The standout was definitely the sweet and sour chicken--very tasty--paired with the egg fried rice, which was absolutely amazing! We also started with the egg drop soup, which was a nice comfort classic. ​The only downside was the beef chow fun. It was a bit too salty for our taste, and the noodles were unexpectedly chopped up into small pieces instead of left long, which was a little strange. ​That being said, the highlights were good enough that we'll definitely be coming back to give their other noodle dishes a try. read more

Well I have eaten here for the last time. I called my order in tonight and everything was fine until they arrived and my particular meal was missing I called back and was told she said we didn't have shrimp lo mien but she repeated my order back to me before I got off the phone and didn't recall her saying anything. If that was the case I would have ordered something else. So I called back and said that she didn't have my order in the bag she preceded to tell me she didn't have shrimp lo me in and didn't charge me. The beef and broccoli was decent and the wings were delicious I had to eat some of my wife's and mother in law's meal. Totally inexcusable and have decided to buy from my regular place. read more

Best Chinese restaurant in town. Good food and nice people. No place to eat inside, but we usually get it as takeout anyway.

If you're looking for Chinese in Charles Town and wondering whether New China or Great Wall is better, it's definitely New China. The food is delicious. But the prices on the newest menus are completely inaccurate. This is the second time I've been completely caught off guard and appalled by the price of my small order. I will not come back unless I'm desperate to not cook, and even then, I'd rather go somewhere where they don't lie about prices on the menu and avoid telling you the total before you arrive to pick it up. I know everything is going up in price lately but the dishonesty is unacceptable. read more

I wanted to come here after reading good reviews. The restaurant is so-so, average. Hubby and I came for lunch and we both ordered shrimp dishes from the lunch specials. Lunch was ok, I think many people who have tried this place haven't been to the other restaurant that I reviewed because that other place is pretty authentic with homestyle cooking. I found dishes at New Kitchen taste very sweet and less authentic, even the hot and sour soup. Just my opinion. If you like sweet food, this is the place. The service was ok. read more

Amazing!!! After living in San Francisco Bay area and recently DC, now in CT this restaurant stands up to the best I've had. The shrimp are large, deveined and fresh!!! My first experience has been awesome. I have no problem paying for quality!!! BTW, best hot and sour and wonton soup I've had, unlike others so thick with cornstarch you can cut with a knife!!! A hole in the wall best describes this restaurant, take out only and what you can see from the front counter does not look very clean at all. I was desperate to find a good Chinese food place in the area so hole in the wall here we come.. we have ordered food from these people for just over a year, you never know what you are going to get sometimes the food is really good but other times I would not give it to my chickens. I've never eaten inside, I order take out or delivery. I've always received my food quickly and efficiently. I usually get BBQ boneless ribs, which are very meaty,egg drop soup and coconut shrimp. I like using the coconut sauce to refry my leftovers, especially the rice. Good place for cheap and punctual delivery. read more

Go to place for Chinese food in this area. The General Tso's is fantastic! Great price for huge portions and they are so friendly! It may not be near your hotel but it's worth the drive out of your way. read more
