegary dip and a lentil soup. We liked the lentil soup, but we found that the pita bread got dry and hard as soon as it got a little colder. We ordered the Shish Tawook chicken and the Dajaj Mishwi which come with rice and hummus. We liked the chicken in both dishes, but they were a little heavy on the garlic sauce which dominates over the other flavors and it also make both plates looks almost identical although they do taste differently. The portion size was large enough for dinner, though we found that the dajaj mishwi plate wasn't warm enough and the rice was a little saggy. We both preferred the shish Tawook chicken. We found that it was a bit on the pricy side for what it was though and we also found that the restaurant wasn't bright enough, but that's just our preference. At last we liked the service and we also noticed an excellent rating from the health inspector. read more

Med kitchen was a nice find in Bellevue. We tried the Kofta Kebab and the Veggie Lover. The portions were very large - we really should have shared one entree. Since we were visiting from out of town, we could not take the leftovers with us - a real shame. And it came with few rubbery hard pieces of meat, bland yellow rice and a ton of sautéed red onion. I think they should rename the shawarma to Onion Shawarma. The cauliflower appetizer is pretty good and worth getting. Falafel was just ok but it was also my first time trying it anywhere. Farmer's Dish (chicken wings) was ok too. The chicken was pretty tender and easy to pull off. The Lebanese salad was no bueno. It's just romaine lettuce and croutons or at least that's what it felt like. For 5 people, we got one appetizer, one salad, and two entrees. We had leftovers that could've fed one more person. Prices: Entrees are roughly in the higher teens. Appetizers are around $10. We ordered from the Kirkland location a couple of nights ago and picked it up. There is something for everyone at this place. Our Vegan/Vegetarian daughters were very happy with their meals while three of us ordered the Chicken Shwarma plates. Our son had the Algerian Chicken. Each meal had the starter soup that is always delish and each had the rice, hummus, and veggie mixture in it. This place always smells so wonderful when you go near or into it. We got a "taste" of that today when we opened our to go containers at home. Wonder flavors and exotic scents. We will always return to this place. I have tried this restaurant three times always been unhappy. Each time I order two meals so charged about $50. Usually taking home a big stack of boxes. The most recent order I was double charged for spanikopita dinner but I had asked only for 2 appetizers. I should have called to complain but I disliked the spanikopita totally. I expecting a Greek spanikopita and instead it seems to be breaded than it comes on a bed of something mushy, hummus? I did like the lamb, although it was very tough. Rice was good. This place might've been one of the worst meals I've had at a restaurant (especially paying $75 after tip for two meals and an appetizer + tip.) They give pita bread and sauce as a starter. The pita bread was stale and tasted like it was Winco branded bread. The sauce was so garlic-y it was spicy (I love garlic and this was ridiculous) Appetizers: The falafels were dry, cold in the middle, and tasted like they were store bought as well. I could get better falafels from Trader Joe's. Main Entrees: We ordered the Beef and Lamb Shawarma. The portions were ridiculous. We both took maybe a few bites out of our meals, and got to go boxes. The two meals filled 4 to go boxes. To sum this meal up, it tasted like Uncle Bens mexi-rice with dry meat + Chipotle fajitas (but worse) on top. It was drizzled with Tahiti sauce which did not have any flavor. I really dislike writing bad reviews especially for small businesses but I hope the owner reads this review, and makes changes. I was surprised there were so many 5 star reviews and that the business has been open since 1981. Suggestions: 1. Reduce the portion size by half. We had 4 boxes of take out for 2 meals. Nobody wants to eat that much food in a sitting 2. Cut the price to ~$15/17 vs $20-22. 3. Re-do the food. The menu tasted store bought and microwaved. 4. Increase the music volume at the restaurant. Based on past experiences, Bellevue has not had very good food, but this place is a good exception. They have huge portions that are very vegan friendly options at a pretty decent price. We asked for a few substitutions and they were accommodating. They give you a soup and pita bread with dip for free at the beginning of your meal. Parking is tough but worth it. read more

Let me just start by saying that the only reason I cannot give them five stars is because they do not have good beer selection and sadly, not even one beer on draft. As a huge beer fan, that is simply something I cannot forgive... Aside the flaw with the beer situation though, this place is one of my favorite spots around Bellevue to dine. Whether it is lunch or dinner. Everything is always perfect. I keep coming back and will continue doing so. I have tried all of their vegetarian dishes and my favorite is the veggie couscous lover. The plate is so huge that you will have another meal of it for tomorrow's lunch or dinner. They also serve you a soup and then some bread with garlic sauce to dip in. It is a pure heaven! Both of these appetizers are absolutely delicious and free of charge. For the amount of food you get here, this restaurant is very inexpensive, yet the atmosphere is great and the food absolutely delicious. The service is whole another thing. I think I enjoyed everything just a tad more than my husband did. While the food was fantastic, everything was covered in sauces that had a lot of tang. I thought that was great, but my husband didn't love it. It did make the food taste a little monotonous. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful spread of food we got. You seriously get so much food before you even order. My go to dishes are: -Mezza Tray appetizer (nice variety of all sorts of appetizers, dips and veggies, and Zahrah!!!!) -Zahrah Tray (if you don't get the Mezza Tray, get the zahrah appetizer on its own, this deep-fried cauliflower topped with tahini is unreal and nothing I've ever had before) -Farmer's Dish entree (wings!) Looking at the prices alone, it may seem a little pricier than most mediterranean places. However, once you see the portions you realize you are actually getting a steal. Pricey food, but the portions are big. My cousin and I came and got a chicken dish and we couldn't finish. We also ordered the falafels (don't recommend. Not very fluffy or tasty. And only 4 for $10. Chickpeas aren't worth that much in my opinion). The free lentil soup they gave us when we sat down was good. Wish I had seconds of that! Also, the pita and dipping sauce is amazing. Sad that the free stuff was delicious and the stuff we ordered didn't live up to what we started with. Customer service is also great here. Pretty good food and decent service, though they lean heavily on acidic marinades (they even serve their marinade with pita bread as an appetizer) that are so acidic, in fact, that what herbs there are disappear almost completely in the flavor profiles of their meat dishes. Unbalanced entrees of meat and rice with no vegetables at all (except the occasional bit of onion or tomato) make this a less-than-healthy choice for lunch. Oh, and their "Turkish" coffee is just regular coffee with some orange flower water and syrup. Not the real deal at all. Give it a pass. The interior of the restaurant is kept adequately clean, and I like the cloth napkins. But the 80's dropped tile ceiling with horrid fluorescent lights, ugly window treatments and overly loud music mar what little atmosphere there is in this stuffy space.
