It was definitely way better than any food prepared at my own university. And looking at the current menus offered by Ann's Catering, it also looked like their pricing was extremely reasonable and competitive too! I especially enjoyed the fresh focaccia bread on the lunch sandwiches, and the quinoa and wild rice salad was a revelation. I originally only took one small scoop, and only because it looked healthy. But then I went back for seconds and took leftovers home because it was so darn tasty! And the chicken satay and beef teriyaki sticks were also really delicious and tender! We had more than enough food for everyone to be well-fed, but there weren't many leftovers either, which I think is a testament to how tasty everything was. I would not hesitate to work with Ann's Catering if I am ever looking for a catering company provider in the East Bay.

I sent a request via Yelp app and Marsha suggested I send an email. This was on a Sunday and the event was in 2 weeks ! When I didn't hear anything via email or a call I called the office and spoke to Ben who apologized for the lack of communication and he would respond via email, which he did a few hours later. After several emails from Ben we were able to settle on a menu in just a few days! We were looking for a Hawaiian fusion themed menu and Ben & his staffto came up with a great menu. W Some of our many items that was a huge hit with our guests were Vietnamese vegan rolls, miso glazed black code, a toss green salad with Edamame and Asian dressing, crab deviled eggs, scallops spoon, chimichuri steak crostini, short ribs skewers, Asian style lamb meatballs, and dessert of fruit cups and mini cupcakes were perfect. There was a few dishes that wasn't as successful but overall everyone enjoyed the food. We had pre arranged to have someone to meet the catering staff early for setup but due to unknown delays they did show up until an hour before the service started which also ment they were rushed to setup the food but they did a good job to get the hot and cold foods setup before the end of the service. Overall they did a good job and the food excellent but arriving late to the event and poor timing to replenish empty dishes was disappointing also dessert wasn't served until most guest departed. We enjoyed working with Ben and appreciated the communication once it was established.

I never imagined how the risers would change the look and feel of the dishes on the tables. Just gorgeous and so much more appealing! I loved not worrying about serving utensils! The name plates describing each platter was icing on the cake! The food was spectacular! I was stunned by the number of people who complimented the vegan and vegetarian options. Both vegans and vegetarians were tickled pink about our thoughtfulness to spike out specific dishes for them and our carnivores couldn't get enough of it as well. Simply put, my guests told me they never had vegan food that actually tasted delicious!     All in all, I love the hors d'oeuvres and mini dessert meals! The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. Today we took a twenty-minute ride with our six-week-old baby for one last visit before they close for good. We arrived before their advertised closing time, yet were coldly denied service. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.
