Meh. Saw some good reviews, but was fairly disappointed in my takeout. The veggie spring rolls were super bland, even with the sauce. I threw the last half away. Which I never do! And the general tso's tofu was just ok. The sauce had a decent flavor but I've had better elsewhere. Plus there's lots of weird boxes stacked up on the one table and we didn't get any fortune cookies. I'm now realizing they were probably in one of those boxes. Oh well. We have been going here for 6 years, but lately (last 4 months) the quality of the food has gone down hill. My husband ordered a scallop, shrimp meal and it had 2 scallops. I had Hunan Chicken, and it was tasteless. They load up the meal with broccoli, if you like alot of broccoli. The food just doesn't taste as good as it used to, since Mr. Guan hasn't been there. I know he did not cook, but something has changed. I hate looking for a new place, but it's just not that good anymore. read more

Our family visits Guan's several times a month. The food is very good and fresh. I am particularly fond of the black bean sauce dishes and the pork egg foo young. I do wish I could go lower then one star. This was the first time I was so rudely treated because I wasn't ordering as much as the Asia gentleman behind the dirty counter wanted. I ordered the shrimp special and he insisted I order something else. I told him that completed my order, but he insisted I order a drink. I told him to add a water that was clearly marked $1:00 on the refrigerator. At first he charged me regular price of $10.95 for the lunch special. I told him that the price on the lunch menu is 7:95, and he said "I don't speak English"! I told him that was not an excuse to over charge! So he corrected the charge. Rather then embarrassments the guy became visibly angry. He said "is this your first time here", again, in clear English. I told him that it was and likely the last! He grabbed my food and pushed it to me from behind the counter as he said "bye". I asked if he had put any plastic utensils or chopsticks in the bag, he said no! I politely asked if he could provide something, he grabbed a set of chopsticks and pushed it across the counter like he had earlier with the food, this time emphasizing "BYE"! Once I walked out I checked my receipt and noticed he charged $1:50 for the water that was marked $1:00! Truly, if this is how they treat new customers, how could they stay in business? My shrimp is half cooked with the black Vein still intact, the rice is covered in peanut oil and hard, and the broccoli is so over cooked that when I tried to lift with my chopsticks, it smooshed into goo! read more

This restaurant was one of only a couple in the area that was open and we gave it a try. I decided to try Guan's. what a mistake. I only got two items; chow fun (the wide noodles) and was given MEI fun. The vermicelli style. I'm sorry but MEI and CHOW sound so different. I sometimes crave a very american dish, Gen. Tso's chicken (it's addictive sorry) But honestly, there wasn't one piece of brocolli or a hot pepper to be found in the clump that came out. Which I am sure wasn't helped by the wait to have them re-cook the chow fun. In addition, this place isn't cheap so I think that it was a total waste of time and effort to go there. read more

Food was very fresh. Large portions on the combo dinners. The egg drop soup was very sesame forward in the most delicious way. Highly recommended if you're staying in a hotel nearby that you try this. You won't be disappointed. Pleasantly surprised! Hypoglycemia sometimes forces quick decisions, so we found ourselves taking a chance, and we're glad we did. I tried the Orange Chicken with Fried Rice. The portions were huge! I couldn't finish, but it was soon delicious I ate until I was ready to pop! I wouldn't normally review an egg roll, but Guan's were somehow different. I'd guess they're made fresh daily and had the best wrapping I've ever tasted! Great little place. The food here is delicious! While waiting for orders I've had some great conversations with the chefs about which dish I should try and I've never been upset. I grew up around Asian food and spent all of my time in college around foreign exchange students who would cook their home dishes for me. We ate at the restaurant and the old Chinese guy taking our order really needs to work on his social and communication skills. He wasn't outright rude but definitely comes across as rude. He seems easily offended over benign statements such as, asking for the check after patiently waiting at the counter for him to acknowledge your existence so you can ask for the bill. His response is, relax, take it easy. I'm cool as a cucumber, so I'm confused why he would say that. Worried that he might become more offended, I clear off the table and attempt to clean off the table and floor after my messy kids, but he tells me not to worry about it. Really confused by him, so I'm guessing it's just a cultural thing. I don't know. Either way...it really didn't make for a good experience. The food itself wasn't too bad. Sting beans dish was good, as was the kung pow three in one. The fried rice wasn't as good but not terrible. Wife complained it tasted of old oil. Not sure I would really recommend this place simply due to the grumpy old man. Just adds a layer of social awkwardness I'm not looking for when I want Chinese take out. read more
