We ordered edamame as an appetizer, then miso soup and their house salad with greens, carrots, tomatoes, mandarin oranges and a light oriental dressing. Popped in on a Thursday evening and the place was hopping. Very small location. My youngest had the chicken teriyaki kids meal and said "it was the best he ever had." My other son and I shared the Godzilla roll and the spicy tuna roll. I loved the way the tuna roll was presented. Honestly I think everything was presented very well. My husband got one of the Mongolian noodle plates and the purple haze sake and enjoyed both. We both felt the prices were reasonable for what you got. I'd definitely like to try more! read more

An unexpected gem. Great food, good portions, and delightful staff. The soup comes in a real bowl -- not a big bowl with 1 inch of soup. It's excellent. The bento boxes are large portions of salmon, beef, chicken, or whatever you choose and include a decent size salad, rice, filled wontons and great sauces. The sushi is tasty and fresh, as was the delicious salmon I had in the bento box. As to service, Amanda was wonderful -- attentive, interesting and she makes you feel right at home. Oishii is a trendy, new sushi joint in Orem off 800 N. The restaurant is well-lit, cozy, and quaint. The employees are super friendly and the sushi-maker is obviously a master at the craft. I ordered two of the special rolls- the Playboy and the Rainbow- and they tasted fantastic, stuck together amazingly, and were perfectly proportioned. I also enjoyed a tasty appetizer of Seaweed Salad, which was a nicely-sized plump of bright green seaweed. I'd highly recommend this restaurant and I feel like it doesn't get the full appreciation it deserves because it is smaller and harder to spot while driving by. A tough review. The sushi was excellent, and our waitress was very friendly. That said, my son and I sat at the sushi bar (on the left side), and we've never experienced a less friendly sushi chef. In fact, he is the least friendly person we've encountered here in Utah (we are from LA), where everyone else is exceedingly nice. The guy didn't utter more than a few words to us the entire evening but spent all of his time huffing and puffing, apparently upset about all of the sushi and rolls he had to prepare. There is no question he was working hard, but he clearly hated what he was doing. I highly recommend he consider a different profession. We asked him if we should order directly from him or the waitress, and he snorted that either was fine but then proceeded not to say one word to us thereafter. Needless to say, even though the guy was less than one foot from us, we ordered from the waitress. As a result, even though the fish was delicious, the experience was extremely unpleasant and not close to worth the $100 we spent. I would rather opt for lesser quality sushi than spend another moment near this guy. read more

The time has come that I discontinued my patronage of Kyoto due to the high turnover of their sushi chefs and the inconsistent flavor and quality of the sushi. Long ago, their chefs managed to roll magic into their sushi and that why I stuck with them for years. However, their chefs moved on and I went looking around to find them. After some searching, I found out my favorite chef started a small, yet intimate and cozy, eating establishment. The restaurant, Oishii Sushi, is true to its name as the sushi truly is delicious. The nigiri and sashimi are flavorful and of excellent quality. There are several common rolls and several unique rolls I haven't had before. I usually order a bowl of steaming hot udon as well as several rolls of sushi and I've left satisfied every time thus far. Also, I've heard the Mongolian food is excellent and I will make sure to give it a try the next time I visit. In conclusion, I highly recommend this sushi restaurant. read more

I just found a new favorite place to eat! We happened to see the sign for it a couple days ago so we decided to try it based on the reviews from other Yelpers. This place is SO good. The Buuz dumplings are made to order so they take 20 minutes or so to make, they were my favorite thing I ate. We also tried the citrus roll, kiss burrito, fried cream cheese, gyoza, and tonkstsu. The tonkatsu was a close second on my list of favorites. It is a small place, tucked away on the edge of a strip mall behind an Arby's. We ate around 545, and we were the only ones there, by 7 the place was filling up! I felt that the prices were very fair and the portions were really big, especially the tonkatsu. We ordered way too much food for 3 people, but we couldn't stop eating! I will definitely be going back! read more

This is my new favorite sushi joint in Orem. This is what our Lord and Savior, Guy Fieri, would call money. Service is excellent, always friendly and quick. It's a family run place and they really care about what food and service they are giving out. Some of them come and talk with you, which makes everything so much more personal. The food is incredible. The mongolian dishes are amazing and home made, and the sushi is always so fresh. I'm partial to the tempura shrimp roll and the citrus roll. This is quite the hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall off of 800 N. Even though I live just across the street, I wouldn't have known about this place if not for Yelp. Saw some pretty pictures and some pretty good reviews so I thought I'd try the place out. I've since been here three times since discovery a couple of weeks ago. The space is small but quaint. It is clean and has TV, which makes it overall a comfy place to hang out. The idea is to order and pay at the counter, and then sit down and wait for them to serve your food, kind of like a mix of fast food and waiter service. The food is delicious! I haven't had anything that I disliked so far. The sushi tastes fresh and the presentation is beautiful. I recommend the citrus, marz, snow mountain, spicy tuna, or the spider--all tried and true. The one sushi burrito that I feel like is the most "worth it" is the Kiss. It has three different types of fish, which is exactly why I love it. The tempura sampler is a pretty good portion and is perfectly fried. The best part of the menu has to be their Mongolian options. HIGHLY recommend the Buuz steamed dumplings. They're essentially Mongolian soup dumplings and they're homemade, made to order, which makes it THAT MUCH BETTER. Some of our friends have tried the Huushur, Tsuivan, Donburri, and udon, and they all seemed delicious and the feedbacks were all positive. The owners are SO NICE.
