Went to Chris off the recommendation of a close friend after the dealership was charging way more then I wanted to pay for some repairs. He was absolutely awesome! I dropped off my car the night before and he was quickly in contact with me to not only go over what I wanted done but also what needed to be done after his inspection and how much that would cost! He even let me tag on the installation of some aftermarket parts that I needed installed. I then payed over the phone and he locked my spare in the car so I could pick it up later that night. They were also very timely with the repairs! I was expecting it to need a few days in the shop but he got them done(and done well) in a day and a half! 10/10 recommend! read more

This is exactly the type of garage you would expect to find in small town New England. A warm, personable and honest business with attention to customer service. I called early on a Friday morning before a Saturday snow storm to swap into my winter tires. I explained to Chris that I used to bring my car to the Weston station but they were closed due to renovations. He said he could help and he will squeeze us in, no worries. So I decided to get an oil change as well to test multiple service points. It turns out this garage is even closer than the Weston station but my driving never has me on the this side of Black Rock Turnpike. It's right next to the Old Blue Bird cafe which could be a good spot while waiting. I needed my car back by noon and Chris happily obliged. Upon pick up, I asked Chris about the history and he told me that Old Blue Bird garage is family owned (previously his father and grandfather). I'm thrilled to have found this place. And the bill for the oil change was on par or lower than what I have received at the fast service places like valvoline or town tire! YOU CAN TRUST CHRIS. I live in Virginia, but my wife and I are renting a house in Easton, Ct to be closer to family in Greenwich for a few months around the holidays. I started smelling burning rubber from a rear brake pad a few days ago after I pulled my Lexus IS250 into my driveway. Odd, because I had both rear brakes replaced for almost $1000.00 bucks just over a year and half ago while visiting my Mom in Greenwich at a place called Riverside Service on Putnam Road and the car had only gone 10,000 miles since they had "fixed " them. I took the car to Old Bluebird Garage since I'm only a mile away from the place and met Chris who said he would check it out and he would call me before he did any work. I got the call a few hours later and he said that calipers where shot and the pads in both wheels were almost down to the metal. He suggested I call Riverside Service to see if they would cover the parts and I would pay for the labor because undoubtedly the parts we're faulty in some way. Riverside took offense and thought I was nuts since the warranty was up,so the manager just blamed my driving habits, weather conditions and a myriad of other things. Bottom line, it was my fault, not theirs and they would do the work at the same price they charged before. I called Chris back and told him the bad news. He understood my pain and said he would try to do his best to use what he could and replace the parts that were worn.Since we were expecting snow that evening, he said he would keep the car and put it inside the garage and get to work on it first thing in morning. They fixed the brakes, test drove it making sure we were good to go and even saved me a bit of money by using some of the good parts. He didn't have to do that and it was much appreciated. He even said that if I had a problem after a year, he would make sure to take care of me if I was in the area. The Old Bluebird Garage is a cool place too because it was a location for a movie about 10 years ago called Reservation Road. Chris had a non-speaking role in it pumping gas. It's next to a great place for breakfast and lunch called the Old Bluebird Inn, so if you need to wait for your car, you've got great food next door with lovely service and a little league ball field across the street to boot, so bring your mitt, a park to walk your dog and picnic tables. Yup, yup, yup, congrats you found the winner. I've brought my car here a few times now for major repairs. Chris and Justin are awesome, both times they got my car completely done in 24-36 hours, INCLUDING ordering and receiving parts. The labor is very reasonably priced, and they will be very upfront with you about all costs so you can decide if DIY is worth it or not for maintenance/smaller issues. They even stayed late after closing to complete repairs when my ordered part was running late so they could get me my car for work the next day. It's things like that that really help, not only the stress but saving money on rental cars for a few days, which are close to $100 a day now midweek. Having an honest, reliable, and fast/responsive mechanic is absolutely invaluable, I recommend here to all my family and friends. If you are in the area and looking around for a mechanic, look no further, you're not gonna get anything less expensive or faster than blue bird for moderate/major repairs. read more

FORGET YOUR OLD MECHANIC, SWITCH TO CHRIS My sister and I were traveling through Connecticut and my car broke down and we ended up stranded in Easton (we came from Delaware, over 200 miles away). We chose Bluebird based on reviews on a few different websites, and I'm very glad we chose them. It was after closing (and on a Sunday) so I had my car towed there and showed up first thing Monday morning. I spoke with Chris, who instantly put me at ease. He listened to my explanation of my car's symptoms and the steps I had taken to fix it. We had roughly the same conclusion, but he said he would call me after diagnosing and would try hard to get me out of there same day so I could get home. A few hours later he called with a breakdown of what was wrong, thoroughly explained the problem and possible solutions, including giving me prices for everything. He told me the minimum I would have to get fixed to get home safely, and an estimate for that price, as well as what he would recommend. He even had all of the parts I needed on hand and assured me I would have it by close and that they would do an excellent job (take into account this wasn't the easiest job, the bill was over $1000 so it was much more complicated than changing oil or rotating tires, etc). The car was finished around 5pm, which is when they close, but Chris didn't try to rush us out of there at all. In fact, he himself test drove the car and then rode with me while I checked it out. The staff was all very nice and checked all my fluids and topped everything off. He was more than happy to let me keep my old parts and even let me take the box that had had my new part (I wanted numbers just incase I needed warranty on the part from the company that made it). He treated my sister and I like family and even sat and chit-chatted with us for a little while. He's the third generation owner of the company and it's obvious why it's still in the family. They take pride in their work and treat their customers like human beings, something I have actually never encountered in a mechanic shop. After retrieving my car from their shop I drove home, a couple hundred miles going 80mph down the NJT, Tappenzee Bridge, etc. The car drove wonderfully, what they fixed worked perfectly, and I have not a single complaint. Best mechanic shop I've ever been to, 10/10 would recommend. He said the shop has a one year warranty on parts and labor, but because I wasn't local, it didn't really affect me. However, he said to contact him if I had any questions or if anything came up and he would be more than happy to help me. I wish I could pick up the shop and relocate it to my area! Happened to stumble upon this garage when I noticed my car was overheating. I had such a great experience and got lucky that they were right up the road from my job. The staff were so great and helpful which made my experience so lovely. Although it was close to closing time, Justin was able to quickly call in and get the part I needed to the garage in just about 20 minutes. I was in and out in just about an hour which was amazing. Chris was very honest with the pricing ahead of time and reassured me that he wanted to make sure I was getting the best possible price. I felt bad showing up on such short notice, but the staff reassured me and were very insistent on helping make sure I got back on the road quickly and that everything in my car was working properly.
