Edit: this review is for Chelo's, not Old Danny's Cocina. I didn't know the name of the restaurant had changed until this past weekend. I've gotten tacos from here on a few occasions. I heard good things about their carne guisada so that's what I normally order and have been pleased with the tacos in the past visits. Then not long ago I had ordered tacos to go along with a small lemonade. When I got home I had opened the tortilla to pour salsa on my carne guisada tacos and could not help but notice how pink some of the meat looked. I picked them out of the tacos and threw them in the trash. Before I did that I took a picture of the undercooked meat and showed it to a friend of mine and she even said it looked gross. I'm already aware of ecoli bacteria poisoning as a result of consuming undercooked and pink meat. This is an unforgivable offense. read more

We used to drive an hour for the tacos here. This is the second bad visit. The first time, we ordered via their google website, and then arrived to a closed store. They said the website had nothing to do with them. A month later- the website is still connected to their Google listing. Today we got tacos and chilaquiles and were totally disappointed. If you want some fresh, old school homemade breakfast, Tex-mex food...this is the bomb.com. Everything taste so fresh so if you're in a big hurry, then go to a fast food facility. Worse tacos ever !!!! I didn't want to wait in line to get roys tacos I should've waited. Ordered my tacos got home to see the tortillas are packaged oh hell no. Tortillas weren't even heated up all the way still rubbery just nasty !!! I called to see why they didn't have homemade tortillas any more cause they did before. "The manger in charge " said with every thing going on they stop in other words it was like o well no one has complaint. It's name begged me to go in as I drove by: "Old Danny's Cocina". Huh?!? I walked in and had to snake around a mariachi. Not a mariachi band. A mariachi guitar playing independent contractor who was earning some dough entertaining the lunch crowd. Feeling the outsider, I slinked into the corner booth. Chips and salsa were promptly served. "Una bebida?" "Una coca, por favor." This was a neighborhood joint that didn't stand on ceremony. In the adjacent booth, of the one two less-than-gracefully aging Latina motorcycle mamas turned to me. "My sister, she wants to sit with you." They laughed like hoarse schoolgirls. "OK, but you might start to get jealous of her", I playfully responded and they hooted and giggled. My Coke came, my order was placed, I flirted sporadically with the tatooed Leather Skin Twins and the mariachi made the rounds for some propinas. After he left, the place was not nearly as lively. My tacos were very good - and freaking huge. The carne guisada was quite tender, and the tortillas were fresh. I don't know if they were made at Old Danny's or what, but they were less than a few hours old. I'd go back even if the food and atmosphere weren't as good as they were. I still have questions. This place was recommended to me by a friend. Well my friend is on to something amazing. The tortillas are the star. Homemade, soft and Large. The carne guisada co-stars. Meat is tender and gravy is just right. The chilaquiles done right, the chips stayed crispy throughout the time it took me to eat a good amount of the carne, before adding the chilaquiles to the large taco. Mixing both together just felt so right and tasted so good. The tortilla held up too. read more

When I want tacos too big to eat without a fork and knife I go either to Rolando's Super Tacos or Old Danny's. If you're hungry enough to eat a passenger jet you can't go wrong with either place. However, both also have regular size tacos not requiring you to wear super-elastic pants. read more

Been coming here for years despite the taco place RIGHT next door. This is our "MUST do stop" for breakfast, the regular sized tacos are STUFFED and very reasonable depending on your choice of taco. If you're super hungry, get the large, but they ARE HUGE! Lol read more

First time here. My wife said it was good and she has been going for years. She was right, it was delicious. Some of the best puffy tacos I've ever had actually. The rice was a bit on the cold side but the taste was there. 10 Tables with customers and only one waitress... It was kind of annoying because I could here the waitress complaining to some of her customers. You just don't do that.. at least I wouldn't. But I understood that she could have used some help. Came for breakfast with the kids and husband,had a great environment and great waitstaff very attentive,we had huevos rancheros they were great, loved the salsa with chips,loved the salsa verde, I didn't even know they had Super Big tacos but two of the kids orderd two each and couldn't finish them. Put in a pick up order through door dash. Went through the drive thru to pick it up and the owner was super rude to me when he suggested I go park and go inside to pick up the order. I told him I had three toddlers in car seats and that I would not be able to. He then said to just park in the front and he would take my order to me. Ten minutes later, I still hadn't received my food. So I went back through the drive thru and a girl came out saying the same thing. I told her it had already been over ten minutes and that I wasn't gonna go park for another minute. My order was 5 tacos! No custom orders just plain tacos. She asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and knowing it was the old man, I said yes. He proceeded to give me my order saying that my quesadilla was what took so long and for me to never go back again! I check my bag and only three tacos were in there. As a local to the area, I have been eating at this great cocina for many years. It has almost become a tradition in our family to have breakfast or lunch or both on Sunday. The menue has a wide variety of Mexican/ Tex-mex meals that will have everyone pleased. The prices are very decent and you will get what you pay for if not then more. The atmosphere and the waitresses are very pleasent. The food is always made fresh and comes to your table or car window in timely manner. The one thing that I will always love about this place is the "grande" size tacos which are very filling. Breakfast is served all day for all those folks who sleep in and wake up to wanting breakfast.
