I stopped in this place after we finished the half-mile walk through town. The mid-morning sun was already hot and we needed to chill a bit. This place has a nice ambiance, with local art on the walls. The place had a steady stream of visitors even though the town itself was quiet. I sat on the big blue couch to cool down and decide my order. I wasn't rushed by the counter gal to make an order. She took a short break to show a young family the back rooms that were part of the old undertaker's business. I settled for a large strawberry-kiwi refresher soda, which is seltzer with flavorings. The best part about today's visit was talking to a local woman who had been there when I came in, a former Marine from 1970-1974 who then transitioned. Her boobs were impressively bigger than mine! I would have loved to have chatted with her more as I'm always interested in the lives of our underdogs, but I had to leave as I still had to drive back home to drop off Gretel and then head up to Tucson. Tombstone and Bisbee have such interesting characters and they all have engaging stories to tell.

I was a little humbled to admit that I am a local person from nearby Sierra Vista, east side. Twenty miles away. Stepping into this old building is stepping into seven generations of a family. Jay and his four siblings lived in this building before they moved to a larger ranch house off MiddleMarch Road. There's even a painting on the wall of his family home. The adobe section was built in 1880 and the brick addition in 1883. The old dining room is now the main room of the coffee shop. I ordered an iced white chocolate latte with whipped cream. It was very smooth. The coffee beans are sent to him from a family friend in Panama and roasted locally. The pastries are made by a baker friend in Benson. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit but I didn't want to keep Jay from his chores. He opened this shop because he saw a need and business is doing well. (The coyboy coffee is the top seller.) Thoughts of extending operating hours and adding a taco truck in the lot next door are in the future. Friendly dogs are welcome. They even have water bowls for them inside and outside.

wait staff, cashiers and even the cooks DO NOT WEAR MASKS, so they are cooking and preparing your food without any masks on with COVID going on. unfortunately, we are still in the middle of a pandemic, so if you are taking it seriously, AVOID this restaurant and Tombstone at all costs. most employees at businesses are not wearing masks and are not social distancing. The gunfighting shows are packed shoulder to shoulder even though their websites say they are requiring face masks and social distancing. Very disappointing, concerning and misleading. We should have done more research before visiting because we would have stayed away! read more
