Thursday 1/2 priced shushi is great. Love this place, the ambiance is great. I did read all the reviews before I went and didn't know what to expect. Since it was half priced sushi the wait to sit was a little longer about 40 mins. The sitting for sushi is not that big so a group of 4 people is just about right. It starts getting less busy around 8:00pm since it closes at 10pm. The sushi does take a while to come out but since I went with other people you start drinking and the time passes by. You do need to order any drink over $2 to get the half price sushi. I had Japan One roll(shrimp tempura and avocado inside spicy crabmeat on top) butterfly roll(crunchy spicy crabmeat and avocado inside topped w shrimps), shrimp tempura and California roll and they were all great. The best ones were the specialty Japan and butterfly rolls. It is a separate menu for the 1/2 priced sushi. read more

Met up with some friends for dinner while passing through town and we all settled on Okinawa. The hibachi side of the restaurant was dead, so we opted to go over there instead of going for the thai or sushi side of things (extremely busy on that side). I did order some sushi as an appetizer, and frankly I didn't think it was all that. The sushi was edible, even good, but compared to a lot of other places I've had sushi, it just wasn't impressive or memorable. Our hibachi chef was dressed in cowboy garb and he did a terrific job of entertaining our group while cooking up our food. The Mojitos were also a treat! The scallops were perfect, the rice was plentiful and the interaction with the chef was memorable (in a good way of course!). read more

Sub par sushi - When entering you'll be transfixed by the colorful lighting everywhere, which is probably the best thing this place has going for it. We orded 5 rolls, waited 40 minutes until we received the sub par sushi. Waitress was dry and it was as if we were bothering her by being there. In the end 5 rolls and 2 cokes came out to 86 dollars. I'm never going back here. We usually come here every Thursday night for the half price sushi, and it is a good deal. Their sushi is pretty good and I love their pineapple rice, but it's not worth having to deal with the terrible service. Usually, you have to flag down one of the servers if you need anything, or hope they make eye contact with you while they are walking by. Tonight, we got our food and a server never came back to our table to ask us if we needed anything or how we were doing. After we were done eating, we waited about 30 min and had to flag down the hostess to get our check. When she brought our checks, she pretty much threw them on the table like she was annoyed we asked for them in the first place. We literally just finished paying when the manager came to our table and asked us if we could move to the bar because they needed our table. When my mom said she felt like that was rude, and we have had to wait for tables here before, the manager said "I am sorry you got offended, but that's our policy. We are losing money." She also told us that we could have just came to the bar to get our check if it was taking too long. They definitely lost a customer. read more

LOVE IT! I go to Okinawa at least once a week, whether it is the Hibachi side or the Sushi Bar. I have never had a bad experience here. I normally order over the phone and pick it up and the sushi has never been bad. Service is always prompt and efficient when I do eat inside the restaurant. Would recommend 10 out of 10!! No matter what you like I do not suspect you will be disappointed if you come to Okinawa. They also have certain times for half priced sushi and you could not get a better deal! read more

The food is great but the service in the dining area is pretty bad, especially if you're coming for either of the half price sushi nights (Wed/Thurs). I used to come every week but after waiting for hours for our food to come, I stopped coming in and it seems like a lot of customers have too. That said, the hostess and the bartender are the exceptions and are SO attentive and polite. I order to go now to avoid waiting and they always make sure my order is being worked or that I have what I need. 10 stars to them. read more

Very disappointed! Ordered through door dash and Okinawa completely messed up my order and over charged me by $70 ! I did not even get a Confirmation on the 2nd order that I did not place! Not only did they mess up my order but they did not send any soy sauce, mustard, duck sauce or any napkins or plastic ware, which is included in any order without request. The food that was delivered tasted days old! I could not even eat it! I have eaten in the restaurant before and it was not even close to being the same! Jazzi , the young lady i spoke with at Okinawa was of no help!! Useless! When i asked to speek with a manager she said no one was there! How do you run a restaurant without a manager or someone to make decisions! I strongly recommend not to order through door dash! It was a complete nightmare and took a entire day to get it resolved no thanks to Okinawa! They were not willing to resolve anything or take any responsibility! Only been here once for the 50% off sushi and I sat at the sushi bar. The employee who served us was not very nice and never would come to check on us. What really made me give such a low rating was when a completely different waiter brought us our check before we had even eaten... She handed me the check and said "have a nice day" and in confusion I responded with "umm.... we haven't even eaten yet..." Tuesday nights and Thursday nights, they offer 50% off of selected sushi rolls with the purchase of a beverage (starting at around $3). You can have 2 rolls for dinner and bottomless (delicious) sweet tea for under 10 bucks, which is definitely a steal. The sushi isn't the best I've ever had, but it seems fresh and is decent. They also have a great lunch menu, I'm particularly fond of the bento box option. On the half off nights, you can definitely expect the place to be slammed, and as a result, the staff with be busy and less attentive. Make sure you order all of your food at the beginning of the meal, and go with some people you like being around - you might be waiting together for a while! read more

I stopped in here for lunch this week and again the food was outstanding. I ordered two types of sushi as well as the lunch grilled chicken and shrimp combo and it was out of this world delicious. The staff is friendly and do a great job with their customers and the owner of this establishment is one of the nicest persons you'll meet. I highly recommend this place, not only for lunch and sushi but for their hibachi grill seating and their half off sushi nights they have each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm not impressed that this restaurant always seems to be closing early despite the times posted on the door. We went there one Saturday night and were the only ones there. The sign said open until 11pm. However, although we were already finishing up our meal and were clearly trying to get our daughter to finish up her meal, they came to tell us they were closed now and we had to leave. It was not quite 10pm yet. We went back with a friend a few months later and a similar experience with the closing time. Came here on a Thursday evening while staying over night at a hotel nearby. Turns out on Thursday nights they offer 50% off sushi, double win, or so we thought. (BOY, were we wrong!) First of all, it was FREEZING in the dining room, like unbearably cold, so cold that my fiancé, who is never cold, was shivering. No one ever stopped by our table to greet us or take our drink order. Finally, a server stopped by, and asked us if we received our drink order yet. I kindly told him that no one has even stopped by to take our order, or say hello for that matter. He rushed us into taking our drink order, and after we first asked for 2 waters, he ran off before we could even place our cocktail/ beer orders, (Which btw, each diner is required to order a drink that cost at least $2, if they decide to partake in 50% off sushi nights). I didn't even want a cocktail, however, it was mandatory, and they refused to let me order one! How does that even work!? 10 minutes later someone took our drink and sushi order. We waited a little over 40 minutes just for our drinks. I finally flagged someone down to see where our drinks were. She comes back and tells us they lost our order. So we had to re-order our drinks, and about 10 minutes later, they arrive. They were fine, but it's hard to mess up what we ordered from the bar. I'll cut to the chase now, since I am sure you see where this review is going. 2 hours later, from the time we placed our initial order, our sushi finally came. MY sushi was fine. I am a vegetarian and just got cucumber and avocado rolls, which are impossible to mess up, so my assessment of my order holds no value. But my fiancés sushi was inedible. He literally ate one piece and could not even look at the rest. During all of this, I complained to the manager twice, who provided me with insincere apologies both times. Meanwhile, we can hear all the other tables around us complaining to the servers as well, saying they have been waiting well over an hour for their food and drinks as well. Normally, I would never stand for such disgraceful service. I would have left this establishment after the first 10 minutes. However, after a long, exhausting day of driving, we just didn't have the energy to go somewhere else. We, of course, had to flag someone down for our check. I was expecting a few items to be taken off our bill, seeing as we had a terrible experience. But no. We were charged for everything. I insisted the manager at least remove my fiancé's untouched meal from the bill, just out of principle, but she only removed the lowest priced item. I laughed, left my first less than 20% tip, and left. What a joke. BTW, I still left a 15% tip, only because I felt bad for the one server who seemed to actually care. Grand opening for this new Japanese and Thai restaurant (located next to FIve Guys). Came for lunch on Saturday. The decor in the sushi bar and main dining room is contemporary with lots of neon lighting and waves of color. The Hibachi room is more traditional in style. We had a kitchen lunch box (Bento) and a teriyaki tofu lunch special. Lovely plating and everything was delicious and fresh. Also tried the tempura fried cheesecake which was very tasty. The servers were sweet and attentive. We will definitely be back - so many choices on their extensive menu. Note: Lunch menu available only Mon-Sat from 11:00 to 3:00. Our 2 lunch specials, 2 beverages and 1 dessert was only $30.00. Dinner would be about $30 and higher per person. read more

My wife and I have been to this relatively new restaurant in Winchester, VA several times. Each time we discover something new on the menu. From the Sashimi to the incredibly tasty rolls, you simply cannot go wrong. We have tried the Thai, many of the appetizers, and even some of the traditional Chinese dishes, each was served with visual appeal, and amazing taste. This is to say nothing about the great service. The waiters/waitresses share stations and each work hard to ensure you are taken care of. I simply cannot say enough good things about this place. I love this place so much I'm sad for my vacation to be over. Amazing sushi with a decent amount of veggie options. Really creative and pretty presentation of the sushi too! Attentive service. Awesome color changing lights and prismatic chandelier. I would totally bring a date here. You should. There's also a full bar and a huge room full of hibachi grills. I love that they have asparagus rolls. It's really great to have veggie options other than the usual cucumber or avocado rolls. Umm. Not impressed. The hostess was very friendly and I was seated quickly. Took a little bit for the waitress to make it over to my table. She really didn't give the impression she wanted to be there. No smile and just said "What do you want?" I placed my order and rhe soup and salad came out rather quickly. The miso soup was horrible. It was room temperature and had no flavor, none. The salad wasn't much better. The dressing was pretry much flavorless. I didn't eat either of them. My order arrived shortly later. It was good. I had the chirashi bowl. It wasn't really much to write home about, bit it was good. I would eat there again, but no need to bring a soup or salad unless they fix them. read more

Service has deteriorated an the quality of the food at this restaurant has dropped in recent months. It's a shame because the Shenandoah isn't loaded with good Japanese restaurants. I'm sugar conscious and we asked the server if a particular dish contained sugar. She said "no" but when it arrived, it was clearly loaded with sugar. I loved this place. The food is well prepared and cooked. I had some excellent sushi that was plated beautifully. We ate in the restaurant part, not by the grills, so I don't know what the hibachi is like but I plan on coming back soon to try it. The only catch is that you have to order a soda or tea in order to get the sushi at half-price. The food here is great but the service is AWFUL I went here for sushi so that's the only food I can review. The sushi was awesome but it took almost a hr to get it. We came when it was a little busy so I expected a bit of a wait. We had picked out our sushi rolls before being seated to try to help things along. After we got our drinks and our server took our order we never saw our waitress again until I had to flag her down and ask what was taking so long on our food because it had been about 45 mins since we had ordered it had also slowed down quite a bit. She told me she would check and came back 5 mins later to tell me they were working on it now. We finally got our sushi and it was great food still never saw our waitress after she dropped off our food. I had to flag her down again (I hate doing that it makes me feel rude but I had no choice because no waitress was to be found) once we got our check she came by 3 times in 5 mins to get it. It really irritated me that for over a hour this waitress was no where to be found and now when we are going to pay she's here 3 times in 5 mins once money was taken out.
