I've been assigned to work out in Oklahoma the last few months, so I've been learning about it. So…read morefar, the Oklahoma History Center has been one of my favorite spots. I got the whole rundown, beginning to present, for 10 bucks! First of all, the staff is so nice. The volunteer who greeted me (I think his name was Fred?) was great. He gave me an overview of the whole museum and let me know how to make my way around. There are several sections on Oklahoma history, including the natural habitat, industry, and innovation. They cover famous Oklahomans, the role Oklahoma residents played in the various wars of the country and world. There is a section on the musical Oklahoma, a famous Oklahoma steam ship. There is also a space exhibit featuring a real portion of a space shuttle. There are a surprising number of Oklahoman astronauts! My favorite part of this museum, besides Fred and his enthusiasm, was the large section on First Americans peoples (indigenous people). Unlike some other area museums, they were honest and comprehensive in teaching what these people faced. They have a very good video that explains how natives were forcibly removed, tortured, betrayed, and assimilated. I applaud them for this. I toured this museum toward the end of a very busy day, and my brain was overloaded. I only spent just over an hour here, but it deserves at least two probably. Great place to learn about Oklahoma.

It's not too big, so just a couple hours. It's super clean, quiet during week. They do have a gift shop also. Cost is 10 and seniors 8. A great place to visit once a year.

I wasn't expecting much, and actually lowered my expectations when I arrived and saw the boring building that looks like it belongs in any strip mall, but the displays were pretty awesome. You could spend days here. The number of different skeletons was staggering and they're organized nicely, with some funny Easter eggs in the displays. Well worth a visit for kids or adults.

Every year they have a show for emerging artists and their selection is always amazing; you won't find mediocre artwork here. I was one of the artists for the 2011 show (I hope that doesn't make me biased) but I have to say my fellow artists in this show were AMAZING. Seriously, this is top notch art you would expect to see in San Francisco or Chicago. I believe they have new shows every 6-8 weeks so be sure to check their website for upcoming events. They also rent out the gallery for parties/receptions. I also have to mention that the staff is wonderful and very sweet. No pretentious folks here!
