As a first time client, it was nice to experience such to-the-point and no nonsense service. At any other establishment, it'd be jarring, but this is the type of service I appreciate when I go to mechanics. And although they were no nonsense, they were still respectful and did not treat me like a sucker. It was the same treatment for anyone who walked through the door. I made an appointment, came in and said I need an oil change and brake fluid change, with no need to for engine and cabin air filters, and they took care of me. No sales tactics to upsell me on unneeded services, no shady "oh your filters are dirty, you should change them", etc. It looks like they were behind when I got to my appointment, but they made sure to get my car done within the quoted time of an hour - even going as far as to tell their mechanics to "catch up the Lexus - he's been waiting". They did multiple damages to my car , charged me a lot of money, never fixed my car right and when I went back to talk to the owner he told me there was nothing more to be done. Came here last July for an overall maintenance and tune up and told me I needed new brake pads and rotors on the front of the car so I was like okay no problem. 350$ dollars later... Today will be my last day bringing my car to oilys. They used to be great but their mechanics right now are dishonest and careless. Telling me that there's no gasket on my throttle body where I am 100% percent is there because I just put them last night. Not only that, their mechanics destroyed my throttle body air intake tube. On top of that, I have to pay their $90 labor that I didn't ask for them to do. I told them to check but they did not let me know that they'll take it apart. Such a bad move oilys. read more

Came here after my ToyotaCare plan expired and seeing as they wanted to charge me $600 at the Toyota of Buena Park for a service, AND my bad experiences with Jiffy Lube before with another car: I decided to try out a local family-owned business. Both gentlemen working here (Brothers) we're so nice & courteous to me both in person and over the phone! They were up front with the price (no surprises), and very straight forward with everything, in a non-pushy way. I was a walk-in so I waited about 2 hours in their lobby area, but it had some nice ambiance music going, with plenty of chargers if needed. They even had a nice little desk area which was perfect for me to get some work done! I overheard a customer complain about the price after her oil change was done, saying she could find someone cheaper (it was like a $20 difference because she had synthetic oil vs the regular oil), but In all honesty: to start off, you get what you pay for, and these two were honest & courteous, clearly caring about their long-term customers (I was there long enough to observe their relationships with past customers). Secondly, the price is actually pretty spot on for an oil change, it's actually a bit cheaper than other places like Jiffy Lube or the outrageous dealerships prices. I used to live a block away, but never used Oily's because I already had a mechanic that I totally trusted (albeit he was down in Redondo Beach and I lived in Fullerton). After that mechanic retired, I felt lost. Seeing the good reviews for Oily's, I eventually got round to trying them out. I think I've had my car there for various repairs maybe 3 or 4 times so far. The most recent repair was just today (Jan 7, 2023). My battery light came on, and I thought I would need a new alternator (my car is 30 years old and still uses the original alternator). But they looked and found it was simply the belts. Saved me time and money. They could have easily cheated me and changed my alternator and I wouldn't have known the difference. But they didn't take advantage of me. Finding an honest mechanic that you totally trust is so important. Unfortunately, I moved out to Brea, so I'm about 20 minutes away from Oily's now. I used to get my oil changed at the dealer and it used to take 2 hours with lot of upsell. After I reviewed other options found Oily's on yelp and have been using them for 5 years now. Their oil changes are quick as long as you call ahead and schedule the time. No upsell but they do a great job in informing any issues they see. OK I want to make this clear to everyone. I don't want to bash Oilys or Babbington it's Customer Service was right on. They are great with brakes and tuneup stuff but not for diagnosing and they definitely don't do engine work I took my truck there because of the noise I heard it was a small, ticking noise (only later to find out that it was a tappet) and they said they couldn't hear it So I ended up having them replace the gear oil and oil pan , they did a good job at that Later that week I had issues with the truck bogging and the engine light coming on He said the cylinder number five wasn't sparking and I needed a tuneup. They weren't absolutely 100% sure this would help but I went with it and keep in mind I wasn't talking to Babington through this process I was talking with one of his sons Dylan and I'm not sure that his sons are mechanics, I think it's very important that you were able to speak to the person that's actually doing the work on your car just so much changes from the time you drop your keys off to the time you pick them up) , so it seems like Babington feel out of the loop and decided to go do some other things , anyhow The tuneup the through we're suggesting was $1000 for 16 plugs and I thought OK :-) it hasn't been done and 76,000 miles. Maybe this will work ,They changed out all the spark plugs, and they gave me the truck back. (I do not have the money to be fixing stuff on the truck. That doesn't need it. IAsk them if they test drove it and his answer was yes they did. ( Dylan.) Pulling away and driving home it started doing the same exact thing So I called Babington and spoke with him. He was very accommodating and told me to bring it right back in which I did. He said he would get on it and make sure he took care of this issue and he did Later on after giving it back to me he said he replaced the fuel injector, but didn't charge me. I thought this was a great thing because fuel injectors aren't cheap, so I was very happy and went home no problems I don't drive the truck very often. And I never got any paperwork for the free fuel injector that he replaced? Less than five days later the same problem again I probably put less than 20 miles on it since he did replace that fuel injector so I decided to take it to the dealer and have a diagnosed long story short I think Babington and Sons are great for tuneups oil, changes, brakes, etc. and the customer service was excellent Bevington is a standard dude , but this recommendation is for everybody out there that thinks they may need engine work, and actually has a problem and not just typical service. but if you need engine work if you think it's beyond replacing a starter then go have it looked at by somebody who knows your vehicle read more
