Had lunch here with my parents. We ordered the Crispy yummy, Four Seasons, shrimp pad Thai and ginger scallion fish. Best dish was the Crispy yummy which was spicy tuna and avocado on a fried wonton wrapper. Other dishes were just average at best. The shrimp pad Thai was disappointing, too sweet and not enough tamarind flavor. I'll be honest, my home-cooked pad thai tastes a lot better. I think if they focused more on one specific Asian cuisine instead of Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese or Japanese, the quality and flavor of the food would be a lot better. read more

Stopped in for dinner while in town. This place is busy. Was greeted walking in and seated within the same moment. The lady taking care of me was kind and gracious. The interior is bright and traditional, an open space with ample seating. After giving the menu a read, I started with the dumplings and a seaweed salad. Both were good, the dumplings golden brown and tasty, served with a dipping sauce the texture and filling both good. The salad was freshly made and full flavored, a generous portion that was quite tasty and a solid start. Next, the cucumber veggie roll, it was fresh, light, and had a great flavor with six pieces to an order just the right size. Along with a mixed order of Sushi and Sashimi, half a dozen pieces in all. Octopus, Yellowtail and Ahi. Each well prepared and freshly made. Each true to style and flavor. All were a good choice. 4 Stars All in all, a good choice for my evening meal. You really can't go wrong at Chinatown. Their entrees are off the chart. General Tao's is my favorite! I know...pretty predictable. But goooood! Excellent appetizers are available as well. I usually like to get a Dragon Roll of sushi with eel. It's sublime! Whenever the friendly wait staff come by and ask if we want dessert, I always laugh. I do not see how anybody could have room for dessert with the generous portions they serve. All of this is done in a charming dining room decorated with tasteful art (see pictures). As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place to go eat Chinese food in Winchester. They have an extensive menu with sushi, Chinese food, and some Korean dishes. Everything we've had here was fabulous and the portion sizes are generous. The service was great and we have eaten in the restaurant. It's clean and comfortable. read more

Our "go to" restaurant for Chinese food. The dining room is cozy and the staff is always super polite and nice. The food is always excellent. We don't have a favorite dish as everything on the menu is outstanding. Highly recommend Chinatown when you're in the Winchester area. read more

We were seated upon arrival in a large open dining area. It could be a little loud with a lot of customers but it was comfortable. We started with the Thai shrimp rolls and received much more than expected. The spicy duck sauce had a Smokey flavor and just a touch of heat. The flavor of the roll and sauce were both good. I ordered two meals, the Monster special roll and Crispy dry shredded chicken. The Monster roll was delicious and one to be ordered over and over again. Unfortunately the "crispy" chicken was so soggy you may want to skip it altogether, very chewy and a big disappointment. She had the Sesame chicken substituting cabbage for broccoli. It was a lunch portion so a much smaller portion. The amount of cabbage was laughable, 3 maybe 4 pieces. (Paid extra for the substitution) However, the chicken was tender, flavorful and even though it was fried it was not at all oily. We both had fried rice which had good flavor and was moist. Was recommended by staff at our hotel. Excellent food, very nice staff, excellent service, and all at fair price. Nice atmosphere: good accoutics( quiet). We had (made in house) crab ragoons and egg roll( good hot mustard), followed by orange beef. Bill called it filet tips: I believe it! Orange sauce very tasty, and if one wanted to consume the hot red peppers, it could be VERY HOT. Alone sauce had a little kick and great flavor. On a Wednesday night we had to wait- place was packed- but wait was less than we were given. Bar area is comfortable, and staff delivered our drinks. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted promptly; server was very helpful, prompt with refills; to the food which was very well prepared and seasoned. Consistently excellent food with fresh farm to table ingredients. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Fresh vegetables, high quality meats and fish. Incredible Fusion of Chinese, Korean and Thai. This is my go-to spot for sushi as well. Definitely a top five on my list of restaurants to visit throughout the year. read more

Not going back. I've done takeout mostly in the last few years but tonight I was starving and ate in. Started with hot and sour soup which had no resemblance to the dish. A glop of mangled tofu filled most of the bowl. Normally tofu is slivered in this dish. There was a bit of wood ear mushroom. No meat - pork is always best - so no depth of flavor. Next had the Bulgogi beef which had NO Bulgogi sauce or flavor. Meat was well prepared, but the little bit of mushroom and onion gave it no flavor. I took it home, as when I complained the waiter said that's how they do it here. I'll pour some bulgogi sauce on it tomorrow when I reheat it. The Sesame chicken was competent and as usual. Nice size rice bowls. The tea had been brewed for lunch and was super black imho. Service was good and friendly. Three team members cover the entire dining room and multi task. The dining room had been thinned of tables, which was fine. The clientele was over 50 with a couple kids in parties. Hoped for some boutique gin, but the bartender very kindly explained they had standard call brands only so did not get a cocktail. Restrooms were clean and modern. The interior was drab with nothing elegant, no color pop, but no kitsch. They have set the sushi room into a lounge with low tables, the sushi bar set up remains but maybe less sushi business?? Certainly major take out business now with front entry redesigned for that function. read more

Chinatown is the epitome of the saying, "You can't judge a book by its cover." You could pass by this restaurant and not even notice it. The exterior is unassuming. It is sandwiched in between hotels and it generally just blends in to this commercial area of Winchester VA. The humble exterior for me was confusing. The exterior definitely did not match my great experince here. Suffice to say, in my humble opinion Chinatown has the best Sushi, Chinese and Thai food in Winchester VA. I'm setting up my booth here. Prove me wrong. The interior is very modern, upscale and trendy. They have an extensive wine list, craft beer, spirits and craft cocktails. Not even sure if they have a happy hour, but the bar area is a good size and I could see this spot to be a great location for a satisfying happy hour experience. The sushi here is super fresh and tasty. The service is great. And, they have some great craft beer. They don't have draft, but hey you can't have everything you'd like in life. It would spoil you. Still, Chinatown spoiled me. I was introduced to some fantastic craft beers. Lucky for me I am staying in one of the hotels next store and I will definitely be returning. Have been searching for a good Chinese place since moving out here in July. I'm happy to say that this is definitely the place. It's very busy for a reason...the food here is excellent!! Each time we've eaten here, we have been very satisfied. Appetizers are well prepared and not greasy as they are at many Chinese restaurants. The entrées are very well done, and the portions are generous with plenty left over to take home. They also have a full sushi bar, but I haven't tried it yet. I highly recommend this restaurant for your Chinese fix!! read more

An amazing experience! There were 3 in my party and we arrived around 5:00 without a reservation (not recommended) but were able to be seated promptly with a smile. We shared an order of fried dumplings and chicken lettuce wraps. The dumplings were exceptionally fried and tasted very home made. I also had hot and sour soup which was to die for. For entrees, I had the Kung Pao Shrimp with a side of fried rice and my guests had General Tso's Chicken also with fried rice. We initially wondered if the Beef Noodle Soup (the 3rd meal we ordered) was enough for a meal, but it most definitely was. This is my first time back since the major renovations and we will surely stop by again... but with reservations this time. read more

Pro: phone ordering/ curbside pickup, friendly staff, clean interior. Con: small parking lot, online website doesn't work. Heard from a coworker that this restaurant made some pretty good Chinese food so I decided to give this place a try. I called the restaurant and ordered the egg roll, pork fried rice, chicken pad Thai, and orange chicken. The front parking is small and half the space is reserve for pick up but I do think you can park in the back which has more space. The interior was very modern and clean. The staff at the register was friendly and nice. After seeing home with the order I started with the egg roll and it was decent but nothing special. The pork fried rice was pretty good so no complaint there. The pad Thai was ok and only had a hint of the tangy taste that I am accustomed to for my pad Thai. The orange chicken that was encase in that sauce was very overpowering unless you combine it with the plain rice then it become perfectly balanced. All in all, I had a good experience with this restaurant and wouldn't mind tasting more food from here in the future. read more
