My experience at Olathe Rental Car was horrible. Shelby Herring is also very unhelpful. I dropped off my car last week for a service appointment (car was saying that park sense was unavailable, the emergency brake was engaging itself automatically, and the speaker was not working). I was provided a rental car to drive while my personal car was being worked on. I was told by one of the Olathe Rental Car employees that I would be charged $35.00 for a deposit, but I would be refunded that amount upon return of the rental car. Additionally, I asked the staff to check to see if my personal car was under warranty, which would mean I would not be charged for the parts ordered to fix the car or for the labor. I was told by the Olathe Rental Car employee that no, I would not be charged anything because I was under warranty. Mike, the service manager, also confirmed on their end that I was not charged anything for the labor or parts. About an hour after dropping off the rental car and picking up my personal car, I saw a charge of 155.25 show up on my credit card. I did not give either the Olathe Chryster Jeep Dodge staff nor the Olathe Rental Car staff my credit card at any point today. I called and was passed to Shelby Herring. Shelby Herring insisted that I was told about the potential cleaning charge when I signed the rental agreement on April 2. I told her that I was NOT told about it, and that if I would have been told, that I would have cleaned the rental car. She then sent me the paperwork and in Extremely FINE print, I did see language about a potential cleaning charge. Again, I was NOT told about this or directed to it when I signed anything. VERY BAD business practices at a minimum! You should TELL the customer what they are signing and take them through each paragraph and not just assume that they will read the fine print. While this is a lesson learned on my end, I felt that the way it was handled was very unprofessional and somewhat deceitful. I will not ever be going to this dealership or using their services again, and hope to prevent this from happening to another individual. read more
