Hi again We know this place and we know the people the first…read morereview was an about and they were right Last owners were rude lazy and heavy smokers But Since then we have had 4 good meals from this place Nice and tidy, fresh food and had a lick of paint The view outside is one of the best around in the summer or spring time right on pelsall canal If your local well worth a punt not the busiest pub you'll find nor the cheapest but different There's a lot worse in the way of pubs in walsall than this one

3 of us had a meal here a couple of weeks ago, the place was pratically empty save for half a dozen…read morefolks round one end of the bar. It took over 5 minutes waiting just for someone to come to the bar and then only when one of the obvious regulars called someone in who had been smoking outside!! We ordered a drink from this person who was rather pungent from the smoking and then were shown to a table in the eating area which was totally empty. We previewed the menu looked reasonably interesting pub fayre it was then back to the bar and wait for someone to appear again (this is attrocious theres no way they were busy probably off for another smoke) another couiple of minutes wait and I ordered the food. Which when it arrived looked as if it had been thrown on the plate which spoiled it a little as the food wasn't too bad, obviously not top quality ingredients but they made the best of what they had so average fayre. Unfortunately it didn't get any better the half empty plates were left with us for quite sometime which basically put us off any sweet.. we didn't even bother with another drink as I doubt I'd have been able to stand the wait. paid the bill (a little on the pricey side for average fayre) Wouldn't visit again and certainly wouldn't recommend it the staffing is poor and the food just average and thus it's easy to assume that the management of the place is somewhat lacking.

This is a welcoming pub that holds a number of themed events, and encourages local participation…read moresuch as voting for your favourite ale to make a comeback. I visited this pub on St. Patricks Day for dinner, where they were having a Irish themed pub quiz later that evening and were playing Irish music in the background whilst we ate. There are comfortable sofa's that you sink right into, and booth areas for a more cosy feel. The menu is varied and they have a number deals throughtout the week such as a Grill night with a meal and drink from £5.99. I ordered the ribeye steak (meduim, rare) so was disappointed when it arrived well done but netherless it was tasty. The potato wedges were very tasty as were the onion rings and not greasy like onion rings can tend to be. There is ample parking on site, and an outdoor seating area which is welcomed in the Summer months. Pay this pub a visit you will not be disappointed.

They have changed the menu to the summer menu. Some old favourites on there but I noticed Teriyaki chicken with noodles is new and they have taken our favourite dessert creme brûlée off the menu. :-( I decided to have something off their set menu which is £8.99 for two courses and £10.99 for three. We went got three. Starter - breaded mushrooms - they were good as usual and very hot. Main - Chicken & mushroom with creamy mash and veg - our mains took a while to come but when it came it was tasty and hot. The puff pastry top was very very flaky but a little over done just under burnt. I was hungry so didn't want to complain. Dessert - mini white chocolate pot with tea/coffee - a little sweet and sickly but levelled out with the cream. Overall the food was good and the service. May wait until the menu changes before returning. Not bad for the price.
