As I browsed the mens wear, my 9-year old Black daughter remained exceptionally well-behaved and within my eyesight. Then I heard a Fjallraven Burlington staff member ask my daughter if she were "by herself." So I walked away from browsing out into the open and asked the staff member "Sav (?)" if I could help with anything. The staff member said, "This is not a children's store. You need to keep your kid with you." The Fjallraven Burlington's staff member traumatized my daughter. No one should be treated like this. Unacceptable.

I had been thinking about buying a Fjallraven Kanken backpack (you know the one, the adorable square backpack that looks like a little kid's bag) for awhile so it was neat to see them in person and all the different colors. They also have lots of outdoor gear, other backpacks, apparel, and a sale area in the lower level. We stopped in twice during our long weekend in Burlington and the employees were really helpful and friendly, offering to show us any color of bag we could imagine and explaining some of the features of some of the products. The store is large and fully stocked with anything you need to be a cool Swedish hipster in nature! The products they sell are pretty pricey but the backpack we got is guaranteed for life and is water-resistant due to the beeswax coating. I really enjoyed checking out this shop and was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of the staff.

Instead of offering helpful advice or even basic courtesy, they were dismissive and rude, as if I were wasting their time. But that's not all--this shop is gouging prices to an absurd degree. I understand small businesses have to mark things up, but the prices here are blatantly exploitative. Some items are being sold at double their market value, and their singles are so overpriced it's laughable. They clearly prey on people who don't know better, which is disgusting in a community that's supposed to be about passion and inclusivity. If you're looking for a friendly, fair shop to support, go literally anywhere else. This place doesn't deserve your time, money, or energy.

I am still riding 2 Marinoni bikes I bought in 1987 and 88 and I consistently race on them and have won MI State Masters Track Championships for 2011 and 2012 on my Marinoni Pista they fitted and had made for me 1988. They provided track components and wool bike clothing when such things were not popular or to be seen in any other shops. Dave always looked out for me and provided Italian products that suited my taste and budget. The Winooski Bicycle Shop was also the hub to serious racers. Dave and Gene were real mentors and inspired me with their vast cycling and racing experience. They saw me on my way to the Montreal Olympic Velodrome for the first time and evan attended my races. The whole store looks new, very bright, organized and clean. We spent a while looking through the vast collection of leather goods. I picked a leather vest for myself. My wife picked a leather belt. My daughter picked a pair of sparkly blue leather boots for herders. The prices were little higher as expected for quality leather items. The associates were very friendly. At the checkout they signed up us for a free rewards account. I received a 15% discount coupon email towards my next purchase. Hi! What a great…read morelittle antique shop! My Mom and I stopped in and were warmly greeted and free to look at their nice collection of vintage pieces, furniture and glass. Very cool spot, just across from Maplefields in Georgia, Vermont. I'll be back for Christmas shopping:)
