We have zero experience with the animals or work involved in this industry. Our family has member with quadriplegia (wheelchair bound) that desired to ride a horse for Christmas. Cottonwood Creek Ranch was not only up for the task, they were excited to share in the experience -- providing therapy thru horse riding. Despite the wicked cold (4 degree Fahrenheit with 30 mph winds and snow), the staff came out in full force with the sweetest horse to help our physically limited family member get on that horse and ride around the barn. The pictures speak volumes. I highly recommend for all novice horse enthusiasts. The professionalism and friendliness of this establishment is worth investigating.

You can pay for riding lessons here given in a massive indoor practice facility. They even do birthday parties for the younglings. Prices are average for what they do, but it's definitely a pricey hobby/sport. One thing is for sure, the family here are good people and they hire quality workers that really care. If you are prepared to dedicate your time and money, or need a place to keep your horse, this place is as good as any around. Also they live on property making it very accessible.

I've been assigned to work out in Oklahoma the last few months, so I've been learning about it. So…read morefar, the Oklahoma History Center has been one of my favorite spots. I got the whole rundown, beginning to present, for 10 bucks! First of all, the staff is so nice. The volunteer who greeted me (I think his name was Fred?) was great. He gave me an overview of the whole museum and let me know how to make my way around. There are several sections on Oklahoma history, including the natural habitat, industry, and innovation. They cover famous Oklahomans, the role Oklahoma residents played in the various wars of the country and world. There is a section on the musical Oklahoma, a famous Oklahoma steam ship. There is also a space exhibit featuring a real portion of a space shuttle. There are a surprising number of Oklahoman astronauts! My favorite part of this museum, besides Fred and his enthusiasm, was the large section on First Americans peoples (indigenous people). Unlike some other area museums, they were honest and comprehensive in teaching what these people faced. They have a very good video that explains how natives were forcibly removed, tortured, betrayed, and assimilated. I applaud them for this. I toured this museum toward the end of a very busy day, and my brain was overloaded. I only spent just over an hour here, but it deserves at least two probably. Great place to learn about Oklahoma.

My favorite area is the "original stories" shown on a massive wrap around screen -- complete with rock shaped seats. From there you follow a timeline of significant moments in indigenous history. The children's wing has come so far in the last few years and has a ton of interactive options for kids and adults alike. A note about accessibility: The FAM does an amazing job not only being ADA compliant but going above and beyond. Audio and visual portions have physical text or captions for those who need it. Exhibit videos also display timers in the lower corner. There are several "fire pit" seating areas throughout that allow for folks to rest. These are also all wheelchair accessible.

Of course the artwork and artifacts are beautiful but what really got me was the mood. This place is QUIET. Not in a sterile don't touch anything way (but yeah, also don't touch anything), but with the stories that are told on the video, or through the curated spaces. It's contemplative and deeply respectful. This is NOT your typical museum where kids are sprinting around screaming. It's calm. And somehow, that calm extends even to the children's area. The Family Discovery Center is EXCEPTIONAL. Kids can climb, build, and explore hands-on educational stations for hours. There are interactive games, and activities that teach caring for our world which is the theme "We are all Connected." I really enjoyed the videos that detailed how the first Americans believed males and females were formed, I wish they had the animated video in a book format for purchase. Come spend a few hours here and take the time to reflect.
